Students can improve speaking skills by retelling the story in their own words and role - playing conversations about the story. Step 3 Retelling Story and Role - Playing (15 minutes) (2c) Task: Students look at the pictures in 2a and tell the story Yu Gong Moves the Mountains in their own words. Example: Once upon a time, there was an old man called Yu Gong. There were two very high and big mountains near his house. It was difficult for him and his family to go out. So Yu Gong decided to move the mountains. A man saw Yu Gong and his family working on moving the mountains. The man told Yu Gong he could never do it because he was old and weak. Yu Gong said that after he died, his family would continue to move the mountains. Finally, a god was so moved by Yu Gong that he sent two gods to help take the mountains away. (2d) Task: Students role - play the conversation about the story Yu Gong Moves the Mountains. Encourage expressing different opinions on solving problems. Step 4 Discussing Story Questions (5 minutes) (1c) Task: Students discuss the questions with their partner: How does the story begin? → There was an old man named Yu Gong who wanted to move two high and big mountains. What happened next? → Yu Gong and his family started to move the mountains, and a man told him he couldn't do it, but Yu Gong said his family would continue. Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains? → They would put them into the sea. Share discussions with the class. Step 5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summary: Recap story title - picture matching, Yu Gong Moves the Mountains story content, and key vocabulary.
