Psychologists are quickly learning how dangerous smart phones can be for teenage brains.
But the writing about smart phone risk may have been on the wall for roughly a decade,
according to educators Joe Clement and Matt Miles,co-authors of the recent book Screen
Schooled.
It should be telling,Clement and Miles argue, that the two biggest tech figures in recent
history-Bill Gates and Steve Jobs-seldom let their kids play with the very products they
helped create.
"What is it these wealthy tech giants know about their own products that their consumers
don't?"the authors wrote.The answer,according to a growing body of evidence,is the
addictive power of digital technology.
In 2007,Gates,the former CEO of Microsoft, set a limit on screen time when his
daughter started developing an unhealthy attachment (to a video game.He also didn't
let his kids get cell phones until they turned 14.(Today,the average age for a child getting
their first phone is 10.
Jobs, who was the CEO of Apple until his death in 2012,revealed in a 2011 The New
York Times interview that he prohibited his kids from using the newly-released iPad."We
limit how much technology our kids use at home,"Jobs told reporter Nick Bilton.
In a recent interview on the online news channel Cheddar,iPod co-creator Tony Fadell
believed that if Steve Jobs were alive today,he'd want to address growing societal concerns
about tech addiction."He'd say,'Hey,we need to do something about it,'"Fadell said.
In Screen Schooled,Clement and Miles make the case that wealthy Silicon Valley parents
seem to grasp the addictive powers of smart phones,tablets(),and computers more than
the general public does-despite the fact that these parents often make a living by creating and
investing in that technology.
A number of specialty Silicon Valley schools, such as the Waldorf School, are noticeably
low-tech.They use chalkboards and No.2 pencils.Instead of learning how to code, kids are
taught the soft skills of cooperation and respect.
1.Why did Bill Gates and Steve Jobs seldom let their children use tech products?
A.Digital technology was harmful.
B.Digital technology was addictive.
C.Their children lacked self-discipline.D.Their children showed no interest in them.
2.What's Tony Fadell's attitude towards tech addiction?
A.Worried.B.Doubtful.
C.Uninterested.
D.Understandable.
3.What do we learn about Silicon Valley parents?
A.They hate to use technology.
B.They know little about technology.
C.They limit their kids'use of technology.
D.They encourage their kids to use technology.
4.What's special about the Waldorf School?
A.It focuses on professional skills.
B.It allows no technology at school.
C.It makes the best use of technology.
D.It uses less technology than other schools.

When someone is rude to you,it can put you in a lousy mood.It may even lead you to be
rude to someone else, creating a chain of rudeness that can be difficult to break.
In fact, this troubling chain may even be triggered by simply seeing someone be rude to
another person. It can cause you to experience interactions through what researchers are
calling“rude-colored glasses'”.
The researchers worked with 81 students in the University of Florida's MBA program
who were asked to complete online surveys over a 10-day period.Participants recorded their
moods when they woke up;in the evening, they described their experiences over the course of
that day.
Each morning, the participants also viewed a short video in the morning. The video,
depicting()a workplace interaction of some kind, was supposed to be a critical thinking
task, but in fact was a way for the researchers to expose participants to various degrees of
rudeness.Half of the mornings, the video included some aspects of rudeness while the half
had some kind of exciting interaction in the workplace.Rudeness was conveyed through
various means, including a lack of eye contact or unpleasant language.
Participants who watched the rudeness videos reported seeing or experiencing rudeness
during the day,and they were also more likely to disengage()from fellow employees to
avoid being the victims of rudeness themselves. They reported that their overall work suffered
that day.
The findings also point to the importance of starting your day off right.Rudeness can
happen during the commute or even in a pre-work yoga class,so finding ways to minimize your
exposure to rudeness, whether it be changing up your commute or workout times, might go a
long way toward having a happy and productive work day.
1.What may make you rude?
A.Breaking a chain of rudeness.
B.Being treated in a very rude way.
C.Changing up the commute.
D.Experiencing interaction with others.
2.What can we know from Paragraph 4?
A.The participants were exposed to rudeness.
B.The critical thinking task was hard to finish.
C.It seemed that the participants led a happy life.
D.The participants were controlled by the researchers.
3.What may be the conclusion of the research?
A.It is wrong to avoid eye contact.B.Unpleasant language is harmful.
C.People are worried about their work.D.Rudeness affects people's mood clearly.
4.What does the author suggest doing to have a happy day?
A.Keeping away from other people.B.Attending a pre-work yoga class.
C.Trying to avoid exposure to rudeness.D.Working very hard in the work place.

Sen.Elizabeth Warren,D-Mass.,has promised to cancel up to $50,000 of debt for 95%
of student loan borrowers if she is elected president.Sen.Bernie Sanders,I-Vt.,has
proposed an even more generous plan if he's elected.
Both are brave, controversial proposals that would have a hard time making it through a
divided Congress. But on Tuesday,Warren announced she would use a little-known shortcut
and wouldn't need Congress. As president, she says, she could cancel the debts of tens of
millions of student borrowers all on her own.
It turns out that she's probably right.
"Our country's experiment with debt-financed education went terribly wrong,"Warren
wrote in a statement.
About 43 million student borrowers owe the U.S.government $1.5 trillion ()
according to the U.S.Department of Education. And until now,the department has only
offered student loan forgiveness or cancellation to borrowers who meet certain criteria.
"Maybe it's because they've been working in a public service position or because they
become disabled or because they're saying that their school fundamentally cheated them,"says
Eileen Connor, legal director of the Project on Predatory Student Lending at the Legal
Services Center of Harvard Law School.
"Those pathways exist. And I think what Sen.Warren's proposal is pointing out is that
there's also this freestanding power that the secretary of education has to cancel debts, not for
those reasons, but really for any reason at all."
Connor wrote an analysis that found Warren's proposal is both lawful and permissible.
But is it a good idea? That debate has been heated since last year, when Warren first
announced her plan.Adam Looney of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center says Warren's
plan would greatly benefit the wealthy, with the bottom 20%of borrowers by income reaping
just 4%of the savings. As such,Looney asks:"Why are those who went to college more
deserving of aid than those who didn't?"
1.What attitude would Congress take towards the two proposals?
A.Confused.
B.Opposed.
C.Supportive.
D.Ambiguous.
2.How much does a student borrower owe the U.S.government on average?
A.More than 10 thousand dollars.
B.More than 20 thousand dollars.
C.More than 30 thousand dollars.
D.More than 40 thousand dollars.
3.According to Eileen Connor, debts should be cancelled
A.for all student borrowers
B.for those who are disabled
C.for those working in a public service position
D.for those who have been cheated by their school
4.Why does Adam Looney say no to Warren's proposal?
A.It won't cover all students.
B.It will create new unfairness.
C.It won't help the poor students at all.D.It will do harm to American economy.

Teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. If the following reasons ring true, then
you are likely headed in the right direction.
1
Teaching is difficult. If you do not have an absolute passion for the young people that you
teach, you will burn out quickly. That passion is the driving force behind doing your job year
after year.If you do not have a total passion for your students, you might last a year or two,
but you will not make it to year twenty-five.2
You are skilled at instructing people in a variety of ways.
Students come from diverse backgrounds.3 You have to be willing and able to teach
the same concept through many different approaches.Being flexible and adaptable are two key
characteristics of a good teacher.
You are a team player.
If you are someone who does not work well with others, teaching is not the career for
you.4 You can be the greatest instructor in the world and you limit yourself if you cannot
effectively communicate with the parents of your students as well as your peers.A good
teacher needs to be able to work with everyone involved in the school community.
You can handle stress factors.
5 There are so many opportunities for stress within a classroom that an excellent
teacher has to be able to handle it,or they will be burned out tremendously quick. If you
cannot manage stress extremely well, then education may not be the right career for you.
A.Teaching is all about relationships.
B.You have a passion for young people.
C.All teachers have to cope with stress.
D.It is a must-have quality for every good teacher.
E.You have to overcome those once you enter your classroom.
F.It is difficult to approach any two students in the same way.
G.Teaching is one of the most rewarding careers that one can embark on.

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
What is the 80/20 Principle? It is the observation that a small number of events give rise
to the majority of effects. Most consequences come from few causes. The great majority of
outputs come from a small minority of inputs. The lion's share of results comes from a small
amount of effort and energy.
We may find that 80 percent of consequences arise from 20 percent of causes,or that 80
percent of outputs come from 20 percent of inputs,or 80 percent of results from 20 percent of
effort.Typically,20 percent of professional athletes will won 80 percent-or more-of the
competition prizes.Only 20 percent of your time will generate more than 80 percent of your
useful results.
When we collect data and test the 80/20 Principle,we usually find that most outputs flow
from few inputs.
The amazing thing about the Principle is that very few things matter at all;but those that
do matter enormously. That means most of us don't live our lives or conduct our careers
sensibly, because we don't realize that only very few inputs are all important.
The true value of the Principle is that it helps us to identify those few activities that we
should pursue because they will lead to great results.
Let's be clear. The Principle is not a theory.Nobody dreamed it up.It came from
observation-from examining the relationship between a number of causes, expressed as a
percentage,and a number of results,also expressed as a percentage.
The Principle enables us to focus on the good causes, root out the bad ones, and forget
about the mass of weak ones that make a lot of noise but lead to nothing except confusion.
For example,Steve Jobs continually focused on a handful of core products and core
features-the few features that would be used most of the time-and ignored everything else.
In 1997,when Steve Jobs became the boss of Apple, the company was near to insolvency(
)with only five weeks of cash flow left. But Jobs cut 70 percent of its models and
products.By focusing on the 30 percent of products that generated cash,Jobs saved the
company.
184you spend more than half your waking hours

I hope my idea would be helpful to you.

【思路点拨】
本文已经将故事的背景、发展、结局交代
得很清楚,也就是故事已经讲述完成。
从续写部分第一段的第一句“Now many

“我”对此事的议论。在前文中,因为“我”老是
担心刹车垫,因此夜里做梦,梦见自己在紧急

第二段的首句是“Don't ignore those messages
