My Brain Is Changing!
Throughout our lives,we are more likely to do crazy and even
dangerous things in our teenage years.Have you ever wondered why?
With the help of brain imaging technology(大脑成像技术),scientists
have studied the development of the brain.1
Fun Facts About the Brain
Our brains are almost at their full size by the age of six.2 Through these changes,we
can better balance our impulses()with the need to follow rules. But when we are young, our
still-developing brains can't do it well.3 Studies show that teenagers are more likely to take
risks. Some chemicals()produced by our brains can make us feel happy. When teenagers
think of rewards(),their brains produce more of these chemicals than adult brains.4
This hunt for greater rewards can sometimes lead teenagers to make bad decisions.5 In
the long run,the impulses of the teenage brain can help them leave the care of their parents.
They can learn to become independent and live their own lives.
A.As a result,we may do some "strange"things during our teenage years.
B.We will never know what they will do next.
C.Their findings explain why teenagers act the way they do.
D.No scientists can tell us the main reason clearly.
E.This makes teenagers feel that the rewards are more important than the risks.
F.This also means that they are less afraid to try new things.
G.However, they continue to change until the age of 25.
