One possible version:
Pollution is our great enemy. In some places, pollution from factories spreads over cities and villages. Cars on the roads cause pollution as well. It makes people ill, and may even kill them.
As students, we can make our school a green school. We can collect waste which can be recycled or used again in our class. We can also save energy and recycle at home.
Though pollution is heavy now, I don’t think it’s hopeless. If everyone starts to do something, the world will be saved.

Have you heard of microplastics (微塑料)? Can we see them in our daily life? Are they good or bad for human beings?
Microplastics are very small. According to National Geographic, microplastics are usually less than five millimeters (毫米) in size. But they bring big problems. This small size lets them go everywhere, even in water and air. They don’t break down easily and can stay in the environment for hundreds of years. A new study said that by 2040, microplastic pollution could be twice as bad as it is now.
Microplastics are very small pieces of plastic. They come from many places. For example, about 60 percent of material made into clothes is plastic. Every time when the clothes are washed, they shed microplastics. When water bottles and other big plastic products are left outside, they break down slowly into microplastics. These microplastics can be bad for our health and even cause cancer. In August, the Conversation reported that scientists found microplastics in people’s brains for the first time. They may hurt brain cells (细胞) and change how the brain works.
Wild animals are also at risk from microplastic pollution. Each year, up to three million tons of microplastics end up in the ocean. Since they are too small to be seen, fish may eat them by mistake and become very sick.
To deal with the problem, scientists think the best way right now is to make and use less plastic. As students, we can reduce plastic things in our daily life, such as using glass or metal cups instead of plastic bottles and cups.

“Reduce, reuse, recycle,” these are the three Rs that environmental activists have stressed. But how can we realize them? Recently, this idea came to life in China in a clever way in a famous scenic spot (风景区) in Dunhuang, Northwest China’s Gansu Province.
With the arrival of the tourist season, the scenic spot has been crowded with visitors around 20,000 a day since July. With so many people, the challenge of managing waste has become more serious, putting cleaners under pressure. So, the scenic spot came up with a fun way to help: “Trash hunt for gifts.” Here’s how it works: Visitors are given trash bags and encouraged to pick up litter around the site (地点). In return, they get small gifts showing Dunhuang’s rich culture.
Isn’t this another good form of the three Rs spirit? I still remember going to some scenic spots, especially historical sites where people gather in a small area. At these places littering is something we always have to try hard to deal with. Not only does it influence the cleanliness of a site, but it is also likely to harm the natural environment. So, when I saw how the “Trash hunt for gifts” program was carried out, it was clear this way was more than just a trick to attract attention. It was truly an effort to encourage a culture of responsibility and care. The activity does more than just cleaning up the area. It turns every visitor into an environmental guard, actively taking part in protecting the beauty of the site.
★ Other places in China are also doing similar things. It’s great to see that tourists are not just enjoying the sights, but also helping to protect them. Turning tourists into environmental guards is a new and exciting way to keep our scenic spots clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. It’s a reminder that while we enjoy the beauty around us, we also have the power to protect it.

33.From the passage, we can know that “Trash hunt for gifts” program ________.
A.was started by visitors in Dunhuang B.was aimed at drawing public attention
C.forced visitors to clean up the spots D.helped to make it easier for cleaners
34.Which of the following can be put in ★ ?
A.The idea is spreading B.People love the gifts
C.Dunhuang becomes more attractive D.Visitors become more active
35.What’s the purpose of the passage?
A.To explain what the three Rs are. B.To show how to face challenges during the trip.
C.To introduce a new way of travelling. D.To encourage people to be guardians of nature.

Markela comes from a long line of beekeepers in a town on the east coast of Greece. Since she was young, she has helped her grandfather Markos with beekeeping—checking the beehives (蜂房), finding the queen bees and collecting the honey. However, 11-year-old Markela who would make the fifth generation of beekeepers, might not be able to continue the family business.
36 But with climate change, the health of the bees and the amount of honey they can produce have also changed. “I see that the beehives are weaker, as well as their population, because the trees and flowers are getting burned,” Markela said.
Wildfires have burned the plants the bees depend on, and where there haven’t been wildfires, there has been drought. “ 37 The whole place has dried up and there are no flowers. Without flowers, there is no pollen (花粉) and no honey,” Markos, 70, said.
Bees are not just important for making honey. 38 For Markela and Markos, the falling bee populations have sounded the alarm for the climate crisis (气候危机).
But the lack of bees is not the only change Markela has seen. “Almost every day I see in the news that children have to leave their homes due to wildfires. 39 I also worry that a fire will come here,” she said. Though wildfires are common in Greece, they have become stronger and more often due to climate change. Children like Markela are expected to experience three times more climate-related problems than their grandparents. 40
A.The drought has a big influence on bees.
B.They are also a sign of a healthy ecosystem.
C.I am afraid because we have a lot of trees here.
D.The family has made a living by producing honey for over a century.
E.And a billion children worldwide are reported to be facing climate change effects.

三、阅读理解。(本大题共15小题,每小题2分,共30分)
A
Have you heard of microplastics (微塑料)?

31.In which picture can we see “Trash hunt for gifts”?
A. B.
C. D.
32.How do visitors take part in “Trash hunt for gifts”?
A.By buying trash bags. B.By picking up trash.
C.By giving out gifts. D.By spreading Dunhuang culture.
C

B.They are also a sign of a healthy ecosystem.
