Unit 2 Digital life-A Digital products (Viewing and listening) This section of "Digital products (Viewing and listening)" in Unit 2 of Grade 8 focuses on digital products that are an integral part of students' daily lives. Through vivid videos and audio materials, students will be exposed to a variety of digital products such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches. They will learn about the functions, features, and advantages of these digital products, as well as how to describe them in English. The content not only enriches students' vocabulary related to digital products but also improves their listening and viewing comprehension skills. It also encourages students to think about the impact of digital products on our lives, guiding them to form a rational attitude towards using digital products. 教学目标 Students will be able to master key vocabulary related to digital products, such as "smartphone", "tablet", "laptop", "camera", "touch screen", "battery", "app", etc. They can understand and use sentence patterns for describing digital products, like "This smartphone has a large screen and a high - quality camera.", "The tablet is light and easy to carry." Students will learn common expressions for talking about the functions and features of digital products, such as "It can be used for...", "The advantage of this product is...". 教学重难点 Vocabulary related to digital products and sentence patterns for description. (e.g. The advantage of this tablet is that it is very portable.) [Noun] has the advantage of [verb - ing]. (e.g. Smartphones have the advantage of allowing us to communicate easily.) 教学过程 1 Lead - in (5 minutes) Greet the students and show them some pictures of different digital products on the PPT, such as a smartphone, a tablet, and a laptop. Ask them: "What are these? Do you use them in your daily life? Can you name some other digital products you know?" Encourage students to share their experiences of using these digital products briefly. This activity can quickly arouse students' interest and lead them into the topic of digital products. 2 Pre - viewing/listening (10 minutes) Vocabulary teaching: Present the new words related to digital products on the PPT one by one. Explain the meaning, pronunciation, and usage of each word with pictures or real - object demonstrations if possible. For example, when teaching "smartphone", show a real smartphone and point to its parts while saying the words, like "This is the screen, and this is the camera of the smartphone." Let students repeat the words several times to ensure they can pronounce them correctly. Then, introduce some key sentence patterns for describing digital products. Write them on the blackboard and explain the structure and usage. Give some examples and ask students to imitate and make their own sentences. For instance, for the sentence pattern "This [noun] has a [adjective] [noun]", give an example "This laptop has a large screen", and then ask students to create sentences about other digital products. Walk around the classroom to monitor and help students. 3 Viewing and listening (15 minutes) Viewing: Play a short video about the introduction of a new smartphone. Before playing the video, give students some guiding questions, such as "What are the main features of this smartphone?", "How big is the screen?", "What functions does it have?" Let students watch the video carefully and try to find the answers. After the video, ask students to share their answers in pairs first, and then invite some pairs to report to the whole class. Listening: Play an audio recording of a user's review of a tablet. Before playing, present some listening - comprehension questions on the PPT, like "What does the user like about the tablet?", "What problems does the user mention?", "Is the user satisfied with the tablet overall?" Let students listen attentively and take notes if necessary. After the listening, check the answers with the students. Explain any difficult points in the audio, such as new words or expressions that students may not understand. 4 Post - viewing/listening (10 minutes) Group discussion: Divide students into groups of 4 - Give each group a topic related to digital products, such as "What is the most important digital product in your life and why?", "If you could design a new digital product, what would it be like?" Ask students to discuss in groups and use the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have just learned. Walk around each group, listen to their discussions, and offer guidance and encouragement. Group presentation: Each group selects a representative to give a presentation about their discussion results. The representative should speak in front of the class for about 2 - 3 minutes. After each presentation, other students can ask questions or give comments. This activity can not only consolidate students' knowledge but also improve their speaking and cooperation skills. 5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summary: Summarize the key vocabulary, sentence patterns, and main points of this class with the students. Review the important information about digital products they have learned, such as the features, functions, and advantages of different digital products. Emphasize the importance of using English to describe and discuss digital products. Homework: Ask students to write a short passage about their favorite digital product. They should describe its appearance, functions, and why they like it, using at least 80 words. Require students to search for more information about a digital product they are interested in and prepare to share it in the next class. 教学反思 After this class, I reflected on the teaching process and effectiveness. Overall, the students showed great interest in the topic of digital products, which made the teaching activities progress relatively smoothly. The lead - in part successfully attracted students' attention and activated their prior knowledge related to digital products. However, in the vocabulary teaching part, although using pictures and real - object demonstrations helped students understand the words better, the time spent on some complex words could be adjusted to ensure more time for sentence - pattern practice. During the viewing and listening activities, most students could understand the main ideas, but some students still had difficulties in catching specific information, especially when there were rapid - fire descriptions or unfamiliar accents. In the future, more listening and viewing materials with different speeds and accents should be provided to improve students' listening and viewing comprehension skills. The group discussion and presentation activities were quite successful. Students actively participated in the discussions and were able to use the learned knowledge to express their opinions. However, some groups spent too much time on internal communication, resulting in a relatively short presentation time. In the next class, it is necessary to give more specific time limits and guidance for group activities. For the homework, it is expected that students can further consolidate the knowledge learned in class through writing and information - searching. By asking them to share information in the next class, it can also expand their knowledge about digital products and improve their English - speaking ability. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
