The first week of September was a week that I had been expecting all summer. I didn’t want summer to end, but I was eager to go to high school for my first week.
When I got to school on the morning of the first day I realized how large the school was, and how many students went there. I ended up in the wrong classroom because of the size of the school. Luckily, a kind senior showed up and guided me to my classroom before I was late. I was happy to see that in a class of unfamiliar faces, the only open seat was next to my good friend, Jimmy. My science teacher seemed like a good teacher.
After finishing four periods, I didn’t feel too bad. However, the fifth period changed everything. I didn’t feel ready after all. My literature teacher is Mr. Smith. He told us that we would have to write 40 essays(文章) and read AP-level books such as The Odyssey this term. I love reading and writing, but come on, 40 ESSAYS? AP-level books? Now I was anxious.
The courses in high school seem like they’re going to get much harder, but they haven’t yet. Even though my classes look hard, they look really exciting too.
The first week passed quickly. Although a lot of things were overwhelming(令人不知所措的): the size of the campus, the crowds and the seniors, having a totally different experience that I had never had before was really exciting.
Now, I’m really happy about high school. I have lots of friends in my classes, I really like my teachers and I’m meeting new people.

For most people, life is never easy. That's especially true for high school students.
Not only do you have the stress and worry of schoolwork to deal with, you also have many problems of daily life to face. Take the relationship you have with your parents for example.
When you were at primary school, your parents were probably your heroes. Whatever they did and whatever they said were always so interesting and funny, but as you grew older it's likely that you and your parents began to grow apart from each other. Their jokes began to sound awkward, and the last thing you'd want to do is to walk in the park holding hands with them. This is just one of the natural parts of growing older.
Life has many difficult stages, but the teenage years are probably the ones that are filled with the most problems. As this is the time of life when we begin to turn into adults, lots of new issues arise.
Now, you can't just rely on your parents to do everything for you——you must be responsible for yourself and your own actions. At the same time, as your body begins to develop, problems arise that you never knew existed. Things like being worried about how you look in front of others soon become daily concerns.
While all this is happening, you have to plan for your future. As you come to the end of your school years, you have to make some really big decisions.
So yes——being a teenager is really challenging, and you probably have varieties of questions that need answers to. How do you decide whether you should follow the wishes of your parents, or your own? Which career is the most suitable to you and your background?
32.Who is the passage written for?
A.parents. B.teachers.
C.high school students. D.graduates from university.
33.From the example of relationship between “you” and “your parents”, what can we know?
A.You and your parents begin to grow apart.
B.Your parents couldn’t tell interesting stories any more.
C.You only want to walk in the park with your friends.
D.You are having many difficulties of daily life to deal with.
34.If there is another paragraph, what will be talked about?
A.More questions for teenagers.
B.The ways to deal with common questions.
C.The relationship between you and your parents.
D.Other questions in your new life.
35.What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Life isn’t easy for most people.
B.A new chapter of your life.
C.Many difficulties make your life harder.
D.Parents are not the ones that you can depend on

The first day of school marks the end of summer, but it doesn’t have to be the end of your fun for the year! You can use the school year as a time to start afresh with new classes, new friendships, and new knowledge. 36 Once you’re there, it’s easy to have a successful first day of school if you’ve planned in advance.
Buy the things that you’ll need for the school year. 37 If you’re not sure what you need, check your school’s website, call the school to ask them, or look up lists for your grade level online.
38 If you have the time, pick a day and act as if it’s your first day. Go to bed early the night before, and wake up on time. Head to the school to see how long it will take you to get there.
Adjust (调整) your sleeping time 10-14 days before the first day. Try to go to bed at your “school year” bedtime every night. Try to have a fixed bedtime, taking the time spent in brushing your teeth and relaxing into consideration. 39
Talk to your parents if you’re worried about bullying (欺凌). 40 If you have close friends, try talking to them about how you’re feeling. If they know you’re worried about being bullied, they’ll be able to watch your back and help you if you do end up in a bad situation.

A comfort zone, particularly for students in high school, serves as a nonrisk, nofailure and nonrejection zone. It reflects that most teenagers are not willing to extend themselves or take risks in their life and they even want to escape from their parents.
My first experience of being thrown out of my comfort zone was in my high school. Many of my friends in the first year had started to experiment, regardless of the results, with alcohol, drugs or other 41 things. For them, it was 42 to care more about alcohol, parties or girlfriends/boyfriends rather than their 43 , study or other friends. That was not the case with me. None of my friends had the determination to 44 their risky behavior, including pressure in the new group and the new comfort zone of going along with new friends. 45 , they simply replaced one comfort zone with another riskier one with potentially severe results. Those had little 46 for me.
I considered myself to be smarter than my old friends and was trying to develop 47 and diverse interests. I threw myself into my 48 and spent a long time in the library. I took an active part in community service. I gained confidence and the rewards of my study 49 my old friends wandered in school, with little thought or concern for their 50 . Could they support themselves in the future? Because of our 51 opinion, interests and values, the only 52 of our friendship, we chose to end it. I couldn’t 53 their group just to be accepted.
54 I went through a high school student’s worst experience—having no peer (同龄人) group.

As a student, classes and workshops might take up most of your day, but 56 you make use of your time can make all the difference.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料:根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One summer when I was ten years old,my brother and I received a wonderful gift — tennis rackets (球拍) and balls. We had never had the opportunity to play tennis, so this was exciting. However, there was one problem — the small town we lived in did not have a tennis court (网球场).
One Saturday morning my brother said, “Hey, I’ve got an idea.Let’s take our tennis rackets and balls to the school and hit the balls against the school building.”
“Great idea! Let’s go,” I agreed, not realizing what a lesson we would learn.
When we got to the school ground, no one was around, so we began hitting our balls against the side of the building. “I’ll hit it the first time,” my brother suggested,“then you hit it the next time. We’ll hit it back and forth to each other.” So we began taking turns hitting the ball, getting more confident with each hit. Actually, we became pretty good at returning the ball and we were hitting the ball higher and faster each time. Suddenly, the unexpected thing happened — the ball got out of control and went crashing through one of the upstairs windows, leaving lots of broken glass on the ground. We looked around and no one was in sight except there was a guard sitting there over a distance.
Quietly, I asked, “Now what should I do?”
“Well,” my brother answered, “no one saw us, except that old man down there. And he probably can’t see this far.”
“He probably doesn’t know who we are anyway... Let’s go home,” I added.
As we picked up the rest of our balls and went home, we discussed whether to tell Mom and Dad what had happened. Would we be punished for our mistakes? Would every penny we had saved go to pay for the window? Or just keep it a secret? We thought about all these things all the way.
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
But that decision was made the moment we walked into the house.

The drinks were fantastic. The hotel food was either tasteless or too hot, but the waiters were all friendly and knowledgeable. John decided he wanted to take a trip to a museum, so I went along. Actually, I didn’t really like it. It was pretty disappointing. I surely preferred being near the ocean. The beach was amazing and I went there several times. In the week, John went off on his own into the mountains, but I stayed in the hotel. I once tried going on an elephant ride, but it was terrible. Elephants frightened me, so I gave up. The two weeks went by so quickly. We got back last night. And all in all I think it was a great trip, really relaxing. I’m so glad we entered the competition.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On Monday, my brother and I went to school.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
But that decision was made the moment we walked into the house. As we were about to tell Mom what had happened, she asked first. Gathering the courage, we told her. “Oh, my goodness!” my mother said. After a short while, Dad came up and said, “Well, the first thing on Monday, you two have to talk to the headmaster and admit your mistake. You will probably have to pay for the window, but that is what you two should do.”
On Monday, my brother and I went to school. With our hearts beating wildly, we went to the headmaster and told the whole story. Smiling, he told us that he had known it from the school guard, and he was glad we were there. He said the school would repair the window, so we needn’t worry. “I am proud of you,” he continued. We felt proud too and learned it was good to be honest.

Could they support themselves in the future? Because of our 51 opinion, interests and values, the only 52 of our friendship, we chose to end it. I couldn’t 53 their group just to be accepted.
54 I went through a high school student’s worst experience—having no peer (同龄人) group.
