How to Make a DIY Mooncake Box Storage
Do you have old mooncake boxes at home? Don’t throw them away! You can turn them into useful storage boxes with simple DIY steps. Here’s how:
1. Prepare Materials: You need an old mooncake box, coloured paper, glue, a brush, scissors and some stickers (optional).
2. Clean the Box: First, take out any remaining mooncakes and clean the box inside and out. Dry it completely—wet boxes will make the glue not stick.
3. Cover with Coloured Paper: Cut the coloured paper into pieces that fit the box. Use the brush to put glue on the back of the paper, then stick it onto the box. Be careful not to use too much glue, or the paper will get wet and tear.
4. Decorate (Optional): You can add stickers, draw patterns with chalk, or make a small paper rose to stick on the box. This makes your storage box more beautiful.
5. Finish: Let the box dry for 1-2 hours. Then you can use it to store small things like buttons, gloves, or DIY tools.
This DIY project is easy and fun. It helps you reuse old things and reduce waste. Try it at home!

A. A new mooncake box, paint and tape. B. An old mooncake box, coloured paper and glue.

Dear Tom,
I’m writing to tell you about my first DIY experience—it was fun but a little messy!
Last Saturday, I decided to make a DIY lamp for my bedroom. I found an old metal can, some coloured paper, glue, a string of small lights and a pair of scissors.
First, I cleaned the can and dried it. Then I used a hammer and nail to make small holes in the can (my dad helped me with this because it was dangerous). Next, I cut the coloured paper into small stars and glued them onto the can. But I made a mistake—I used too much glue, and the paper stars got stuck together. I had to start over with new paper!
After that, I put the string of lights into the can and closed the top. I plugged it in, and it worked! The light came through the small holes and made beautiful patterns on the wall. I was so proud. But my desk was in a mess—there was glue, paper and scissors everywhere. I spent 20 minutes tidying it up.
This experience taught me that DIY needs patience. Even if you make mistakes, you can try again. Now I’m crazy about DIY. Next, I want to learn tie-dye. Do you like DIY? Have you ever made anything by yourself?
Write back soon!
Yours,
Li Hua
