①Imagine a smart robot that learns like humans—reading, practicing, and getting better every day. This is Artificial Intelligence (AI), the unknown helper behind many technologies (技术) we use daily.
②Like humans, AI needs to learn. AI learns by “eating” lots of data (数据)—a way in AI training. For example, by studying thousands of cough sounds, AI can tell if someone has a cold or a more serious illness. It finds something that humans might miss. However, AI doesn’t follow fixed (固定) rules. You know, Alarms can ring at set times and smart phones use face recognition (识别) to pay. But they are not AI because they need to follow fixed rules.
③Learning from mistakes is another way in AI training. When a chess-playing AI loses a game, it changes its plan, just like students learn from wrong answers. This makes AI stronger in tasks like guessing where storms will go or helping students make personal study plans.
④AI helps in many places. In hospitals, it checks X-ray photos faster than doctors, finding very small problems. On farms, AI drones (flying cameras) tell farmers which plants need water.
⑤Although AI is helpful in many areas, it has limits (限制). It can’t feel happy when winning a game or understand why a child is sad. As a scientist says, “AI is like a smart mirror—it shows what humans teach it, but it has no feelings.”
⑥From health to homework, AI changes our world not by magic, but by learning from data and its mistakes. Future AI might find math problems you struggle with or help protect cities from storms. Remember: humans will always guide AI’s journey.
19. The underlined word “It” in Paragraph ② refers to ________.

21. What is the article mainly about?
A. How AI follows fixed rules. B. The ways of AI’s learning and its real-life uses.
C. Why AI will replace doctors. D. The history of AI.
22. Which example BEST uses AI’s learning skills?
A. A door opening when it sees a face.
B. A clock ringing every morning at 7:00.
C. An app studying 100,00 pictures to draw a picture like Picasso’s.
D. A light turning red when the room is too hot.

For the fourth year in a row, Finland (芬兰) came in first in World Happiness Report. This may be surprising to you as Finland is famous for its cold winters and short daylight. Then learn about the people’s life there and you may find the answer.
In Finland, people’s life is comfortable. Many people grow up with the library. “The library is a main part of life for the people here,” Halsas, a tour guide in Finland, said. “They might do schoolwork there or just read. It’s a safe environment.” Perhaps the best example of this in practice is the Oodi Helsinki Central Library, which opened in 2018. The bright, open space has different areas. It was built to be not only a work space, but also a living room for the people.
Finns love their saunas (桑拿浴), and almost every home or apartment has one. Finland has a population of about 5.5 million, and there are over 2 million saunas in the country. “There are more saunas than cars here. In the summertime, I go every day,” Halsas said. Taking saunas is quite good for physical health, such as improving heart health and more. But the best reason to go? It is relaxing.
People also love exploring the outdoors, from their 40 national parks to different islands. So the life of Finland is healthy. It’s no wonder the population loves to go hiking or biking—the landscape (风景) is fantastic. “There is a lot of nature to enjoy and even private lands are open to everyone,” Halsas said. In winter, life doesn’t change too much from summertime because Finns get used to the cold and still get around on bicycles. To them, winter just means more activities, such as ice skating, cross-country skiing and dog sledding (雪橇).
23. What is Finland famous for?
A. Warm spring and beautiful sunshine. B. Cold winters and short daylight.
C. Comfortable saunas. D. Small population.

B. They hate to go outside during winter.
C. They like winter and enjoy outdoor activities like ice skating and skiing.
D. They like staying indoors and reading books in winter better.
25. What’s people’s life in Finland like?
A. Unhappy, dangerous and lonely. B. Comfortable, exciting but difficult.
C. Comfortable, relaxing and healthy. D. Interesting, wonderful but dangerous.
26. According to the article, which of the following is NOT mentioned (提到) as a reason for Finland’s happiness?
A. Free use of libraries as a “living room” for the public.
B The tradition of daily sauna use for relaxation and health.
C. Outdoor activities in national parks and winter landscapes.
D. Higher education and short working hours.
【答案】23. B 24. C 25. C 26. D

Lena stood alone before the old piano in grandma’s room, music singing in her mind. The piano was dirty under dusk moonlight. She remembered Grandma’s hands moving nicely over the keys, making music that could quiet even storms. Since Grandma passed away last winter, the piano stayed silent—just like Lena’s heart. She would never see her loved one again. Nothing could save her, Lena thought.
With shaking hands, she opened the piano. Old sheet music (乐谱) named “Resilience” caught her eyes. When she touched the middle key, a wrong note rang out. She felt tears coming. 【答案】例文
Dear Li Hua,
Thank you for sharing your feelings. I understand your situation. Here’s my advice.
Discuss a balanced plan with your parents. For example, spend mornings studying and afternoons relaxing outdoors. Rest is important because it reduces stress and helps you study better later.
Explain to your parents that outdoor activities like hiking or sports can refresh your mind. As a result, you may focus better on studies. You could say: “I will study for 3 hours daily, but a short break will make me more efficient.”
Remember, good communication helps them understand your needs. Stay calm and polite when talking to them. I believe they will support you!
Yours,

A. a robot B. humans C. Artificial Intelligence D. a computer
20. Which group best shows the article’s structure?
A. ①/②③/④⑤/⑥ B. ①/②/③④/⑤⑥
C. ①②/③④/⑤⑥ D. ①/②③④/⑤/⑥

24. What do Finnish people think about winter?
A. They dislike winter because of the cold weather.
B. The tradition of daily sauna use for relaxation and health.
C. Outdoor activities in national parks and winter landscapes.
D. Higher education and short working hours.

Each day, she tried again and again. As time passed, the music slowly came out, becoming clearer. She knew she could play even better. A small hope began to bloom in her heart.
One evening, as a sweet smell filled the air, Lena’s fingers suddenly remembered Grandma’s favorite lullaby (催眠曲). From the corner came a light wind with the smell of roses—Grandma’s favorite flower. Lena’s music grew stronger, wrapping around her like a hug (拥抱). For the first time since winter, her heart felt light.
27. What’s the meaning of “bloom” in Paragraph 2?
A. grow B. drop C. raise D. control
28. How did Lena’s feelings change?
A. Sad→Angry→Happy B. Bored→Excited→Tired
C. Sad→Hopeful→Peaceful D. Lonely→Sad→Excited
29. Can you guess what Lena would do next?
A. Sell the piano. B. Keep playing the piano.
C. Forget the music. D. Never step into the room.
