Unit 4 Fun in the Sun!-Exploring the Topic-Grammar in use This grammar lesson in Unit 4 focuses on two main grammar points: object pronouns and the present continuous tense. The content is divided into two parts. For object pronouns, there are three activities. Activity 1 presents object pronouns in sentences along with pictures, allowing students to understand their position and usage. Activity 2 requires students to summarize the rules of object pronouns and compare them with subject pronouns. Activity 3 has students fill in the blanks with object pronouns in a given text. Regarding the present continuous tense, it also consists of three activities. Activity 1 shows affirmative and negative sentences of the present continuous tense under pictures, helping students learn its meaning. Activity 2 asks students to summarize the structures of affirmative and negative sentences based on Activity 1. Activity 3 enables students to complete a short passage with the present continuous tense using given pictures and phrases, applying the grammar in a real - life context. 教学目标 1. Knowledge Objectives Students will be able to master the forms (me, you, him, her, it, us, them) and usage of object pronouns. Students will understand and correctly use the affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences of the present continuous tense (am/is/are + v.-ing). 2. Ability Objectives Students can accurately use object pronouns in sentences. Students are capable of using the present continuous tense to describe ongoing actions and events. 3. Emotional Objectives Cultivate students' interest and enthusiasm in English learning through learning and discussion. Guide students to pay attention to the things happening around them, enhancing their observation and perception of life. 教学重难点 1. Teaching Key Points The usage and spelling of object pronouns. The formation and usage of the present continuous tense. 2. Teaching Difficult Points How to correctly distinguish between subject and object forms of personal pronouns and use them accurately in different contexts. The change rules of verb - ing forms in the present continuous tense and their application. 1. Object Pronouns Forms: me, you, him, her, it, us, them Usage: Used as the object of a verb or a preposition. For example, “He likes me.” (object of the verb “like”); “Give the book to him.” (object of the preposition “to”) 2. Present Continuous Tense Structure: Affirmative: Subject + am/is/are + v.-ing. e.g., “I am reading a book.” “He is playing football.” “They are singing.” Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + v.-ing. e.g., “I am not watching TV.” “She is not doing her homework.” Interrogative: Am/Is/Are + subject + v.-ing? e.g., “Are you listening to music?” “Is he running?” Verb - ing form change rules: Generally, add -ing directly. e.g., play - playing, read - reading For verbs ending with silent -e, remove -e and add -ing. e.g., write - writing, make - making For verbs with a single - vowel + single - consonant final syllable and the final syllable is stressed, double the final consonant and add -ing. e.g., run - running, swim - swimming 教学过程 1. Lead - in (5 minutes) Show some pictures of people doing various activities, such as playing basketball, dancing, and reading. T: “Look at these pictures. What are the people doing? Let's describe their actions in English.” Encourage students to answer, for example, “He is playing basketball.” “She is dancing.” Then introduce the topic of this unit “Exploring the Topic” and tell students that they will learn about object pronouns and the present continuous tense in this class. 2. Learning Object Pronouns (15 minutes) Activity 1 (5 minutes) Present the pictures and sentences in the textbook. Let students read the sentences aloud and pay special attention to the bold - faced object pronouns. Ask questions like “What are these words? What do they do in the sentences?” Guide students to understand that these are object pronouns and they are used as objects in the sentences. Activity 2 (5 minutes) Have students complete a table with subject pronouns and object pronouns. T: “Look at the table. Let's fill in the blanks with the correct forms of personal pronouns. Then observe and summarize the spelling rules of subject and object pronouns.” For example, “I” is the subject form, and “me” is the object form; “he” is the subject form, and “him” is the object form. Activity 3 (5 minutes) Provide some sentences for students to practice choosing the correct object pronouns. For example, “Please pass the ball to ____. (he/him)” “They are waiting for ____. (we/us)” Let students work individually first, and then check the answers in pairs. 3. Learning the Present Continuous Tense (20 minutes) Activity 1 (5 minutes) Display more pictures with present continuous tense sentences. Let students read the sentences and observe the structure “am/is/are + v.-ing”. Explain the meaning of the present continuous tense: It is used to describe actions that are happening at the moment. Activity 2 (5 minutes) Present some sentences and ask students to complete a table to summarize the structures of affirmative and negative sentences of the present continuous tense. Emphasize that the form of “be” (am/is/are) should be chosen according to the subject. For example, “I” goes with “am”, “he/she/it” goes with “is”, and “you/we/they” go with “are”. Activity 3 (5 minutes) Teach the change rules of verb - ing forms. Use examples to illustrate, such as “play - playing”, “write - writing”, “run - running”. Give students some verbs and ask them to change them into -ing forms. Activity 4 (5 minutes) Provide some sentences for students to rewrite in the present continuous tense. For example, “He reads a book.” (He is reading a book.) Let students work in groups to discuss and complete the task, and then each group presents their answers. 4. Comprehensive Practice (10 minutes) Present a short passage with blanks. Students need to fill in the blanks with either object pronouns or the present continuous tense of the given verbs. For example: “My friends and I are in the park. We are having a great time. I am flying a kite, and ____ (he) is playing football. Look at the girls over there. They are singing and dancing. We all like ____ (it) very much.” After students finish, ask them to read the passage aloud in groups and check each other's answers. 教学反思 After this class, students have a basic understanding of object pronouns and the present continuous tense. However, there are still some aspects that need improvement. In the teaching process, although various activities were designed to make the class lively, some students still had difficulties in distinguishing subject and object pronouns. More real - life examples and interactive games could be added to help students better understand the differences. For the present continuous tense, some students made mistakes in changing verb - ing forms, especially for those with special rules. In future classes, more focused practice on verb - ing form changes should be arranged. Moreover, during group activities, some students were less active. Teachers need to encourage these students to participate more and provide more guidance to ensure that every student can benefit from the group learning process. Overall, continuous improvement of teaching methods and more targeted practice are needed to help students better master these grammar points. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
