1. identify specific chores from conversations;
2. make polite requests and respond appropriately in dialogues;
3. think about what else they can do for their home.

Students look at the picture and answer:

(3) How do they feel?
II. Listening Activities
1. Pre-Listening (Predicting)
Students read the list of chores and try to answer:
Which ones do you think Jim will do?
2. While-Listening (Task Completion)
(1)Play Conversation 1 (1b):
Students tick the chores Jim’s dad asks him to do.
(2)Play Conversation 2 (1c):
Students match people with their tasks.
Check answers in pairs, then as a class.
3. Post-Listening (Discussion)
(1)Think about the question and answer:
Which chores are easy/difficult? Why?
(2)Read the listening materials and circle the polite request phrases:
