I often hesitate to join class discussions because I’m afraid of making mistakes. To overcome this, I’ve decided to take small steps every day. I’ll try to speak English with my friends during breaks and keep an English journal to practice writing. Also, I plan to watch simple English cartoons and listen to easy songs to improve my listening. Joining the English club might be a fun way to learn with others. I believe step by step, I will become more confident and do better in English. (108 words) 第二节 (满分25分) Just at that moment, a woman came in. It was Bob’s wife. She looked worried and anxious as she waved something small from far away. "Bob! You left this on the bedside table this morning," she said aloud, her eyes glancing at the surprised people around Bob. The brown wallet, a little worn outside, clearly contained Bob's identification cards and some money. "I was afraid you might need it during the day, especially for your lunch break, so I came as quickly as I could," she explained breathlessly, handing the wallet toward her husband. (82 words) Everyone looked at Bob. His face turned red. “John, I…I’m sorry,” he said. Bob was unable to meet John's eyes. Mr. Smith stepped forward immediately, placing a right hand on John's shoulder. "This teaches us an important lesson," he said seriously. "We must never judge others only by their past mistakes, but rather see who they've become today." The other workers nodded in agreement, offering sincere apologies one by one. John finally forced a smile, accepting their words as the factory atmosphere began to warm again. M: OK, here’s my story, I was about 18 months old, I think, and I had just started to say my first word. Every time a truck went by, I would shout a word that sounded like a truck, but to everyone else, it sounded nothing like it. My parents tried to correct me, but failed. Then, about three months later, we traveled to New York, as we were waiting for our plane at the airport. I looked out of a huge window, at that very moment I saw the largest truck in the world, I had to tell someone about this. I turned to my father who was standing next to about a thousand people waiting for the very flight and screamed “Truck! Truck!” My father tried hard to shut me up, but I was so excited, I kept screaming my special word. My poor mother decided she didn’t know this baby and then ran into the ladies-room where she hid until I finally stopped. Well, I learned how to say “truck” correctly, and soon I was talking like a normal child. However, my parents will never forget the very first word I produced in my life. A http://www.ticket-stack.com Welcome to Ticket Stack (票务一站式服务平台) Reviews Home Events Place Orders Ticket Stack—the online choice for all your ticket needs! It’s planting trees! In an effort to fight pollution and help the environment, the Marina Hills Ecology Club offers free trees to anyone willing to plant them on their grounds. Among those that took advantage of the offer was Marina Hills High School. After discussing it with his teachers on where to plant the trees, Max Webb, the headmaster, contacted (联系) the Ecology Club. But when the young trees arrived, Webb had an idea. Instead of planting the young trees in front of the school, he thought it would be better to put them behind the school, where the sun gets very hot in the afternoon. “It gets so hot inside the building that the students start to sweat (出汗) during their afternoon classes,” said Webb. “Now the cool under our trees will bring them some relief (宽慰).” “There was no argument from the teachers,” he added. “When I suggested it as a plan, everyone said, ‘Now why didn’t I think of that!’” The relief won’t come until the trees grow taller, but the school will not have to wait long because it only asked for two kinds of trees that grow quickly. “Time is key, and we wanted our trees to get big fast,” said Webb. “We were given a wide choice, from shrubs to fruit trees. Finally we chose eucalyptus and willow trees.” Webb said he is also looking forward to finally seeing some wildlife in the school yard at Marina Hills High School. “If all you have is a grass lawn (草坪) with no trees, you can’t expect the local birds to come and visit,” said Webb. “They have no place to make their nests. Now that will change, and we’ll be able to see birds from our classroom windows.” (316 words) 24. What would be the best title for this article? A. Local School Gets Greener B. Late one night, I saw an ad on TV for Young Again Dog Beverage. They showed an old dog trying to get into an armchair. It got only halfway into the chair before it fell off to the floor. They showed another dog trying to catch a Frisbee. The poor dog couldn't even jump off the ground. They showed another dog going for a ‘walk’, but instead of actually walking, the dog was sitting in a baby carriage (车) that its owner was pushing. These were all the ‘before' pictures.” “Then they showed the ‘after’ pictures—after the animals had drunk the Young Again Dog Beverage for one week. It was a miracle (奇迹)! I couldn’t believe my own two eyes! The first dog easily jumped up into the armchair. The second dog jumped almost four feet into the air to catch the Frisbee, and the third dog stood on its hind (后部的) legs and pushed the family cat in the baby carriage!” “Well, of course, I was sold! So, I sent in my $19.95 to the address on the TV screen. After it arrived, I put 10 drops into Prince's water dish each day for a week. Nothing happened. So I doubled the dosage (剂量) for another two weeks, but Prince was still tired and weak.” “I called the company. They asked me what kind of dog I had. I told them that Prince was a mixed breed They said the TV ad I saw was for purebreds (纯种的动物) only. They told me to order Young Again Beverage for Mixed for $11.95. That was four days ago. I can’t wait until it gets here someday, when I can watch Prince run up and down those steps and start going after cats again, just like the good old days!” (332 words) 28. Which is the article mainly about? A. Old Dogs Become Young Again B. How to Raise a Dog C. How to Buy Food for Your Dog D. My Old Dog Prince 29. In the last paragraph, the word it refers to _________ . A. Young Again Dog Beverage B. Young Again Beverage for Mixed C. Prince the dog D. the TV advertising 30. The article is likely taken from ________ . A. a novel called Prince and Me B. a literature book C. a program called Discovery Times D. a newspaper 31. What can we infer from the article? A. Prince the dog might be very active when it was young. B. The master of Prince was very angry about the effect at first. C. Young Again Dog I Beverage could be applied to all kinds of dogs. D. I Dogs of mixed breeds didn’t like Young Again Dog Beverage. A 29. B 30. D 31. 28. A。 Young Again Beverage for Mixed”。 选项A(Young Again Dog Beverage)是之前购买无效的产品,不是正在等待的货物;选项C(Prince the dog)是她的狗,不可能“被送到”(gets here),因为狗已经在身边;选项D(the TV advertising)是电视广告,与“送达”无关。 30. D。 31. A。 D A straight-A student got a C in her cooking class and she did not like this. She did not like it so much that her dad filed a complaint (投诉) in federal court (联邦法院) about it. Since her first year in school, she has had perfect attendance and all her grades have been A’s. Virginia’s father said her heart was broken when she got the C. “She cried the whole weekend," he said. “She wouldn’t come out of her room. Her eyes were red and swollen. Everybody in America wants to sue (起诉) everybody else. I’m going to sue them for defamation (诽谤) of character and whatever else my lawyer comes up with.” The school headmaster, who grew up in India, said that he supported Ms. Smith 100 per cent. He said that Virginia is an excellent student, who would have no problem getting into the best universities even with a C in cooking. “She won’t have any difficulty finding a great university, but she might have problems finding a husband,” he laughed. “She’d better look for a man who likes to eat out a lot.” 32. Why did the girl's father sue Ashley High School? A. A teacher discriminated against the girl. B. A teacher gave the girl a physical punishment (体罚). 32. A。原文明确说明父亲指控白人教师因种族因素歧视其黑人女儿("discriminated against his daughter")。所用选A. A teacher discriminated against the girl. 33. 56. the. 考查冠词用法:in the UK(在英国)。国家名称前通常不加冠词,但UK(United Kingdom)是特指,需要定冠词“the”。 57. Although/Though/While. 考查让步状语从句,前后句为让步关系。“尽管它们是英国资格,但全世界各地的学校都提供A-Levels。”因此需要让步状语从句的引导词。 58. as. 考查词汇基本语法。recognise...as...(将……视为……)为固定搭配。句意:“大多数大学和高等教育机构将A-Levels视为合适的入学资格。” 59. following. 考查词性与语境:“following”在此是介词,意为“在……之后”或“由于”。句意:“然而,在2016年至2018年实施的改革之后,AS-Levels现在是一个独立的资格。” 60. first. 考查序数词:这里指“第一年的学习”,所以用“first”。“the first year”表示“第一年”。 61. to choose. 考查固定搭配:be free to do sth.(自由地做某事)。句意:“学生可以自由选择最感兴趣或认为对未来学习或职业有益的主题。” 62. Subjects. 考查主语与复数:这里列举多个科目,且是句子的主语,所以用复数形式“Subjects”。句首单词首字母大写。 63. which. 考查宾语从句引导词:这里“which”引导宾语从句,作“check”的宾语,表示“哪些科目”。句意:“最好提前查看你所考虑的学校提供哪些科目。” 64. Written. 考查过去分词作定语:“written examinations”意为“笔试”,过去分词“written”修饰“examinations”,表示被动关系(被书面完成的考试)。 65. is. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文】 As a new high school student, I’ve realized that my biggest challenge in learning English is building confidence, especially in speaking. I’ll try to speak English with my friends during breaks and keep an English journal to practice writing. Also, I plan to watch simple English cartoons and listen to easy songs to improve my listening. Joining the English club might be a fun way to learn with others. On his first day, the boss introduced him to the other workers in the workshop. They showed him around and John started his job. He was good at his work and soon got a pay rise. He also got along well with his workmates and hoped they would like him. But one morning, John noticed the other workers were looking at him and talking in low voices. Then Bob, one of his workmates, came and asked him if it was true that he had been a thief (小偷) and had just come out of prison (监狱). John was very sad to hear that. He told Bob that he had been in prison, but he was not a thief anymore and wanted to forget his past. The workers went to Mr. Smith and asked him to fire John. Mr. Smith told them that John had been honest about his past from the beginning. He said everyone makes mistakes and John deserved a chance. John kept his job, but after that, the other workers were not as friendly as before. About a week later, Bob could not find his wallet. He went to John and asked if he had seen it. John said he knew nothing about it. When Bob tried to catch John’s arm, John hit him in the face. Bob fell to the ground and his nose started to bleed. Mr. Smith came out to see what was happening. The workers said they would all leave if John stayed. Mr. Smith had to give in and said sorry to John. (267 words) 注意: (1) 续写词数应为150个左右; (2) 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Just at that moment, a woman came in. They become extremely tall. C. They are less expensive than fruit trees. D. They do not grow flowers in the springtime. 27. What does Principal Webb suggest about the local birds? A. They make their nests on the ground. B. They are not often seen at the school. C. There are fewer of them because of the pollution problem. D. They fly into the classrooms when the windows are open. C “My 10-year-old dog can’t even walk up two steps to get into the house,” Alicia told her new friend. “I have to carry Prince up those two steps.
