It was a Friday afternoon, and our biology class started. We were learning about the human body. Our teacher, Mrs. Adams, was explaining the structure of the human heart. Suddenly, Bill raised his hand. “I have a question. The adult’s heart is much bigger than the hand closed tightly (紧紧地), right?” Bill asked, his voice shaking a bit.
“Bill, you’re wrong! The heart is about the size of the fist (拳头)!” Someone said from the back of the class. Some students started to laugh loudly. Bill looked embarrassed and put his hand down, feeling uncomfortable.
Mrs. Adams noticed this and spoke up. “Class, that is not how we should act here,” she said in a serious voice. “Bill made a mistake, and that’s perfectly OK. Many scientists achieved success because they found things unexpectedly while doing experiments. Mistakes can also lead to great discoveries. We all make mistakes, and it’s part of learning.” She turned to Bill and smiled kindly. “Bill, if an adult’s heart is much larger than his or her fist, he or she may be ill. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for asking questions or getting something wrong. That’s how we improve ourselves and learn.”
The class became quiet, and the students who had laughed at Bill realized they were wrong and felt sorry. I could see them looking at Bill with regret, and I felt the same.

Time capsules (胶囊) are small, safe collections of objects or information. They’re like time-traveling boxes, allowing future people to understand past lives. They usually include newspaper articles, music recordings, and photos, offering historians great help in studying past societies.
Take the Detroit Century Box as an example. On Dec 31, 1900, Detroit put some photos and letters into a box, which was set to open on Dec 31, 2000. When opened, it showed a clear picture of Detroit in 1900. There were pictures of people and local places, and some letters even included future predictions (预测). One person predicted Detroit’s population would reach 4 million by 2000, but in fact, it was only about 951,000 that year according to historydetroit.com.
Humans have also sent time capsules into space. In 1977, the US sent the Voyager Golden Records on the Voyager spaceship. Filled with sounds and pictures, they stand for the diversity (多样性) of human life and culture, including Beethoven’s music and views of nature. It’s hoped that aliens (外星人) might discover them and learn about us someday.
66.What can be found in time capsules?
A.Small, safe collections of travelling.
B.Newspaper articles, recording and photos.
C.Boxes of treasures from the past societies.
D.Messages and objects from aliens.
67.Why were the Voyager Golden Records sent into space?
A.To explore the solar system. B.To show off American technology.
C.To let aliens learn about human life. D.To find new planets in the outer space.
68.What can we learn from the wrong prediction about Detroit’s population?
A.People in the past were bad at math. B.The future is difficult to predict exactly.
C.Detroit’s population will never grow. D.The time capsule wasn’t successful.
【答案】66.B 67.C 68.B
