We knew the scientist who had studied the problem.
We knew the physical scientist Hawking, who had studied the problem.
His daughter who is in Boston now is coming home next week.
His daughter, who is in Boston now,is coming home next week.
1.在much或all后用that,不用which,作定语从句的宾语时可以省略。
Mr Brown demanded to know all that had happened.
There was not much (that) I could do for him.
Who is the girl that you bought the flowers for?
误:Who is the girl that you bought the flowers?
The lady I wrote the poem for was my sister.
Do you know the poet to whom our teacher referred just now?
He asked a question to which there was no answer.
He received the email he was looking forward to.
误:He received the email to which he was looking forward.
This is the old man I am looking after.
误:This is the old man after whom I am looking.
