(2a) Task: Play the 2a audio. Students number the pictures [1 - 5].
(2b) Task: Play audio again. Students fill in the blanks in the sentences in 2a:

My alarm didn't go off so I woke up late.
I took a hot shower and ate some warm food.
I was waiting for the bus when it began to rain heavily.
I ran to the bus stop but I still missed the bus.
Play audio again for confirmation.
Step 3 Retelling Story and Role - Playing (15 minutes)
(2c) Task: Students use the information in 2a to retell the story in a conversation between the boy and a TV reporter. Model:
TV reporter: Tell us what happened yesterday morning.
Boy: Well, yesterday morning, my alarm didn't go off so I woke up late. Then I took a hot shower and ate some warm food. After that, I ran to the bus stop but I still missed the bus. When the rainstorm began, I was waiting for the bus. And earlier, I was so busy looking for my umbrella that I didn't see a car coming.
(2d) Task: Students role - play the conversation between Mary and Linda. Encourage using the past continuous tense naturally.
Step 4 Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summary: Recap the past continuous tense (was/were + doing) and vocabulary related to the rainstorm.
Homework:
Write down sentences using the past continuous tense to describe what you were doing at different times yesterday.
Practice the 2d conversation with a classmate.
