In real life, you can see science and technology everywhere now. In the near future, your life will be full of more amazing technologies. They will make your life easier and make learning more exciting!
Before school
Imagine waking up in the morning, your breakfast machine has already prepared a meal for your family. There is no need to carry heavy schoolbags because all your textbooks, notebooks, and even homework will be in a small magical tablet (平板电脑). As you sit down at the table, your tablet will show you a to-do list (清单) for the day.
On the way to school
Instead of walking to school, you will usually use self-driving cars. They can take you right there. These cars know where to go and can even tell you fun facts about science or history. If the road is busy, you might even take school planes.
At school
The walls of classrooms can turn into big screens for you to watch 10D videos. The school library can “think” and make you feel the “real” environment. When the teacher tells a story about the forest, the trees will “appear” around you. You can smell the flowers and hear the birds singing. You can even feel the raindrops falling on your faces. Lunchtime will be super cool! There might even be a robot cook in the dining hall who prepares healthy and delicious meals just for you.
▲
Your family smart helper knows about your learning needs. They can help you practice reading or math skills in a fun way. You can join clubs like “Robot Builders”. In the clubs, you can make your own robots that can do housework or play games with you.

Computers have become smarter in recent years. The AI-powered chatbot (人工智能聊天机器人) ChatGPT is able to answer questions, write articles and do translations like a human. It has caused excitement all over the world. Like most products these days, ChatGPT wasn’t made by just one person. Instead, it was developed by a group of engineers at OpenAI. But according to the company, one man played an especially important role. That man is Jakub Pachocki.
Pachocki is a programmer (程序员). He has been interested in AI for many years. He wants to use this technology to make computers smarter. In 2017, the man joined OpenAI. There he taught a robot to play Dota 2, an online game. Pachocki made the robot play against itself over and over until it reached the professional level.
Pachocki began working on ChatGPT in 2018. His job was to pretrain (预训练) the AI system. The man and his team made computers study billions of words. These words came from books, magazines, websites and so on. They covered many different topics. By studying these words, the system learnt the patterns (模式) of human language. This process (过程) helped it develop the ability to “chat” about different topics like a real person.
Although Pachocki is very talented, he has kept a low profile (保持低调). He seldom talks to the media. He is not active on social media either. The programmer, instead, focuses on his work. He spends most of his time trying to make computers smarter.
Does ChatGPT’s intelligence (智力) surprise you? Well, now you know there are smart minds like Pachocki behind it. Computers are not getting smarter on their own.

What will our life be like in 50 years? I think we will live on Mars. Here is what life will be like there.
First of all, transport should be much better. Now, our spaceships (宇宙飞船) are too slow to carry lots of people to space—it takes months. However, in the future, it will take us two or three days to get to Mars by spaceship!
Many people believe that robots will do most of our work, so we will have more time for our hobbies.
How about the food, water, and air? Scientists will be able to develop plants that can be grown on Mars. These plants will produce (产 出) the food and air we need. However, can these plants give water to us? There is no answer now.
There are also some problems for us. Mars pulls us much less than the Earth does. This will be dangerous because we can easily jump too high and fly slowly away into space. To stop this, humans on Mars have to wear special shoes to put on weight (重量). What’s more, food will look like pills (药片) and will not be as delicious as it is today.
1.What will the future spaceship be like?

People will live in the sea. Everyone will be able to swim. People will have a computer at home. They will do a lot of things on computers, so they won’t go out to work. They will work at home. They can talk to their friends on computers.
People will also use ships and planes a lot. They won’t use any cars, so cars won’t be popular. And ships and planes can carry them everywhere. Maybe there will be traffic jams in the sea and air.
People will live a happy life in the future.
1.What will you do if you want to live a long life?

Attention, people of earth:
Fine. The big secret is out. Your finest scientists have found there is life here, on our beautiful planet Venus(金星).
Congratulations! We have something to say:
Stay away, no exploration (探索):
We are serious. Stay away from us. If we wake up one morning and look out and see someone wandering around in a spacesuit, we are going to be really ticked off.
We mean no hostility (恶意). We’re actually a very nice planet. It’s just that we’re scared by what you’ve done down there. Earth looks like a mess,it is completely ruined (破坏). You’ve got health crises (危机), environmental crises, political crises. You keep fighting about face masks. No wonder so many of you want to leave Earth for another planet.
Leave us alone. Stay right where you are.
We know you’d like it here. That’s what scares us. You’d all move to Venus in a minute. We’ve got beautiful weather, little traffic, a proper cost of living. On Venus, you can only buy a three-bedroom for, like $135,000. (Paragraph 7)
Crazy, right?
In all fairness, you’ve got some good stuff over there, too. Earth does have its attractive qualities. We’re jealous of the Qomolangma, the Amazon rainforest, and the Palace Museum.
But we live in a fragile (脆弱的) solar system. We can only deal with so much. If we start having you all up here, pretty soon, the Martians and Jupiterians (火星人和木星人) are going to want to come, too. Trust us: you don’t want them sleeping on your sofa, drinking all your beer.
We’ve been there before, and they left this place a mess.
Cool your enthusiasm (热情). We’re not your escape plan. Venus is not Earth 2.
We wish you the best in saving your planet.
Sincerely,
Venus

A.It will be much slower.

Sincerely,
Venus
