(吉林长春中考改编)Most of us may often take no notice of ants. But this is not the case for Huang Yifan, a 17-year-old student from Shandong. He likes 1 , especially ants. He has discovered many interesting secrets behind their behaviour.
He found that though ants live underground for a long time, they can still find out whether other ants 2 the same nest(巢穴) by looking at, smelling and touching them.
To test his 3 , Huang made a nest with about 100 ants, using a plastic bottle. He took one ant out and painted its abdomen(腹部) blue. Then he put the painted ant back into the nest and waited to see what would happen to it. “After the ant which was painted blue goes into the nest, the other ants try to attack(攻击) it and pull it out of the nest

Huang’s achievements don’t depend on luck but on his great 8 . Huang has raised about 1 000 ants since he was ten, using his 9 of the needed temperature and light. Even if most people think the experiments are boring, he sticks to doing them

[环境保护]A new rubbish sorting system has been put into use in Beijing. Local people not only sort their rubbish, but also put QR codes(二维码) on it.
“When the rubbish is collected and the codes are scanned(扫描), I will get reward points to exchange for small gifts and even some money,” a local man said. “It’s really creative and encouraging.”
This smart system has been carried out in a great number of communities in Beijing. The capital of China has joined many cities in the country in taking action to support rubbish sorting. For example, Shenzhen and Shanghai have made laws to punish people for not sorting rubbish correctly.

China produces quite a lot of rubbish every year. Much of the rubbish is buried(填埋) in soil or burned without being sorted. Landfills(垃圾填埋场) take up a lot of land and risk polluting the soil and water nearby. And burning rubbish can produce harmful gases. Through rubbish sorting, we can reduce the need for landfills and air pollution.
What’s more, rubbish sorting saves resources, which could bring economic benefits(利益). For example, a ton of waste paper can be reused to make about 850 kg of paper, saving 17 trees and 50 percent of water. Because of these benefits, some countries have developed successful sorting systems.

bin for “general waste” like food and plastic bags, the yellow lid bin for “recycling” like steel and glass, and the green lid bin for “green waste” such as grass and leaves. In the streets, the bins are printed with pictures of the things that are allowed inside. It makes recycling quite easy.

(山西中考改编)Technology is the first power! It is a great joy and a matter of pride for Chinese people to see that China’s high technology is brightly shining from the sky to the ground.
It is widely known that China has well-developed high-speed railway network(铁路网) in the world. Now, the country is breaking its own speed record with the CR450. It can travel at a top speed of 453 kilometres an hour. Even though it can travel so fast, it can also start braking(刹车) quickly, taking just 1.7 seconds. Its

The AG60E is China’s self-developed lightweight two-seat electric plane. It is 6.9 metres long, 2.6 metres high and 8.6 metres wide. It is mainly designed for pilot training, flight experience, and private(私人的) travel. It uses an electric power system. Compared with the traditional plane, it doesn’t send out greenhouse gases,

and its noise level is much lower. The AG60E electric plane draws the world’s attention because it is a practice in China’s aviation industry(航空工业) to reduce air pollution. The AG60E is only a starting point. It is expected to become an important force to achieve green and low-carbon development in the field of aviation.
32. What is a great joy and a matter of pride for Chinese people according to the text?
