"not as/so + adj./adv. + as" means one thing is not equal to another in a certain aspect. e.g. This book is not as interesting as that one. 教学过程 A. Warming - up (5 minutes) Greet the students and show some pictures of pairs of people (some are very similar and some are very different). Ask students to look at the pictures and quickly describe the similarities and differences they can see. For example: "The two girls in the first picture are similar. They both have long hair. But they are different in clothes. One is wearing a dress and the other is wearing jeans." This activity aims to activate students' prior knowledge about comparison and lead them into the topic of this class. B. Vocabulary Presentation (10 minutes) Write the key vocabulary words on the blackboard or show them on the PPT. Pronounce each word clearly and ask students to repeat after you several times. Explain the meaning and usage of each word with examples. For example, when teaching "similar", show two similar objects and say, "Look at these two pens. They are similar. They have the same color and shape. We can say 'These two pens are similar to each other'." For some words that are easy to be confused, such as "look like" and "be like", give more detailed explanations and examples. "Look at the twins. They look like each other. They have the same appearance. But their personalities are different. One is outgoing and the other is shy. We can say 'They look like each other, but they are not like each other in character'." Let students work in pairs to make up sentences using the new words they have just learned. Walk around the classroom to offer help and check their sentences. C. Listening Activity (10 minutes) Tell students that they are going to listen to a conversation between two people talking about their friends. Before listening, show them some questions on the PPT, such as: What do they think friends should be like? Are their friends similar to them or different from them? What are the similarities and differences? Play the recording for the first time. Students just listen and try to get a general idea of the conversation. Play the recording again. This time, ask students to listen carefully and take notes to answer the questions. After listening, check the answers with the whole class. Let students share their notes and discuss any differences in their answers. D. Group Discussion (10 minutes) Divide students into groups of 4 - 5. Give each group a topic related to friendship and similarities/differences, such as "Do you think it's more important for friends to be similar or different? Why?" or "Share an interesting story about your friendship with someone who is very different from you." Ask each group to have a discussion. Encourage students to use the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned in this class. Walk around the groups to monitor the discussion and offer guidance when necessary. Select some groups to report their discussion results to the whole class. Other groups can ask questions or make comments. E. Summary and Homework Assignment (10 minutes) Summarize the key vocabulary, phrases, and grammar points of this class with the students. Write a brief summary on the blackboard or show it on the PPT. Assign homework: Ask students to write a short passage about their best friend, comparing themselves with their friend in terms of personality, hobbies, etc. using at least 8 new words and 3 comparative or superlative sentence patterns. Ask students to find some English articles or stories about friendship and mark the words and sentence patterns related to comparison. 教学反思 After this class, I need to reflect on several aspects. First, in terms of vocabulary teaching, did students really understand and master the new words? Some students might still have difficulty in using words like "character" and "personality" correctly. Maybe I should provide more real - life examples and more practice opportunities. Second, during the listening activity, were the questions too difficult or too easy for students? If some students couldn't catch the key information, I need to adjust the difficulty level of future listening materials and questions. Third, in the group discussion, did all students actively participate? Some shy students might not have fully expressed their opinions. In the future, I should find more ways to encourage their participation, such as giving more praise and guidance. Overall, I need to continuously improve my teaching methods based on students' learning situations to make the class more effective. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
