From July 15, tourists who pick up litter, use public transport or bicycle around the city will be given special treats as part of efforts to offset (抵消) their impact on the environment. The CopenPay plan, designed to relieve the environmental “burden” of tourists flying to Copenhagen, is described as a “little step towards the green transition”. The plan will be trust-based, as the businesses taking part won’t ask for proof before handing over a free coffee or a meal for the tourists’ self-reported efforts. “When you travel abroad - if you fly to other places or you travel by car - you pollute,” said Rikke Holm Petersen, head of the Copenhagen tourism board. “One of the things we can change is getting people to act more sustainably at the destination.” More than 20 restaurants, cafes, boat trip organisers and other businesses have signed up for the plan and voluntarily provide special treats. The tourism board expects tourists from home and abroad, who make about 12 million overnight stays per year in the Danish capital, to take part in the activity. Green tasks and their rewards in Copenhagen ◆ Organic meal if you pick litter in BaneGaarden ◆ Boat rental if you help fish rubbish out of the water ◆ Swim and coffee if you bike to the Kanalhuset canal ◆ Ice cream if you go to the National Museum by bike ◆ Vegetarian lunch if you volunteer in the urban garden ◆ Wine, beer or soft drink at Level Six rooftop bar if you arrive by bike or public transport 1. What is the purpose of the CopenPay plan? A. To protect the environment. B. To promote business. C. To control urban traffic. D. To attract more tourists. 2 How can tourists get special treats? A. By signing up for a competition. B. By telling their finished green tasks. C. By showing their flight tickets. D. By providing a written report. 3. What reward can you get if you bike to the National Museum? A. A bunch of flowers. B. A cup of coffee. C. Ice cream. D. The chance to volunteer. B Walking along the Tidal Basin in Washington DC right now, you’ll see an almost funny scene about a minute’s walk west of the Jefferson Memorial: fans fighting to view a little cherry tree, Stumpy. Admirers have left cards, roses and bottles of wine at its base. One of the enthusiasts even threatened to chain himself to the trunk to save the tree when the sad news came out: Stumpy will be among the roughly 150 trees to be removed from the Tidal Basin as part of a three-year project to repair the site’s sinking seawalls. Stumpy is about 25 years old. It didn’t quite enter the public’s imagination until 2020, when a tourist posted a picture and compared Stumpy’s survival in the challenging environment to its love of life. “There’s almost no way that the tree should still be alive. The trunk is entirely hollowed out and it has just three branches,” the post read. “Yet, it puts out these beautiful flowers.” After that post, people began to notice Stumpy more. Then, in 2023, people were literally lining up to get pictures taken. “However, the fever has risen to a completely new level this year,” says Kevin Ambrose who photographed the tree long before it got its name and later wrote an article for the Washington Post titled Stumpy Steals the Hearts of Thousands at the Tidal Basin. “It’s sad to see it leave. But nature has the circle of life. Trees grow and die.” “We have considered replanting it somewhere that doesn’t flood,” says National Park Service (NPS) spokesman Mike Litterst. “But we would probably do far more damage to it if we tried to move it than if we just allow it to remain in place due to its extremely weakened condition.” But people can be relieved to hear a sliver of good news: To preserve Stumpy’s memory, NPS will take cuttings from Stumpy to produce genetically (基因) identical trees that will be planted around the Tidal Basin once the seawall is restored. 4. Why do most people gather around Stumpy this year? A. To visit a nearby museum. B. To say goodbye to a beloved tree. C. To stop the cutting of the forest. D. To draw attention to the seawalls. 5. What did the 2020 post stress about Stumpy? A. Its love of life. B. Its healthy branches. C. Its strong trunk. D. Its hard living condition. 6. What is Kevin Ambrose’s attitude to the removal of Stumpy? A. Unclear. B. Disapproving. C. Unconcerned. D. Understandable. 7. How will National Park Service deal with Stumpy? A. By replanting it somewhere. B. By replacing it with a different tree. C. By preserving its DNA and reproducing it. D. By providing proper medical treatment to it. C Are you a fan of spending your lunch breaks in a park? Or do you walk your dog in a park each morning and evening? Well, if you do, we have good news for you: Studies have confirmed that spending just 20 minutes in a park every day will make you happier and less stressed—regardless of whether or not you’re exercising while you’re there. A recent study from University of Michigan suggests that spending at least 20 minutes wandering or sitting in a place where you’re in contact with nature significantly lowers stress levels. “Our study shows that for the greatest payoff, in terms of efficiently lowering levels of stress, you should spend 20 to 30 minutes sitting or walking in a place that provides you with a sense of nature,” says lead researcher Mary Carol Hunter. “You don’t have to travel to the wildlands. Getting out of an office block and sitting next to a tree can be enough.” Meanwhile, another study by King’s College London researchers finds that being outdoors, seeing trees, hearing birdsong, looking at the sky, and feeling in contact with nature are associated with higher levels of mental well-being. In some cases, these beneficial effects impact people positively for up to seven hours afterwards. The latest research published today by Aarhus University, Denmark, suggests that children who grow up with greener surroundings have up to 55% less risk of developing various mental disorders later in life. The results are perhaps unsurprising. Multiple studies have previously highlighted the benefits of nature on a person’s mental health and emphasized the need for designing greener cities for the future and protecting our existing parks. However, the challenge facing cities is that planners and developers are eager to replace green space with residential and commercial buildings. 8. What will Mary Carol Hunter most probably advise us to do to reduce stress? A. Put some flowers in the office. B. Spend 25 minutes in nature each day. C. Go to wildlands once a week. D Do exercise each morning at home. 9. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The challenge facing cities. B. The healing effects of trees. C. Nature’s impact on efficiency. D. The lasting influence of green space. 10. What message does the author seem to convey in the last paragraph? A. The conclusion of the studies is not reliable. B. The studies have ground-breaking significance. C. The urban planning is going in a wrong direction. D. Cities will become greener and healthier in the future. 11. How is the text mainly developed? A. By listing examples. B. By analyzing data. C. By conducting surveys. D. By making comparisons. D About halfway through the new ad for “the thinnest iPad ever”, almost every creative instrument artists and consumers have used over the years — from record players to books and cameras — is flattened by a powerful hydraulic press (液压机). But for me, the ugliest thing about the ad is the destruction of the musical instruments: a piano, a guitar, a drum and a trumpet. Perhaps, the ad is meant to communicate that this tiny, thin iPad can replace them all. You can make your music with it. You can paint with it. You can play games on it. You can take your photos with it. So you can finally destroy all those things that have been so burdensome, like the massive piano and messy paint. But these are not practical items. Nobody owns a piano because it’s practical. Actually, it’s one of the least practical things you can own. It is so heavy that it can damage your floor. If you happen to get a new place, you don’t just need movers for it. You need special movers. You own a piano because your beloved ones sit down and play it. Such shared moments will not and can not be replaced by iPads. You can make beautiful music and digital art with an iPad. But that art should be made alongside other music, other art, not at the cost of pianos and paint. If you think of digital artistic creation as an opportunity to shatter sculptures or bottles of paint, you never understood art at all, and you never will. It doesn’t demand to destroy what is loved in order to run after the fantasy that you can fit everything that matters into your pocket. In certain circumstances, I am worried. For example, I am worried about the costs of art and its creation. But I am not worried at all that art made by humans will ever be replaced by “the thinnest iPad ever”. 12. What does the new iPad ad intend to tell its viewers? A. It can do a lot of things. B. It will not be easily damaged. C. Artists can store their information in it. D. Customers should throw away their ugly stuff. 13. What does the underlined word “shatter” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Create. B. Purchase. C. Break. D. Exchange. 14. What is the best title for the text? A. The New iPad Will Put Art in Danger B. Art Won’t Be Flattened by the New iPad C. The Costs of Art and Its Creation Are Rocketing D. The New iPad Ad Is Depressing but Successful 15. What is the text? A. An advertisement. B. An iPad description. C. A music review. D. An opinion piece. Whether it’s fitting in enough seating or figuring out a way to decorate the walls, balancing functionality and design in a small living room can be a challenge. Her parents were always busy at work, even in the evenings. She had to do most of the housework by herself, including taking care of their garden. However, she knew little about gardening, so their garden never seemed attractive. One quiet evening, Sarah was left at home alone again. She was sitting by the window, doing her homework. As she looked outside, she noticed a man standing under the streetlamp across the road. He was tall, wearing a dark coat, and seemed to be looking directly at her house. Sarah’s heart skipped a beat. For days, Sarah had seen the man walk around the neighborhood. He never spoke to anyone, and he always seemed to be alone. She had mentioned him to her parents, who said he was new to this town and was a gardener. However, Sarah couldn’t shake the feeling of fear. That evening, as the man lingered (逗留) under the streetlamp, Sarah decided to call Mrs. Baker, who lived just a few houses away. Mrs. Baker was a kind elderly woman who had always been like a grandmother to Sarah. “Mrs. Baker, there’s a man outside, and he’s been standing there for a while. I’m scared,” Sarah whispered into the phone. Mrs. Baker tried to calm Sarah down and said, “Don’t worry, dear. I’ll come over soon.” A few minutes later, Mrs. Baker arrived at Sarah’s door. Together, they went to the window and peered (仔细瞧) out. The man was still there, but he was holding something in his hands. Sarah’s fear grew. “What if he’s dangerous?” Sarah asked. Mrs. Baker patted Sarah’s shoulder and said, “Let’s not jump to a conclusion so quickly.” Just then, the man began walking toward Sarah’s house. Sarah’s heart pounded as he approached the front door. But instead of knocking, he bent down and placed something on the porch (门廊). Then, he turned around and walked away. Sarah and Mrs. Baker opened the door and found a package with a note. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day, Sarah decided to find the man and thank him for his seeds. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 英语 注意事项: 1. 1. It didn’t quite enter the public’s imagination until 2020 when a tourist posted a picture and compared Stumpy’s survival in the challenging environment to its love of life. B 5. A 6. D 7. 根据第一段“Admirers have left cards, roses and bottles of wine at its base. One of the enthusiasts even threatened to chain himself to the trunk to save the tree when the sad news came out: Stumpy will be among the roughly 150 trees to be removed from the Tidal Basin as part of a three-year project to repair the site’s sinking seawalls.(仰慕者们在树根处留下了卡片、玫瑰和葡萄酒瓶。当噩耗传来时,一位狂热粉丝甚至扬言要将自己锁在树干上以保护这棵树——原来,Stumpy是潮汐湖约150棵将被移除的树木之一,这是为修复该区域下沉海堤而开展的为期三年的工程的一部分。)”可推断,这些人是来向Stumpy道别的。故选B。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“It didn’t quite enter the public’s imagination until 2020, when a tourist posted a picture and compared Stumpy’s survival in the challenging environment to its love of life.(直到2020年,当一位游客发布了一张照片,将Stumpy在充满挑战的环境中的生存与其对生活的热爱进行比较时,它才完全进入了公众的想象。)” 故选A。 根据第三段“But nature has the circle of life. Trees grow and die.(但自然有它的生命轮回。树木会生长,也会凋零。)”可推断,尽管有些不舍,Kevin Ambrose还是对砍倒Stumpy表示理解。故选D。 【7题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“To preserve Stumpy’s memory, NPS will take cuttings from Stumpy to produce genetically (基因) identical trees that will be planted around the Tidal Basinonce the seawall is restored.(为保留Stumpy的记忆,国家公园管理局将从它身上采集枝条,培育出基因完全相同的樱花树,待海堤修复完成后,这些新树将被种植在潮汐湖周边。)” C。 C Are you a fan of spending your lunch breaks in a park? The latest research, published today by Aarhus University, Denmark, suggests that children who grow up with greener surroundings have up to 55% less risk of developing various mental disorders later in life. B Spend 25 minutes in nature each day. B 9. D 10. C 11. 根据第二段“Our study shows that for the greatest payoff, in terms of efficiently lowering levels of stress, you should spend 20 to 30 minutes sitting or walking in a place that provides you with a sense of nature(我们的研究表明,要想获得最大的回报,就有效地降低压力水平而言,你应该花20到30分钟坐在或走在一个能让你感受到大自然的地方)”和“You don’t have to travel to the wildlands. Getting out of an office block and sitting next to a tree can be enough.(你不需要去荒野。走出办公大楼,坐在一棵树旁就足够了。)”可知,Mary Carol Hunter最有可能建议我们每天花25分钟在大自然中来减轻压力。故选B。 【9题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第四段“The latest research, published today by Aarhus University, Denmark, suggests that children who grow up with greener surroundings have up to 55% less risk of developing various mental disorders later in life.(丹麦奥胡斯大学今天发表的最新研究表明,在更环保的环境中长大的儿童在以后的生活中患各种精神障碍的风险降低了55%。)” 根据最后一段“However, the challenge facing cities is that planners and developers are eager to replace green space with residential and commercial buildings.(然而,城市面临的挑战是,规划者和开发商急于用住宅和商业建筑取代绿色空间。)” 通读全文,尤其是第一段“Studies have confirmed that spending just 20 minutes in a park every day will make you happier and less stressed—regardless of whether or not you’re exercising while you’re there.(研究已经证实,每天在公园里呆20分钟会让你更快乐,压力更小——不管你在那里是否锻炼。)” A。 D About halfway through the new ad for “the thinnest iPad ever”, almost every creative instrument artists and consumers have used over the years — from record players to books and cameras — is flattened by a powerful hydraulic press (液压机). A 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第二段“Perhaps, the ad is meant to communicate that this tiny, thin iPad can replace them all. You can make your music with it. You can paint with it. You can play games on it. You can take your photos with it.(或许,这则广告意在传达这样一种信息:这款又小又薄的iPad可以取代它们。你可以用它来创作音乐。你可以用它来画画。你可以在上面玩游戏。你可以用它拍照。)”可知,新的iPad广告想告诉观众它可以做很多事情。故选A。 根据画线词前“But that art should be made alongside other music, other art, not at the cost of pianos and paint.(但这种艺术应该与其他音乐、其他艺术一起创作,而不是以牺牲钢琴和颜料为代价。)”及画线词后“It doesn’t demand to destroy what is loved in order to run after the fantasy that you can fit everything that matters into your pocket.(它不要求为了追求你可以把所有重要的东西装进口袋的幻想而摧毁你所爱的东西。)” 通读全文,特别是最后一段“But I am not worried at all that art made by humans will ever be replaced by “the thinnest iPad ever”.(但我一点也不担心人类创作的艺术品会被“有史以来最薄的iPad”所取代。)” 他认为新款iPad不可能会取代传统的艺术创造工具,因此最好的标题是B选项“Art Won’t Be Flattened by the New iPad(新款iPad压不垮艺术)”。 通读全文,尤其是第一段“But for me, the ugliest thing about the ad is the destruction of the musical instruments: a piano, a guitar, a drum and a trumpet.(但对我而言,这则广告中最令人反感之处在于对乐器的破坏:一架钢琴、一把吉他、一面鼓和一支小号。)” Whether it’s fitting in enough seating or figuring out a way to decorate the walls, balancing functionality and design in a small living room can be a challenge. So, how do you transform a small space into a comfortable and inviting one? ___16___. ●Consider installing (安装) built-ins. Custom built-ins can change how you use space in a smaller living room. “___17___,” says Rachel Humphreys of Humphrey Orr Interiors. “The top of the built-in should align with (与……对齐) the function leads the eye upward and make the room feel grander.” ●___18___. While you might want a sofa, side table, coffee table and two accent chairs, you may need to give up some of your choices if you don’t havea large space. “A smaller room might only need a large sofa or sectional, a coffee table and a chair,” says Humphreys. ●Add a mirror or use special paint. “___19___,” shares Humphreys. “Adding a large decorative mirror to a wall can make the room feel larger.” If you’re not into decorating with mirrors, the designer suggests using highly reflective paint instead. This can have a similar effect, bouncing the light across the room and making the space feel more expansive. ●Hang the curtains extra high. According to Humphreys, one of the best tricks is to install curtains much higher than the top of the window to draw the eye upward. A golden rule is to hang the rods (长杆) about two-tirds up from the distance between the top of the window to the ceiling. ___20___. Be sure to measure more than once, so you don’t accidentally order the wrong size. A. Buy less furniture B. Put your furniture in order C. A brighter living room generally looks larger D. Reflective surfaces always help enlarge a space E. This will make the ceilings feel higher and the space larger F. A few strategic design changes can visually expand your living room G. Built-ins, such as bookcases, can add another dimension to the space and provide storage 【答案】16. F 17. G 18. A 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 上文“So, how do you transform a small space into a comfortable and inviting one?(那么,如何将一个小空间变成一个舒适宜人的空间呢?)” 【17题详解】 上文“Custom built-ins can change how you use space in a smaller living room.(定制的内置家具可以改变你在小客厅里使用空间的方式)”说明内置家具可以改变空间的使用方式。 “add another dimension”和“provide storage”对应前文“change how you use space”。故选G。 【18题详解】 下文“While you might want a sofa, side table, coffee table and two accent chairs, you may need to give up some of your choices if you don’t have a large space.(虽然你可能想要一个沙发、边桌、咖啡桌和两把装饰椅,但如果你没有足够的空间,你可能需要放弃一些选择)”说明需要减少家具数量。A项“少买家具”作为段落标题,与后文“give up some of your choices”以及“only need a large sofa or sectional”形成对应,突出“功能与空间平衡”的核心。故选A。 【19题详解】 下文“Adding a large decorative mirror to a wall can make the room feel larger.(在墙上加一面大的装饰镜可以让房间看起来更大)”说明镜子可以扩大空间感。 “enlarge a space”对应后文“make the room feel larger”,且与“highly reflective paint”形成关键词复现。故选 D。 【20题详解】 上文“According to Humphreys, one of the best tricks is to install curtains much higher than the top of the window to draw the eye upward. A golden rule is to hang the rods (长杆) about two-thirds up from the distance between the top of the window to the ceiling.(根据汉弗莱斯的说法,最好的技巧之一是把窗帘安装得比窗户顶部高很多,以吸引眼球向上看。一个黄金法则是将窗帘杆安装在距离窗户顶部到天花板距离的三分之二处)”说明安装窗帘杆的具体位置。空处和前文为顺接关系,说明这样安装窗帘杆的效果。所以E项“这会让天花板感觉更高,空间更大”符合语境。this指代前文挂窗帘的做法,“ceilings feel higher”与“draw the eye upward”呼应,“space larger”总结视觉扩张效果,与后文“measure more than once”形成逻辑延续。 Photographer Arturo Rodriguez was taking a shower at his home when he heard a(n) ___21___ voice come from the TV in the next room, “It just ___22___ ! (运用了不定式作表语) [高分句型2] Ranging from rock, heavy metal to classic, the concert will provide something for everyone to enjoy. (运用了现在分词作状语) 第二节(满分25分) 47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Sarah, a high school student in the small town of Greenfield, was always alone at home. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Sarah and Mrs. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Sarah and Mrs. Baker opened the door and found a package with a note. Sarah picked it up and read the note aloud, “To the family who lives here — I notice your garden has been struggling lately. I am a gardener, and I think these seeds might help. Best wishes, a newcomer in the neighborhood.” Sarah felt a wave of guilt wash over her. She had misjudged the man completely. He wasn’t a threat; he was just a kind new neighbor trying to help. Mrs. Baker smiled, “See? Sometimes people surprise us in the best ways.” The next day, Sarah decided to find the man and thank him for his seeds. She walked around the neighborhood until she spotted him working in a garden. She approached him nervously and smiled, “Thank you so much. I’m sorry if I seemed unfriendly. I didn’t know you were trying to help.” The man responded in a low voice, “It’s alright. I’ve been trying to find ways to get to know my neighbors.” When Sarah asked her new neighbor if she could learn some gardening techniques from him, the man looked surprised but soon nodded with a smile. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①注意到:notice/spot ②靠近:approach/draw near ③回答:respond/reply 情绪类 ①紧张地:nervously/tensely ②惊讶:surprised/amazed 【点睛】【高分句型1】She walked around the neighborhood until she spotted him working in a garden.(使用了until引导时间状语从句、现在分词作宾补) 高分句型2】When Sarah asked her new neighbor if she could learn some gardening techniques from him, the man looked surprised but soon nodded with a smile.
