The content also involves the use of adjectives to describe holiday feelings, like "fantastic", "relaxing", and "fun", and the application of the simple past tense in asking and answering questions about holiday activities.

1 Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students and start a free talk. Ask them some simple questions like "How was your weekend?" to lead in the topic of holidays.
Show some pictures of different holiday scenes, such as beaches, mountains, and cities, on the PPT. Ask students to describe what they see in the pictures briefly.
2 Pre - listening (10 minutes)
Present new words and phrases on the PPT, such as "fantastic", "take one's breath away", "steamed chicken soup", etc. Teach students how to pronounce them correctly and explain their meanings with examples.
Ask students to look at the pictures in 2a and predict what Peter and Adam might talk about in the conversation. Encourage them to share their predictions in pairs.
3 While - listening (15 minutes)
Play the recording of 2a for the first time. Students listen carefully and choose the correct sentences to complete the conversation. After that, check the answers together.
Play the recording again. This time, students listen and complete the table in 2b, which includes information about Peter's and Adam's holiday destinations, activities, and feelings. Check the answers and ask some students to read out their completed tables.
Let students read the conversation in 2a aloud in pairs, paying attention to the pronunciation and intonation. Then, ask them to act out the conversation in front of the class.
4 Post - listening (10 minutes)
In 2c, ask students to read the conversation again and complete the summary. Check the answers and have students read the summary aloud.
Conduct a group discussion. Divide the class into groups of four. Each group discusses their own holiday experiences using the sentence patterns and vocabulary they have learned. Each group chooses a representative to share their group's discussion results with the whole class.
5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summarize the key points of this class, including new words, phrases, sentence patterns, and the usage of the simple past tense.
Assign homework:
Ask students to write a short passage about their last holiday, using at least five sentences and the key words and phrases learned in this class.
Let students listen to the conversation in 2a several times after class to improve their listening skills.
教学反思
After this class, students should have a better understanding of how to talk about holiday experiences using the simple past tense and relevant vocabulary. However, some students may still have difficulties in using irregular verb forms correctly. In future classes, more exercises and real - life examples can be provided to strengthen their understanding and usage. Also, during group discussions, some students were a bit shy to express themselves. Teachers need to encourage them more and create a more relaxed and supportive classroom atmosphere to promote students' active participation in language communication.
