On February 11, 2026, China carried out a key flight test at the Wenchang Space Launch Site. The test included the Long March-10 rocket and the Mengzhou spacecraft for China’s manned lunar mission.
The rocket lifted off at 11:00 a.m. and reached about 11 km high. At that point, it reached Max-Q—the moment when air pushes hardest against the spacecraft. This is a dangerous time during launch. The Mengzhou spacecraft received an escape command (命令) and successfully separated from the rocket. This “Max-Q abort test” checks if the spacecraft can escape quickly to keep astronauts safe in an emergency.
After separation, the return capsule (返回舱) of Mengzhou opened its parachutes (降落伞) and landed safely in the South China Sea. It was China’s first-ever sea recovery of a crewed spacecraft return capsule. The first stage of the rocket also returned and landed safely in the sea. This type of rocket is designed to be reusable—it can be used more than 10 times.
The Mengzhou spacecraft can carry three astronauts to the moon or seven to the space station. This test marked four historic firsts for China’s space program and brought China one step closer to landing astronauts on the moon by 2030.
It showed China’s progress in space technology and encouraged young people to love science and explore the universe.
1.Where did the flight test take place?
A.At the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
B.At the Wenchang Space Launch Site.
C.In the South China Sea.
D.At a school space club.
2.What is the main purpose of the “Max-Q abort test”?
A.To see if the spacecraft can escape quickly in danger.
B.To make the rocket fly faster.
C.To test the parachute of the rocket only.
D.To send astronauts to the moon directly.
3.What does the underlined word “reusable” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Can be built easily.
B.Can fly higher than before.
C.Can carry more people.
D.Can be used many times.
4.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.The Mengzhou spacecraft can only carry three people.
B.This was China’s first sea recovery of a crewed spacecraft return capsule.
C.The rocket fell into the sea and cannot be used again.
D.The test took place on February 12, 2026.
5.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.China’s successful Max-Q abort test marks a key step toward its 2030 manned lunar landing.
B.The Mengzhou spacecraft can carry three astronauts to the moon or seven to the space station.
C.The Long March-10 rocket is reusable and can be used more than 10 times.
D.China’s space program is the most advanced in the world.
1.B 2.A 3.D 4.B 5.A
原文第一段“On February 11, 2026, China carried out a key flight test at the Wenchang Space Launch Site.”,这次飞行测试在文昌航天发射场开展,因此选B。
原文第二段“This ‘Max-Q abort test’ checks if the spacecraft can escape quickly to keep astronauts safe in an emergency.”,Max-Q中止测试的目的是检验航天器遇到危险时能否快速逃逸,保障航天员安全,因此选A。
原文第三段“This type of rocket is designed to be reusable—it can be used more than 10 times.”,破折号解释reusable的含义是可以多次使用,因此选D。
原文第三段“It was China’s first-ever sea recovery of a crewed spacecraft return capsule.”,这是中国首次实现载人飞船返回舱海上回收。
全文围绕本次Max-Q逃逸试验展开,原文第四段“This test marked four historic firsts for China's space program and brought China one step closer to landing astronauts on the moon by 2030.”,文章主旨是这次成功的Max-Q中止测试,是中国迈向2030载人登月的关键一步。

3.What does the underlined word “reusable” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Can be built easily.
