Jenn Larson was just 14 years old when she took over the bookkeeping for her family’s
dairy farm near Firth, Idaho. She soon saw firsthand how challenging it was for her parents,
who lacked any college education, to properly manage the unpredictable earnings of farming.
This started a lifelong passion for finance, and it led her down an unexpected path to becoming
a role model she never had.
Yet, such ambitions ran in obvious contrast to everything familiar to her. “I didn’t have any
advisors,” Larson says. “I didn’t have anyone to look up to for a professional example. All the
women I associated with were stay-at-home moms.” Despite having parents who couldn’t fully
understand her ambitions, Larson went to the BYU Marriott School, where she earned a
business degree and focused much of her coursework on international finance.
Larson worked for seven years as a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual,
advising clients on important financial decisions. Larson returned to BYU Marriott in 2008 to
earn an MBA, and accepted a position in the school as an assistant professor following her
graduation. For more than a decade, Larson has taught finance classes to undergraduate and
MBA students. While she teaches finance, Larson tries to help her students see how mastering
finance principles can also impact their personal lives.
Constantly balancing motherhood and work, Larson makes adjustments to the way she
teaches. She gave birth to her first three children in three years while teaching at BYU Marriott,
wondering at times if labor might start while in front of a class full of students. During the
pandemic, Larson taught online classes from her dining room table while taking care of a
newborn and other young children at home.
As a female instructor in the often male-dominated finance industry, Larson works to
inspire other women who seek a similar path to hers. Larson became the role model that she
never had — the example that a 14-year-old girl staring at a farming expense sheet couldn’t
find. Now, Labson’s children and students will always have that example.
24.What motivated Larson to major in finance?
A.Her desire for college education.
B.Her experience of managing accounts.
C.The high expectations from her parents.
D.The challenging labor on her dairy farm.
25.What problem did Larson face when she decided to study finance?
A.She had no one to ask for advice.
B.She was unsure about the coursework.
C.She was misunderstood by her neighbours.
D.She was unfamiliar with everything at school.
26.Which of the following can best describe Larson?
A.Brave and considerate. B.Determined and caring.
C.Ambitious and gifted. D.Passionate and hard-working.

27.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Following Your Interest B.Balancing Work and Family
C.Becoming Your Own Role Model D.Seeking to Be a Role Model

YouTube phenomenon IShowSpeed’s recent tour of China is unexpectedly gaining
millions of views and challenging Western perceptions(认知 ) of China. The 19-year-old
streamer, with his 37 million followers, has become an accidental ambassador(大使 ) for
Chinese soft power through his exploration of Beijing and Shanghai.
Speed’s livestreams from China have captured global attention, as he bounced between
iconic landmarks like the Great Wall and engaged with locals in impromptu ( 即 兴 的 )
interactions. His widely-spread moments — like performing backflips(后空翻 ) at the Great
Wall or challenging locals to ping-pong matches — have generated unprecedented interest in
Chinese culture among young global audiences.
His content has created a rare crossover moment between Western and Chinese social
media ecosystems. China’ s state media like Global Times have highlighted how his streams
represent a new form of cultural exchange, capturing audiences in ways conventional media
cannot.
The tour coincides perfectly with China’s efforts to revitalize tourism and reshape its
global image. Chinese officials have strategically embraced Speed’s visit, seeing it as an
opportunity to present a more nuanced view of the country. Speed's livestreams vividly reflect
all aspects of ordinary Chinese people’s daily lives. The comment sections of his videos are
filled with viewers expressing surprise at China’s modernity and the warmth of its people —
perceptions that differ markedly from typical Western media portrayals.
While doubters might question whether such visits represent real cultural exchange or
carefully orchestrated soft power, the impact on viewers remains significant. There’s also open
acknowledgment from the likes of Shaun Rein, the founder and Managing Director of the China
Market Research Group, who has written numerous books that promote China’ s culture on a
global scale. Rein exclaimed, “Speed has done more to help China’s soft power in one day than
I have in my 30-year career. All hail Speed.”
IShowSpeed’s China adventures demonstrate how individual content creators can bridge
cultural divides in ways traditional diplomacy often fails to achieve.

In the race to develop artificial intelligence (AI) systems that can outperform humans,
DeepSeek, one cutting-edge technology, developed by a team of researchers in Asia, has
already demonstrated its ability to revolutionize industries ranging from healthcare to finance.
However, as DeepSeek’s capabilities grow, so do the ethical questions surrounding its use.
One of the most impressive features of DeepSeek is its ability to analyze vast amounts of
data in real time. For example, in healthcare, it has been used to predict disease outbreaks by
analyzing patterns in patient data. In finance, it has helped banks find fraud with very high
accuracy. Yet, these advancements come with a price. It raises concerns about privacy and
consent (允许). Who owns the data being used, and how can we ensure it is not misused?
Another area where DeepSeek has shown promise is in natural language processing
(NLP). Its ability to understand and generate human language has made it a valuable tool for
translation services. However, critics argue that this technology could be weaponized to spread
misinformation or influence public opinions. The recent controversy over AI-generated
deepfake videos is also a reminder of the potential dangers.
Despite these challenges, people who support DeepSeek argue that its benefits far
outweigh the risks. They point to its potential to solve some of the world’s most pressing
problems, such as climate change and poverty. For instance, DeepSeek has been used to make
smarter cities consume less energy, reducing carbon emissions significantly. In agriculture, it
has helped farmers increase crop yields by analyzing soil data.
The debate about DeepSeek’s ethical influences is far from settled. Some call for stricter
regulations to prevent misuse, while others believe that innovation should not be stopped
because of fear. As we move forward, one thing is clear: the future of AI will depend on our
ability to pursue balance between progress and responsibility.
32.What is an advantage of DeepSeek in the field of healthcare according to the text?
A.Identifying some rare diseases.
B.Cutting patients’ medical treatment costs.
C.Helping doctors plan treatment procedures.
D.Predicting disease outbreaks through data analysis.
33.What potential risk might arise from DeepSeek’s NLP technology?
A.To spread false information in public.
B.To cause virtual assistants to become less intelligent.
C.To result in a decrease in the quality of translation services.
D.To bring about a reduction of job opportunities in the IT field.
34.What is the author’s overall attitude towards DeepSeek?
A.Supportive. B.Indifferent. C.Objective. D.Opposed.
35.What is the main idea of the text?
A.The technical issues of DeepSeek.
B.The ethical problems of DeepSeek.
C.The industries that DeepSeek helps.
D.The development history of AI in Asia.
第二节:(共 5小题:每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项
为多余选项。
My husband and I just spent a week in Paris. 36 So the first thing we did was rent
a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard. It was so tiny that we had
to leave our suitcases in the hallway.
The place wasn’t entirely authentic, though. Unlike a normal Parisian apartment, the
plumbing (水管) worked. 37 Our building even had a tiny lift with a female voice that
6
said, “Ouverture des portes,” in perfect French. That is the only French phrase I mastered, and
it’s a shame I don’t have much use for it.
Parisians are different from you and me. They never look lazy or untidy. As someone
noted in this paper a couple of weeks ago, they eat great food and never gain weight. 38
French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little
flavor bombs.
39 On our first morning in Paris, I went around the corner to the food market to
pick up some groceries. I bought a handful of perfectly ripe small strawberries and a little sweet
melon. My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!
In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency.
You can tell this by cafés life. French cafés are always crowded. 40 When do
these people work? The French take their 35-hour workweek seriously — so seriously that
some labor unions recently struck a deal with a group of companies limiting the number of
hours that independent contractors can be on call.
A.Not all the customers are tourists.
B.The quality of life in France is equally excellent.
C.There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed.
D.The amazing food is mainly consumed by local farmers.
E.That’s not the only reason the French eat less than we do.
F.Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians.
G.The food is so delicious that you don’t need much of it to make you happy.

阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, noted for its vast grasslands and rich wandering
traditions, offers 56 unique and delicious food heritage centered around dairy products.
Contrary to common 57 (misconception), not all of Inner Mongolia's dairy products
are cheese. Let's name but a few. One of the most representative dairy products is Milk Tofu.
Despite the name, it bears no relation to the tofu 58 (contain) nutritional content from
soybeans. Instead, it is a firm, flavorful dairy product that 59 (make) by heating and
straining skimmed milk. Mongolian families traditionally tend to enjoy milk tofu either as a
snack, dipped in sugar, 60 as an addition to their famous salty milk tea. Over time, it has
developed, with modern methods 61 (create) various diversities of fancy shapes and designs.
Whether served in a tent or on the grass, it offers a feast for the taste buds 62 every bite.
Mongolians also use dairy to create a variety of butters and creams. Su You (酥油 ), or
Mongolian butter, comes in two forms: yellow and white. One of the most defining features of
Mongolian cuisine, however, is 63 (definite) their version of Milk Tea. Has it ever 64
(occur) to you that Mongolian milk tea is salty, made with brick tea and seasoned with salt?
While the taste might be surprising to outsiders, Mongolians consider sweetened milk tea a
departure from 65 is normal, preferring the rich, comforting taste of their traditional recipe.

第二节 读后续写 (满分 25 分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Last summer, I met Leo, a boy who had just moved to our district with his family. One day
I saw Leo arguing with the librarian about a sci-fi novel. His voice boomed across the quiet
library: "But the robot clearly had feelings! The ending makes no sense!" I hid my laugh behind
a selected collection of poems. Later, when we bumped into each other at a music store in the
downtown area—both reaching for the last Nirvana CD—he grinned and said, "You pick. I’ll
just borrow it from you."
That was the start of our friendship as we discovered shared passions for rock music,
comics and movies. We spent the entire summer vacation exploring second-hand record stores,
watching classic film series, and even forming a band with some old guitars we found in my
garage. Leo was always the life of the moment, his loud voice filling the air as he belted out
words of songs or mimicked(模仿) movie dialogues.
Leo wasn’t like anyone I knew. His clothes were always mismatched, and he laughed like
a wolf watching a comedy show. We read comic books, spent hours debating the plots, and sang
off-key to 90s rock in his garage. But when the school bell rang for the new semester,
everything changed.
Leo's energetic personality was not in harmony with the more reserved atmosphere of our
high school. At school, his loudness stood out sharply. In the classroom, his enthusiastic
answers often interrupted the teacher; in the cafeteria, his hearty laughter echoed through the
dining hall. One day, a group of popular students pointed and whispered as Leo dramatically
performed a scene from Die Hard. I felt my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
Gradually, I began making excuses to avoid him, choosing to sit with other classmates
instead. Leo's eyes, once bright with excitement, now clouded with confusion and mental harm.
I knew I had to make a decision, but the weight of peer(同伴 ) pressure made it incredibly
difficult.

Dear Diary,
This afternoon, our school arranged for all tenth-graders to the city Science& Technology
Museum to visit the China’s Aviation Achievements Exhibition.
We first observed various aircraft models, explored informative boards, and watched a series of
documentaries showcasing China’s aerospace milestones. The advanced rocket launch and astronaut
training left me super amazed. The highlight came when we tried the zero-gravity spacewalk
simulation—floating out of Tiangong Space Station in space. How thrilling and surreal it was!
This visit deepened my pride in scientists’ contributions and China’s technological progress,
inspiring me to pursue my dreams with the equal passion and push forward the frontiers of space
exploration.
That night, I lay in bed, caught in a dilemma. The memory of Leo’s excited face clashed
painfully with those negative comments. After an inner struggle, I knew I should follow my heart.
The next day, I saw Leo sitting alone on a bench. Taking a deep breath, I walked over. "Hey, Leon.
I’m sorry." I admitted, "I’ve been a coward. You’re the most amazing friend I’ve ever had, and I
don’t care what anyone else says any more." Leo’s eyes shining, he let out his signature laugh. It
suddenly hit us that we should do something for fellow students.
We decided to start a music club at school. Our music club posters appeared the next week.
Leo organized the selection of new members, his laughter echoing through the gym as students
nervously performed. To our surprise, dozens joined—even quiet classmates hummed rock songs
shyly. At the first concert, Leo jumped onto the stage wearing his dinosaur socks and a neon jacket.
"This song is for the robots with feelings!" he shouted. The crowd roared. Watching him play the
guitar wildly, I understood: loudness is not a flaw but a charm; real harmony isn’t about being quiet,
but letting every unique note shine.
