My Invention
Today I’m excited to show my invention to you. It looks like a house, so I call it “a flying house”.
The flying house has two large wings and can fly fast. It isn’t as big as a normal house. If there is too much traffic, you can simply fly it like a plane. What’s more, it doesn’t cause pollution, so it is good for the environment. It also saves a lot of space. With a house like this, you can travel anywhere you want and needn’t worry about traffic jams anymore.
I believe my invention will benefit society and improve people’s lives.

On January 20, 2025, A Chinese technology (科技) company named DeepSeek created a new AI called DeepSeek-R1. This smart AI can solve math problems, write code (代码), and answer questions like top AI models such as OpenAI’s GPT-40, but it cost much less money to build. The team spent only $5.58 million (1/70 of OpenAI’s cost) and used 2,048 computer chips (芯片) for two months to build it. This shows that good ideas can beat big money.
How It Learns
DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, just like students practicing math problems. Other AIs need lots of prepared examples, but R1 improves by itself. This special learning way helped it get 79.8% right in an international math test, even better than OpenAI’s model! A simpler version (版本) of R1 can even work on low-cost computers, helping schools and small companies.
Free for Everyone
DeepSeek-R1 is free to use and change. On its first day online, over 19,000 programmers from different countries started using it. A German scientist said experiments with R1 only cost $10 instead of $300 with other AIs. Even scientists from big companies like Meta said “This kind of free AI could change the world.”
Big Reactions (反应)
The success of DeepSeek-R1 has made some U.S tech companies worried. Meta plans to spend $65 billion more on AI research. Technology experts say China is improving very fast in AI development. A report in Nature magazine called R1 a “big step forward.” showing that smart ideas beat expensive tools.
As a DeepSeek engineer said, “We want AI to be a friend, not something only rich people can use.” With DeepSeek-R1, China has shown that great things come from creative ideas and hard work, not just from spending lots of money.
31.What is the passage mainly talking about?
A.A new AI model can solve math problems.
B.How computer chips work.
C.The difference between Chinese AI and American’s.
D.Chinese AI Model DeepSeek-R1 stuns (震惊) the World.
32.What does “good ideas can beat big money” mean in Paragraph1?
A.Big money is the main thing for success, and good ideas are less important.
B.Good ideas can be more useful than having a lot of money.
C.Good ideas can only work when used with a lot of money.
D.Good ideas and big money are both important.
33.What can we learn from the passage?
A.DeepSeek-R1 can only solve math problems and answer questions.
B.DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, not like how students practice maths.
C.Compared with other AIs which need lots of prepared examples, R1 improves by itself.
D.On R1’s third day online, over 19,000 programmers worldwide started projects to study it.
34.How much do the German scientist’s experiments with R1 cost?
A.$300 B.$5.58 C.$10 D.$65
35.Why is DeepSeek-R1 called a “big step forward”?
A.It proves (证明) that smart ideas beat expensive tools.
B.It uses the most expensive tools.
C.It made U.S. tech companies worried.
D.It can only help rich people.
