教学过程
Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures of beautiful natural scenery and seriously polluted environments on the PPT. Then ask students: "What do you think of these pictures? Which environment do you like better? Why?" Encourage students to express their opinions freely. This activity can arouse students' interest in the topic of environmental protection and quickly lead them into the learning context.
Presentation (10 minutes)
Teach new vocabulary:
Write the new words on the blackboard one by one, such as "reduce", "reuse", "recycle", "save", etc. Read the words aloud with the students, and ask them to imitate the pronunciation. Then explain the meanings of these words through simple examples. For example, for "reduce", say "We can reduce waste by not buying unnecessary things." For "reuse", show a reused plastic bottle and say "We can reuse this plastic bottle to hold water." Let students repeat the examples to better understand the words.
Teach sentence patterns:
Present the key sentence patterns on the PPT, like "We can... to protect the environment." and "It's a good idea to...". Explain the structures and usage of these sentence patterns. Then give some examples: "We can plant more trees to protect the environment." "It's a good idea to turn off the lights when we leave the room." Ask students to make sentences using these patterns with the new words they just learned. Walk around the classroom to help and correct students' mistakes.
Practice (15 minutes)
Pair - work:
Divide the students into pairs. Give each pair a set of pictures related to environmental protection, such as pictures of reducing waste, reusing things, recycling materials, and saving energy. Ask the students to talk about the pictures with their partners using the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned. For example, one student says "Look at this picture. We can see a person using both sides of the paper. We can reduce waste by doing this." The other student responds "Yes, it's a good idea. And we can also recycle the used paper." Walk around the classroom to listen to their conversations and give necessary guidance and encouragement.
Group - discussion:
Rearrange the students into groups of four. Set a discussion topic: "What can we do in our daily lives to make our neighbourhood more green?" Each group is required to list at least five green ideas. Encourage students to think actively and communicate with each other in English. After the discussion, each group selects a representative to report their group's ideas to the whole class.
Production (10 minutes)
Green - idea Poster Making:
Tell the students that they will make a green - idea poster in groups. Each group needs to draw some pictures or write some words on the poster to show their green ideas. They should use the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned in this class. Provide some drawing tools and large pieces of paper for each group. While the students are making the posters, walk around to offer help and advice. After the posters are finished, ask each group to present their posters to the class. The other students can ask questions and give comments.
Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summary:
Summarize the key vocabulary and sentence patterns of this class with the students. Review the green ideas that the students have discussed and presented. Emphasize the importance of environmental protection again.
Homework:
Ask the students to write a short passage about "My Green Ideas" at home, using at least five sentences. They can also share their passage with their family members and encourage their family to take actions to protect the environment.
教学反思
After this class, overall, the teaching objectives have been basically achieved. Most students can master the key vocabulary and use the sentence patterns to express green ideas. The warming - up activity successfully aroused students' interest, and the pair - work and group - discussion provided students with enough opportunities to practice speaking English. However, there are also some areas that need improvement.
Vocabulary Teaching
Some students still have problems with the pronunciation of certain words, such as "recycle". In future vocabulary teaching, more time can be spent on pronunciation practice, for example, by using pronunciation apps or more individual correction. Also, when explaining the meanings of words, more vivid and real - life examples can be given to help students better understand and remember.
Group - work and Group - discussion
In the group - work and group - discussion activities, a few students were a bit passive and did not actively participate in the communication. In the future, it is necessary to encourage these students more, and set some clear group - work rules to ensure that every student can be involved. For example, each student in the group can be assigned a specific task in the discussion, such as recording ideas, leading the discussion, or presenting the results.
Time Management
The time for the green - idea poster making was a little tight. Some groups did not have enough time to make their posters as perfect as they wanted. Next time, the time for each activity should be more accurately arranged, and perhaps some simple guidelines can be given to the students in advance to speed up the process of poster making.
Idea Guidance
Some students' green ideas were relatively simple and lacked innovation. In the teaching process, more inspiration and guidance can be provided. For example, show some videos or real - life cases of innovative environmental protection measures to expand students' thinking.
In conclusion, through this teaching reflection, I will adjust and improve my teaching methods and strategies in future classes to better meet the learning needs of students and improve the teaching effect.
