Each year many people get lost in the mountains. Losing one’s way in the forest can be an uneasy and terrible experience. However, if you find you’ve got lost, stop at once. In many cases, you will find that following your footsteps will bring you back to the road. If not, follow these steps:
Stay calm. If you get lost, panic is your greatest enemy. If you run wildly around, even for a little while you could lose your sense of direction. Try to remember how you got to your present location.
Start marking. Leave markers wherever you go, so you can return back. Also, if someone tries to rescue (营救) you, they will look for markers. So make as many of them as you can. On every turn, try to mark the direction you are taking. You got off the road, maybe ten minutes ago, so if you retrace (折回) more than that time, you know you are on the wrong way.
Stay put. Remember that if you can’t retrace your steps, then it's better to just stay where you are and let the searchers find you. Sing loudly or shout for help when you hear others trying to find you. If you have a whistle (哨子), blow it. Moreover, stay in the open so they can find you easily. Do not hide in the unseen areas.
Follow down a river. It can be hard going but will often lead to a road. And you will finally come back to a village or a town.

5.If you CANNOT retrace your steps, what should you do to help the searchers find you?
A.Hide in the unseen areas of the forest. B.Sit down and wait quietly for a rescue.
C.Stay in the open and shout for help. D.Follow a river to find a trail.

④To mark the direction you are taking. ⑤To help find the river.

The Chinese video game, Black Myth: Wukong (《黑神话:悟空》), made the classic story of Journey to the West popular around the world in 2024. Actually, the story in the video game has been recreated, which is not the same as the classic story about the monkey Sun Wukong (Monkey King), protecting the monk Tang Sanzang on his journey.
In fact, the story of Monkey King has fascinated people around the world for a long time. British sinologist (汉学家) Arthur Waley’s 1942 English translation brought the story to many English readers. Later, Sun Wukong went into the world of pop culture through the Japanese TV show Saiyuki in the 1970s and 80s. And many more retellings followed.
But what makes this story so interesting around the world? Many people enjoy Journey to the West for its common themes. People everywhere love the rebellious role—Sun Wukong, who breaks the rules of Heaven and tries to escape the hand of the great Buddha. As the writer Li Tianfei told China Daily, the story of Sun Wukong and his companions is not just a cultural treasure but a story with the universal meaning. “In most people’s hearts, Journey to the West is about freedom and growth,” Li said.
Sun Wukong’s journey is a lot like the stories of heroes in Western cultures, such as Hercules from Greek myths. These stories show heroes who might make mistakes but become better over time, just like today’s superheroes. Sun Wukong learned the lesson that “with great power comes great responsibility” long before superheroes like Spider-Man.
This is why people all over the world like to create new stories about Journey to the West. Movie site IMDb (互联网电影资料库) lists 78 versions in film and TV. Beyond that, it has been adapted through other art forms.
9.What is the second paragraph mainly about?
A.Why people enjoyed Monkey King story.
B.How Monkey King story was followed.
C.When Arthur Waley translated Monkey King story.
D.Where Sun Wukong went through the Japanese TV show.
10.What does the underlined word “rebellious” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Easy to get on with. B.Unwilling to obey rules.
C.Powerful enough to fight. D.Worth to be respected.
11.What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to?
A.Film and TV. B.Spider-Man.
C.Journey to the West. D.Movie site IMDb.
12.Why do people like to create new stories about Journey to the West?
A.To tell more classic stories of the novel to the world.
B.To stress heroes are powerful enough to save the world.
C.To create more perfect heroes who take the responsibility.
D.To show how heroes become better through correcting mistakes.

And many more retellings followed.”可知,第二段列举了《西游记》在不同时期通过翻译、日本电视剧等方式传播的过程,选项B“孙悟空故事如何被后续改编”概括了段落核心。故选B。
10.词句猜测题。根据划线词后“Sun Wukong, who breaks the rules of Heaven and tries to escape the hand of the great Buddha.”可知,后文提到孙悟空违反天规,孙悟空具有“不服从规则”的特质,划线词指的是“不愿遵守规则”。故选B。

Spring Festival is a holiday for everyone
On Dec. 4, 2024, UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) said Spring Festival is a world intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产).
Spring Festival is China’s oldest and most important traditional festival. UNESCO said it helps bring families and people closer together. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman (外交部发言人) Lin Jian said that it shows the ideas of peace (和平) and togetherness. He also advised (建议) people to visit China and experience the festival in person.
Now, about 20 countries have made the first day of the Chinese New Year a public (公共的) holiday. About 20% of people around the world celebrate Spring Festival in their own ways. The important ideas of Spring Festival make it not just a Chinese festival, but one for everybody.
