Step 1 Leading in
1.Greet the class.
2.Ask students to share their family members’ hobbies.
Step 2 Work on Activity 1
1.Have students look at the two pictures and think about what each picture shows.
2.Discuss the answers in pairs by using the words and expression in the boxes.
3.Encourage students to share their thoughts in class.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2
1.Ask students to look at the title and the pictures,and guess what the passage is about.
2.Let students read the passage and check the answer.
Step 4 Work on Activity 3
1.Have students read the passage again and underline the unfamiliar words and phrases.
2.After reading,ask students to choose the best main idea of the passage in Activity 3.
3.Check the answer.
4.Use vocabulary cards or PPT to introduce and explain key words and expressions.
5.Ask students to take notes of the new words and their meanings.
Step 5 Work on Activity 4
1.Have students read the passage again and complete the chart with the words and expressions from the passage.
2.Check the answers.
3.Have some students retell the passage.
Step 6 Think and share
1.Ask students to work in groups of four to think about the questions.
(1)What does “An idea suddenly hits me” mean?
(2)“Everybody moves with our music.”How do you think the listeners feel?
2.Guide students to think about the second question from the following question:How does a writer describe actions to show the feeling?
3.Invite some students to share their answers.
4.Evaluate the answers and give the reading skill:Sometimes,the writer does not write about the feeling directly.They describe actions to show the feeling.

本节课通过阅读理解和相关问题的讨论,学生能够深入理解文本内容并运用新词汇和表达。学生基本都能够理解文章的主旨大意,但在理解作者的写作手法方面,部分学生还需进一步练习。在后面教学中,可以通过一些练习加深学生对文章写作手法的理解并学会应用。
