教学过程
A. Lead - in (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures of schools in different countries on the PPT, such as a British school and an American school. Then ask students: "Look at these pictures. What can you see? Are these schools the same? What are the possible differences?" Encourage students to share their initial thoughts about the differences between schools in different countries.
B. Presentation (15 minutes)
Present the new words related to school life on the PPT, including both British and American English versions. Teach the pronunciation, spelling and meaning of each word. For example:
Show a picture of an elevator and a lift, and say: "In American English, we call this 'elevator', while in British English, it is 'lift'."
Write the words on the blackboard and ask students to read them after the teacher several times.
Read the dialogue between Daniel and Simon in the textbook aloud to the students. While reading, ask students to listen carefully and pay attention to the words that are different in British and American English.
After reading, ask students to work in pairs. One student reads the British English version of the dialogue, and the other reads the American English version, replacing the corresponding words.
C. Practice (15 minutes)
Listening Practice
Play a short recording about school life in the UK and the US. The recording contains some key words and phrases that students have just learned.
Ask students to listen carefully and fill in the blanks with the words they hear. For example:
In the UK, students take the ____ (lift/elevator) to go upstairs.
American students like to watch ____ (films/movies) after school.
Check the answers together and play the recording again if necessary for students to clarify any misunderstandings.
Group Discussion
Divide students into groups of four. Give each group a topic: "Compare the school life in the UK and the US based on what we have learned".
Ask each group to discuss and list at least three differences, such as the names of school facilities, course names or extracurricular activities.
Each group selects a representative to report their discussion results to the whole class. The teacher gives some guidance and comments during the reports.
D. Production (5 minutes)
Role - play
Ask students to create their own dialogues about school life, using both British and American English words. They can imagine they are students from the UK and the US talking about their schools.
Some pairs of students come to the front of the class and perform their dialogues. The rest of the class listen and watch, and then vote for the most interesting and accurate dialogue.
E. Summary and Homework (5 minutes)

Ask students to recall some of the differences they have discussed and practiced in class.
Homework

Encourage students to watch some English - language movies or TV shows from the UK and the US to further observe the language differences.
教学反思
Positive Aspects
The use of pictures and real - life examples in the lead - in and presentation stages effectively attracted students' attention and made the abstract knowledge of language differences more vivid. Most students showed great interest in comparing the two types of English.
The group discussion and role - play activities provided students with sufficient opportunities to practice speaking English. Students actively participated in these activities, which improved their communication skills and confidence in using English.
Areas for Improvement
In the listening practice, some students still had difficulty in quickly identifying and writing down the correct words. In the future, more listening materials with different speeds and levels of difficulty should be provided to gradually improve their listening ability.
During the group discussion, a few students were relatively passive and did not contribute much to the group. In the next class, more attention should be paid to these students, and group work should be better organized to ensure that every student can actively participate.
Future Adjustments
According to the students' performance in this class, more vocabulary - building exercises and speaking practice related to school life will be designed in the following classes. For example, word - matching games and more complex role - play scenarios can be added.
In terms of teaching methods, more individual - centered teaching will be carried out to meet the different learning needs of students. For students with relatively weak English foundations, more basic vocabulary and sentence - making exercises will be provided, while for advanced students, more in - depth topics about cross - cultural communication in school life can be explored.
