II. 3a Activity – Whale Information Categorization (12 mins)
Instruction
Show 3a chart (What do they look like? Where do they live? etc.) and whale phrases. Tell students: “Categorize each phrase into the correct section. Use the article ideas (even if not from a text, use logic).”
Example: “Live in the sea” → Where do they live?
Student Activity
Students categorize:
What do they look like?: Huge, Some kinds have teeth
Where do they live?: Live in the sea
What do they eat?: Eat small fish and other sea life
What can they do?: Jump high out of the water, Sing songs
Why do some need protection?: Humans catch whales for meat/oil; Whale parts sold; Water pollution
How can we protect them?: Rules on protection; Stop putting rubbish; Learn more
Pair - check. Walk around to guide: “‘Rules on whale protection’ – how we can protect them.”
III. 3b Activity – Whale Protection Paragraph (15 mins)
Instruction
Explain 3b: “Use 3a info to write a paragraph about whales. Include: what they are, where they live, what they do, why they’re endangered, how to protect them.”
Example: “Whales are huge sea animals. They live in the sea and eat small fish... They’re endangered because humans catch them... We should stop polluting the sea.”
Student Activity
Students write paragraphs. Walk around to help: “Add an interesting fact – ‘Some whales sing songs!’ to make it engaging.”
Share paragraphs: “Whales are amazing but endangered. Let’s protect their homes and stop hunting.”

Summary
