I. Teaching Objectives
Knowledge Objectives
Students will understand the story “Two friends and the bean” and be able to answer comprehension questions.
Master the listening content about making friends and be able to identify the mentioned advice.

Improve reading and listening skills through comprehension tasks.
Enhance speaking skills by discussing the story and making - friends advice.

Encourage students to actively make friends and maintain good friendships.

III. Teaching Procedures
1. Lead - in (5 minutes)
Activity: Show pictures of friends hanging out. Ask: “What do you think of friendship? Who is your best friend and why?”
Purpose: Arouse students’ interest in the topic of friendship.
2. Reading (12 minutes)
Story Reading: Students read “Two friends and the bean” silently. Then answer questions 1 and 2.
Discussion: In pairs, discuss the answers. Share ideas with the class, focusing on the moral of the story (true friends don’t leave in danger).
Purpose: Improve reading comprehension and understand the value of true friendship.
3. Listening (15 minutes)
Pre - listening: Present the making - friends advice options (Join a club, Be brave etc.). Predict which ones might be mentioned.
Listening: Play the audio of Daniel, Simon and Millie talking. Students tick the mentioned advice.
Post - listening: Check answers. Discuss the advice in groups: “Which advice do you think is most useful? Why?”
Purpose: Enhance listening skills and learn practical ways to make friends.
4. Practice & Speaking (8 minutes)
Role - play: Students role - play as Daniel, Simon and Millie, retelling the listening content about making friends.
Discussion: Ask: “How will you use these advice to make new friends?” Share in class.
Purpose: Improve speaking skills and apply the learned content.
5. Summary & Homework (5 minutes)
Summary: Recap the story’s moral and making - friends advice.
Homework:
Write a short passage (60 words) about your understanding of true friendship.
Prepare a short speech (30 seconds) about one making - friends advice you’ll try.
