I. Teaching Objectives
Learn about different landscapes (oceans, deserts, forests, mountains, rivers, plains) and extract key information from listening to complete notes.
Improve speaking skills by talking about landscapes in pairs, using a model conversation about famous rivers and other landscapes.
Share knowledge about Chinese landscapes for each type in Part A, enhancing cultural and geographical understanding.

Jenny: Do you know any famous rivers, Daniel?
Daniel: I know the Yangtze River.
Jenny: Can you tell me something about it?
Daniel: Well, it’s about 6,300 kilometres long and most of it runs through mountains.
Jenny: Wow! What a long river!
Daniel: Yes. It rises in the mountains of Qinghai Province and runs all the way to the East China Sea.
Which landscapes in Part A do you know in China? Talk with your partner about at least two examples for each landscape.

III. Teaching Procedures
Learning activities:
Step 1 Lead - in
Show a picture of beautiful landscapes (the one in the textbook).
T: What do you think of when you hear “beautiful landscapes”? What landscapes do you know? Invite Ss to share their knowledge about different landscapes. Then say: Today, we will learn about different landscapes and talk about them.
Step 2 Listening & Completing (Activity A)
Listen about landscapes
T: Daniel is learning about landscapes with the Geography Club. Listen to the introductions and complete the notes.
Play the audio. Ask Ss to fill in blanks about oceans (71%), deserts (at night), forests (fresh), mountains (trees), rivers (sea), plains (one third). Then check answers.
Step 3 Pair Work: Talking about Landscapes (Activity B)
Talk about landscapes in pairs
T: Daniel and Jenny are talking about landscapes. Work in pairs and discuss what you know about landscapes using the model conversation.
Divide Ss into pairs. Ask them to practice the conversation first, then talk about other landscapes (e.g., “Do you know any famous mountains? I know Mount Tai. Can you tell me something about it? Well, it's in Shandong Province and is one of the Five Great Mountains in China.”). Walk around to help with vocabulary and sentence structures. Then invite some pairs to share their conversations.
Step 4 Sharing Chinese Landscapes (Activity C)
Talk about Chinese landscapes
T: Which landscapes in Part A do you know in China? Talk with your partner about at least two examples for each landscape.
Ask Ss to think of Chinese examples for each landscape (e.g., oceans: Bohai Sea, South China Sea; deserts: Taklimakan Desert, Badain Jaran Desert; forests: Daxing'anling Forest, Yunnan Tropical Rainforest) and share with their partners. Then invite some Ss to share with the class.
IV. Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness
Assess Ss' listening comprehension by checking their answers in Activity A.
Evaluate Ss' speaking skills by observing their conversations in Activity B, checking if they can use correct landscape - related vocabulary and sentence patterns.
Observe Ss' ability to share Chinese landscape examples in Activity C, using appropriate geographical vocabulary.
This lesson helps Ss learn about different landscapes and improve vocabulary and speaking skills related to geography.
V. Design Purpose
The lead - in activates Ss' knowledge about landscapes, sparking interest in the lesson topic.
Listening and completing activity helps Ss learn and recognize vocabulary about different landscapes.
Pair work and sharing activities provide practice in talking about landscapes and Chinese examples, encouraging communication and application of learned vocabulary.

VII. Homework
Review the vocabulary related to different landscapes.
Draw a picture of a landscape you like and write a short paragraph about it, using the landscape - related vocabulary learned.
VIII. Teaching Reflection
The activities effectively helped Ss learn about different landscapes. Ss showed good engagement in the pair work task. However, some Ss might need more practice in using landscape - related vocabulary naturally. In future lessons, more oral practice with these words can be added.
