Where have you been?” Let several students share their travel experiences briefly. Then show some general pictures of beautiful places around the world on the PPT, and ask students: “What do you think of these places? Would you like to travel to these places?” After a short discussion, introduce the theme of this unit - “Travelling around China”, and say: “Today, we are going to explore some amazing places in our own country.” 2 Pre - listening (10 minutes) Present new words and phrases on the PPT. Teach the pronunciation, meaning, and usage of each word or phrase. For example, when teaching “attraction”, show pictures of different tourist attractions like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, and explain: “The Great Wall is a famous attraction in the world. It attracts millions of tourists every year.” Divide students into pairs. Give each pair a set of flashcards with the new words and phrases. Let them practice reading and explaining the words to each other. Walk around the classroom to monitor and offer help if necessary. After that, show some pictures of famous tourist attractions in China on the PPT, such as the Terracotta Army, Guilin 山水,and the Potala Palace. Ask students to guess the names of these places and encourage them to use the new words they just learned to describe the pictures simply. For example: “I think this is the Terracotta Army. It is a very famous historical site in China.” 3 While - listening (15 minutes) Tell students: “Now, we are going to listen to a passage about some tourist attractions in China. Listen carefully and try to find out the names of the places mentioned in the passage.” Play the audio recording for the first time. After the first listening, ask students to share the names of the places they heard. Write the names on the blackboard. Play the audio recording again. This time, ask students to listen carefully and take notes about the features of each place, such as what it is famous for, where it is located. After the second listening, divide students into groups of four. Let them discuss and summarize the information they got from the listening in their groups. Then ask each group to report their findings to the whole class. For example: “Group 1, please tell us what you learned about the first place.” And Group 1 may answer: “The first place is the Great Wall. It is famous for its long history and magnificent scenery. It is located in the north of China.” 4 Post - listening (10 minutes) Show some pictures of other tourist attractions in China that are not mentioned in the listening material. Divide students into new groups. Each group gets a picture. In their groups, students are required to use the vocabulary and sentence patterns they learned to describe the place in the picture. They can also add some creative ideas, such as imagining what they would do if they visited that place. After group discussion, ask each group to choose a representative to come to the front of the class and present their description of the place. The rest of the students listen carefully and can ask questions if they have any. At the end of this part, have a small quiz. Show some pictures on the PPT and ask students to stand up and describe the pictures using the correct vocabulary and sentence patterns as quickly as possible. Give small rewards to the students who perform well. 5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summarize the key points of this class with the students, including the new words, phrases, and sentence patterns related to travelling around China. Review the main content of the listening material and the descriptions of different tourist attractions. Assign homework: Ask students to choose a tourist attraction in China that they are interested in. They need to collect more information about this place, such as its history, culture, and special features. Then write a short passage about this place using at least five sentences they learned in this class. Tell students to share their travel experiences or the places they want to visit in China with their parents in English after class. 教学反思 After this class, it is necessary to reflect on the teaching process. First, in terms of the lead - in part, most students showed great interest in sharing their travel experiences, which successfully attracted their attention to the theme of this unit. However, the time spent on students' sharing could be better controlled to ensure a more smooth transition to the following teaching steps. During the pre - listening stage, the use of flashcards and pair work was effective in helping students learn new words and phrases. But some students still had difficulties in pronouncing some words correctly, which indicates that more individual pronunciation guidance is needed in the future. In the while - listening process, most students could understand the main content of the audio recording and find the key information. However, for some students with relatively weak listening skills, they had trouble catching all the details. In the future, more listening practice with different levels of difficulty should be provided, and some listening strategies, such as predicting the content before listening and taking notes while listening, should be further emphasized. The post - listening group work and presentation activities were very popular among students. They actively participated in the discussion and showed their creativity in describing the places. But there were also some problems, such as some groups spent too much time on discussing and not enough time on organizing their language for the presentation. In the next class, more specific time limits and guidance on group work and presentation should be given. Overall, through this class, students have initially mastered the relevant knowledge about travelling around China and improved their listening and speaking skills to a certain extent. But there are still many aspects that need to be adjusted and improved in future teaching to better meet the learning needs of students. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
