66.Dear Mike,
I’m glad to hear that you’re enthusiastic about learning Chinese. To improve your speaking, you can watch Chinese movies and TV shows, and imitate the pronunciation. Additionally, you can listen to Chinese podcasts and repeat what the hosts say to enhance your intonation. Try to find Chinese language partners to practice speaking with.
For writing, read Chinese articles regularly to get familiar with different writing styles. Keep a diary in Chinese to practice expressing your thoughts.
I believe you’ll make great progress soon.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
At the market, Paul was nervous but excited. The lively atmosphere filled with colorful stalls and enthusiastic vendors immediately drew him in. I encouraged him to order some fruits in Chinese. At first, his pronunciation was shaky, but the elderly vendor, noticing his effort, patiently corrected him with a warm smile. By the third stall, Paul was confidently bargaining for souvenirs using simple sentences. A tea shop owner even invited us to taste different varieties, explaining their cultural significance in slow Mandarin. That day, Paul didn’t just practice language — he discovered how communication bridges cultures.
Weeks later, our Chinese teacher announced there would be a class speech on Chinese culture. To everyone’s surprise, Paul volunteered immediately. He spent days preparing, incorporating market experiences into his speech about “The Beauty of Daily Communication”. When he stood before the class, his tones were clear, and his gestures lively as he described how a street food vendor taught him the difference between baozi and jiaozi. The classroom erupted in applause. Later, the teacher praised his progress as “the magic of courage meeting opportunity,” and Paul whispered to me, “Now I understand mistakes are just steps to success.”

B
This year I am living abroad in Germany and trying to learn as much German as possible. But one thing I didn’t realize was how many new words I would face every day. I see and hear new words everywhere: the notices in the train station; menus in restaurants; the local newspaper and of course from my German-speaking friends. New words are all around you when you are in a foreign country.
At first, a lot of German words I didn’t understand gave me a headache. I kept on looking up new words, but by the end of the day I had forgotten most of them already. It upset me. A month later, I went to a shop and bought a small notebook. I set myself the goal of writing five new words a day into my little blue notebook. Since then, in my bag, I have always carried an important thing — my little blue word notebook.
I don’t have any rules about which words I write down. Most days I write down words that I learn from my partners at work, or words that I have read. I have also learned the names of many fruits and vegetables from looking at their labels in the supermarket — a very unexpected way of learning words. And I have learned many words that I have heard on TV or on the radio. If I hear a word that I even don’t know how to spell, I write down how I think it is and look it up later.
My little blue word notebook is now like my closest friend. We are like Batman and Robin; we go everywhere together. Setting the small daily goal has made me feel much more in control of my language learning and I am already seeing an improvement. I will continue to use it for the rest of my stay in Germany and also when I return to university at home in September.
24.What surprised the author when living in Germany?
A.The high cost of living in Germany.
B.The difficulty of learning German grammar.
C.The new German words she encountered daily.
D.The unfriendliness of local German speakers.
25.How does the author choose words for the notebook?
A.By asking friends to dictate words.
B.By noting down any unfamiliar words.
C.By copying restaurant menus entirely.
D.By selecting the hardest grammar rules.
26.Why did the writer compare her notebook to Batman and Robin?
A.To show the notebook is as famous as superheroes.
B.To express her deep love and dependence on the notebook.
C.To suggest she wants to be a superhero in language learning.
D.To prove that learning German is as exciting as superhero stories.
27.What is the best title for the passage?
A.How I Adapted to Life in Germany.
B.How I Mastered German Grammar.
C.How I Learned German with a Notebook.
D.How I Realized the Value of Languages.
【答案】24.C 25.B 26.B 27.C
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者在德国学习德语时,通过记录生词来提高语言能力的经历。
24.细节理解题。根据第一段中“But one thing I didn’t realize was how many new words I would face every day. (但我没有意识到的一件事是,我每天会遇到多少新单词)”可知,作者在德国生活时,每天都会遇到很多新的德语单词,这让她感到惊讶。故选C。
25.细节理解题。根据第三段中“I don’t have any rules about which words I write down. Most days I write down words that I learn from my partners at work, or words that I have read. (我没有规定要写哪些单词。大多数时候,我会写下从工作伙伴那里学到的单词,或者读到的单词)”可知,作者没有特定的规则来选择要记在笔记本上的单词,而是记下任何不熟悉的单词。故选B。
26.推理判断题。根据第四段中“My little blue word notebook is now like my closest friend. We are like Batman and Robin; we go everywhere together.

从那以后,我的包里总是装着一件重要的东西——我的蓝色小单词笔记本)”和第四段中“Setting the small daily goal has made me feel much more in control of my language learning and I am already seeing an improvement. (设定这个小目标让我感觉更能掌控自己的语言学习,而且我已经看到了进步)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者在德国学习德语时,通过每天记录五个新单词的方法来提高自己的语言能力。因此,选项C“How I Learned German with a Notebook (我是如何用笔记本学习德语的)”最能概括文章的主旨,可以作为最佳标题。故选C。

A good many facts show that it is more difficult to learn a new language as an adult than as a child, which has led scientists to think that there is a “critical (关键的) period” for language learning. However, the length of this period and its underlying (根本的) causes remain unknown.
A new study performed at MIT suggests that children remain very skilled at learning the grammar of a new language much longer than expected — up to the age of 17 or 18. However, the study also found that it is nearly impossible for people to achieve fluency similar to that of a native speaker unless they start learning a language by the age of 10.
“If you want to have native-like knowledge of English grammar you should start by about 10 years old. We don’t see very much difference between people who start at birth and people who start at 10, but we start seeing a going down after that,” says Joshua Hartshorne, an assistant professor of psychology at Boston College, who conducted this study as a postdoc at MIT.
People who start learning a language between 10 and 18 will still learn quickly, but since they have a shorter window before their learning ability goes down, they do not achieve the fluency of native speakers, the researchers found. The findings are based on an analysis of a grammar quiz taken by nearly 670,000 people, which is by far the largest data set that anyone has collected for a study of language-learning ability.
“It’s been very difficult until now to get all the data you would need to answer this question of how long the critical period lasts,” says Josh Tenenbaum, an MIT professor of brain science and an author of the paper. “This is one of those rare opportunities in science where we could work on a question that is very old, that many smart people have thought about and written about, and take a new angle to see something that maybe other people haven’t.”

【答案】28.A 29.C 30.B 31.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍语言学习存在关键期及相关研究发现,包括关键期时长等内容。
28.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“However, the study also found that it is nearly impossible for people to achieve fluency similar to that of a native speaker unless they start learning a language by the age of 10. (然而,这项研究还发现,除非人们在 10 岁前就开始学习一门语言,否则几乎不可能达到与母语者相近的流利程度。)”可知,孩子要想听起来像英语母语者,最好在10岁前开始学习。故选A项。
29.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“The findings are based on an analysis of a grammar quiz taken by nearly 670,000 people, which is by far the largest data set that anyone has collected for a study of language-learning ability.(这些发现是基于对近67万人参加的语法测试的分析,这是迄今为止为语言学习能力研究收集的最大数据集。)”可知,作者提到语法测试是为了说明研究结果有大量数据支持,以此体现其可信度。故选C项。
30.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“This is one of those rare opportunities in science where we could work on a question that is very old, that many smart people have thought about and written about, and take a new angle to see something that maybe other people haven’t.(这是科学研究中少有的机会之一,我们可以研究一个由来已久的问题,许多聪明的人都思考过、写过这个问题,并从新的角度去发现一些其他人可能没有发现的东西。)”可推知,Josh Tenenbaum认为参与这项研究是幸运的。故选B项。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“A good many facts show that it is more difficult to learn a new language as an adult than as a child, which has led scientists to think that there is a “critical (关键的) period” for language learning.(许多事实表明,成年人学习一门新语言比儿童更困难,这使得科学家们认为语言学习存在一个“关键期”。)”可知,文章首段揭示了本文的主题,之后引用研究结果和数据对这个概念进行了阐释,介绍了相关研究发现,如关键期时长、不同年龄段学习语言的效果差异等,因此,本文主要谈论的是语言学习的关键期。故选A项。

Understanding a simple-looking sentence like “I read this article yesterday” actually requires complex processing of subject, action, object, and time. Yet the human brain does this almost instantaneously based on grammatical rules, says linguist Martin of the Max Planck Institute. His team found that the brain adapts to basic grammatical differences across languages by adjusting how it processes each sentence.
Their recent study observed variations in Dutch- speaking participants’ brain waves while they listened to a Dutch-language audiobook by means of measuring how many new “predictions” the brain makes of words that could come next in a sentence. Interestingly, they found that, unlike previous English- based studies, which supported a “wait and see” model where listeners understand phrases only after they end, Dutch participants showed a strong tendency toward a highly predictive model- mentally completing phrases before they were finished.
In Dutch language structure, verbs sometimes come near the end of a sentence rather than immediately after the subject like they do in English, explains study lead author Cas W. Coopmans, which suggests this seemingly unrealistically delay probably encourages more predictive sentence processing. However, he emphasizes that neither parsing (语法分析) strategy is necessarily better or worse. Instead, people adapt their processing style to fit the structure of the language they’re using, showing the brain’s flexibility across languages.
The findings highlight the need for more diverse subjects in linguistic research, says linguist Jixing Li, who focuses on how brain activity differs when processing languages like English and Chinese due to structural differences. Studying only neurotypical English speakers can miss key variations and limit model accuracy.
Diversifying subjects in studies of how the brain processes language “is going to help us capture how the brain is understanding the structured meaning of language, and the social utility of language, in many different ways,” Martin says. “There’s so much yet to be understood in the brain.”
32.What does the underlined word “instantaneously” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A.immediately. B.constantly C.regularly D.currently
33.According to the study, what can be inferred about Dutch-speaking participants?
A.Their brains work more actively than English speakers.
B.Their brain activity is less predictable than that of English speakers.
C.They struggle to understand complicated sentences as verbs appear late.
D.They prefer to guess upcoming words while listening to spoken language.
34.What message does Coopmans’ words convey?
A.Delayed words confuse Dutch speakers.
B.Dutch verbs come closely after the subject.
C.People process different languages with the same procedure.
D.Parsing strategy is not that important in understanding a language.
35.What can be learnt from the last two paragraphs?
A.Diversifying subjects is necessary in linguistic research.
B.Diversifying subjects helps understand the social utility.
C.How the brain processes language has been fully settled.
D.Studying neurotypical English speakers can miss variation.
【答案】32.A 33.D 34.D 35.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了语言学家关于大脑处理不同语言方式的研究,发现大脑会根据语言结构调整处理策略,强调语言研究中多样化研究对象的必要性。
32.词句猜测题。根据第一段中“Understanding a simple-looking sentence like “I read this article yesterday” actually requires complex processing of subject, action, object, and time. Yet the human brain does this almost instantaneously based on grammatical rules, says linguist Martin of the Max Planck Institute. (理解像“我昨天读了这篇文章”这样看似简单的句子,实际上需要对主语、动作、宾语和时间进行复杂的处理。然而,马克斯·普朗克研究所的语言学家马丁说,人类大脑几乎能instantaneously地根据语法规则完成这一过程。)”可知,虽然理解一个简单句子需要复杂的处理,但大脑却能很快地根据语法规则完成这一过程。由此可知,instantaneously意为“立即,马上”,与immediately意思相近。故选A项。
33.推理判断题。根据第二段中“Interestingly, they found that, unlike previous English- based studies, which supported a “wait and see” model where listeners understand phrases only after they end, Dutch participants showed a strong tendency toward a highly predictive model- mentally completing phrases before they were finished. (有趣的是,他们发现,与之前基于英语的研究不同,之前的研究支持一种“等待并观察”的模式,即听众只有在短语结束后才理解短语,而荷兰参与者则表现出强烈的倾向,倾向于一种高度预测的模式 —— 在短语完成之前就在脑海中完成短语。)”可知,荷兰语参与者在听语言时倾向于在脑海中提前完成短语,即他们更喜欢猜测即将出现的单词。故选D项。
34.细节理解题。根据第三段中“However, he emphasizes that neither parsing (语法分析) strategy is necessarily better or worse. Instead, people adapt their processing style to fit the structure of the language they’re using, showing the brain’s flexibility across languages. (然而,他强调,两种语法分析策略都不一定更好或更差。相反,人们会调整自己的处理方式以适应他们所使用的语言的结构,这表明大脑在不同语言之间具有灵活性。)”可知,Coopmans认为两种语法分析策略没有优劣之分,人们会根据语言结构调整处理方式,即语法分析策略在理解语言中并不是那么重要。故选D项。
35.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“The findings highlight the need for more diverse subjects in linguistic research, says linguist Jixing Li, who focuses on how brain activity differs when processing languages like English and Chinese due to structural differences. Studying only neurotypical English speakers can miss key variations and limit model accuracy. (语言学家李继星专门研究由于结构差异,在处理英语和汉语等语言时大脑活动的差异,他说,这些发现突显了语言研究中需要更多样化的研究对象。只研究神经典型的英语使用者可能会错过关键的变化,并限制模型的准确性。)”和最后一段中“Diversifying subjects in studies of how the brain processes language “is going to help us capture how the brain is understanding the structured meaning of language, and the social utility of language, in many different ways,” Martin says. (马丁说,在研究大脑如何处理语言时,使研究对象多样化“将帮助我们从许多不同的方面捕捉大脑如何理解语言的结构意义和语言的社会效用”。)”可知,从最后两段可以学到在语言学研究中,使研究对象多样化是很有必要的。故选A项。

Paul, a high school exchange student, came to our school with excitement, hoping to learn about the culture and language. However, learning Chinese was much harder than he thought. The characters looked like a puzzle, and the different tones (声调) confused him. Every Chinese class was a struggle, and Paul felt disappointed. Our classmates tried to help, but it was hard for them to understand each other. One day, after a difficult lesson, Paul sat down sadly. He felt like giving up. That’s when I, his partner, decided to step in.
I loved languages and was good at making difficult things easier to understand. I could see how upset Paul was, so I went up to him. “Paul, I know Chinese is hard, but I believe you can do it,” I said. “Let’s study together.” Paul looked a little doubtful but felt grateful. We started meeting after school. I shared some tips on how to remember characters and practice tones. Slowly, Paul began to improve, but he still had trouble speaking.
One day, while we were practicing, Paul stopped and said, “I still find it difficult to open my mouth to speak with our classmates freely.” He looked discouraged. I gently reminded him, “Paul, remember why you came here. You wanted to experience China, and learning the language is part of that.” He nodded. Just then, our Chinese teacher walked by and overheard our conversation. He smiled and said, “Paul, speaking is the key to learning any language. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.” His words gave Paul some encouragement. We continued practicing, and I had an idea. “Let’s try something different,” I suggested. “We’ll visit a local market and practice speaking with the vendors (摊贩). Maybe you’ll meet someone at the market, who can help you practice speaking in real situations. It’ll be more interesting than just studying in the classroom.”
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

【答案】One possible version:

28.What is the best way for a child to sound like a native English speaker?
A.Start learning before 10 years old.
B.Learn English for at least 10 years.
C.Pay more attention to the grammar.
D.Study with the help of a native speaker.
29.Why does the author mention the grammar quiz in paragraph 4?
A.To introduce the largest data set.
B.To stress the importance of grammar.
C.To show the credibility of the findings.
D.To highlight the popularity of English.
30.How does Josh Tenenbaum feel about taking part in the study?
A.Regretful. B.Lucky.
C.Surprised. D.Confident.
31.What is mainly talked about in this text?
A.Decisive period for language learning.
B.Different theories on language learning.
C.Advantages of language learning for kids.
D.Challenges of language learning in Adults.
D

注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
