Show some pictures of the Earth from space on the PPT. Ask students: "What is this? What amazing facts do you know about the Earth?" Let students share their ideas briefly. Vocabulary introduction. Present the new words and phrases on the PPT one by one. Explain their meanings and pronunciations. For example, when teaching "amazing", show some amazing pictures of nature and say: "Look at these pictures. They are amazing. 'Amazing' means very surprising and causing a feeling of great admiration." Let students repeat the words several times to get familiar with them. While - reading (25 minutes) Skimming Ask students to read the text quickly without looking up new words. Then answer the question: "What is the main idea of this passage?" Give them 2 - 3 minutes to read. After that, invite some students to share their answers. Guide them to summarize that the passage is mainly about the amazing Earth, including its features, plants, animals, and its importance to us. Scanning Divide students into groups of four. Assign different paragraphs to each group. Let them read their assigned paragraphs carefully and find the key information, such as specific numbers, descriptions of geographical features, etc. For example, the group responsible for the second paragraph should find out information like "Some places are very hot, like the areas near the equator. Some are freezing cold, like the North and South Poles. The highest mountain on Earth is over 8,800 metres above sea level. And the deepest part of the sea is more than 10,000 metres down." Each group reports their findings to the class. Detailed Reading Read the text together with the students sentence by sentence. Explain the difficult sentences and language points. For example, when teaching "About 70% of the Earth is covered by the sea.", explain the passive voice structure "be covered by". And for "The Earth provides us with all the things we need, such as food, water, air and energy.", explain the phrase "provide sb. with sth." and the usage of "such as" for giving examples. Ask students to take notes. After explaining each paragraph, ask some questions related to the content to check students' understanding. For the third paragraph about plants, ask: "What are the examples of the wonderful plants on Earth?" Post - reading (10 minutes) Retelling Provide a mind map on the PPT with key words and phrases from the text. Ask students to retell the text according to the mind map in groups. Each group member takes turns to retell a part of the text. Then select some groups to perform in front of the class. Discussion Pose a discussion question: "Since the Earth is so important and amazing, what can we do to protect it?" Let students discuss in groups. Encourage them to use the language they learned in the text and their own ideas. After 3 - 4 minutes of discussion, each group selects a representative to share their group's opinions. Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summary Summarize the key points of this class with the students, including new words, phrases, key sentences, and the main content of the text. Emphasize the importance of protecting the Earth. Homework Ask students to write a short passage about the Earth, introducing at least three features of the Earth. Require students to collect more information about environmental protection and be ready to share it in the next class. 教学反思 In this class, the use of pictures, group work, and various reading activities can effectively arouse students' interest in learning. Most students actively participated in class discussions and showed great enthusiasm for sharing their ideas. However, a few students were still a bit shy and passive in group work. In the future, more attention should be paid to these students to encourage their active participation. The teaching of new words and language points was relatively smooth. But some students still had difficulty in using the new words and phrases correctly when speaking and writing. More practice exercises, such as making sentences and role - playing, need to be added in the following classes to strengthen their memory and usage. Regarding the discussion about environmental protection, students showed rich creativity and a strong sense of environmental awareness. This indicates that the emotional education objective has been achieved to a certain extent. But it would be better if more real - life cases and current environmental problems could be introduced in class to make the discussion more practical and in - depth. In terms of time management, the while - reading part took a little longer than expected, which made the post - reading discussion a bit rushed. Next time, the time for each activity should be more accurately controlled to ensure a more balanced teaching process. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
