No matter how many steps you take each day, your health benefits add up.But those who take 7,000 steps a day may be adding years to their lives.
New research found that middle-aged adults who took that many steps daily were up to 70 percent less likely to die at a younger-than-expected age than those whose movement total fewer than 7,000 steps a day.The study, which involved 2,110 middle-aged adults who wore a step-counting device and then were tracked for nearly 11 years, was published in the journal JAMA Network Open. How fast participants walked (referred to as their step intensity) did not affect their_mortality_risk.Rather, those who walked more lived longer. The researchers found, however, that taking more than 10,000 steps a day — the number often cited as a daily goal for health — produced no further drop in mortality risk.
Physical activity like walking is considered one of the most important things people can do to improve their well-being, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.A former CDC director described physical activity as the closest thing we have to a wonder drug.Among its benefits, walking can reduce risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and depression and it can help control weight and improve sleep. It is considered good for your bones, muscles, heart and brain.Although walking is considered safe for most people, those who have any concerns should check with their doctor before launching any new physical activity routine. For adults generally, national guidelines focus on time spent on an activity rather than number of steps, recommending 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity activity, such as walking.

The Importance of Getting Kids to Be Active
Everyone knows that kids should be physically active and need to exercise regularly to be physically fit.__8__, regular physical activity is considered by most experts to be an important part of a healthy lifestyle. However, that doesn't mean every child needs to spend four or five hours a day exercising.
How Much Exercise Do Kids Need?
It is recommended that kids should be physically active for at least 60 minutes per day.__9__.For example, if your eight-year-old played soccer for 20 minutes during PE at school and then played basketball with his friends for 40 minutes after school, he would meet the recommendation of 60 minutes of physical activity for that day.
Exercise and Calories
__10__.It can help them build self-respect, sleep better, have more energy, and reduce depression. And as most people know, along with a healthy diet, regular exercise is the best way to lose weight and prevent childhood obesity.Since your child is not likely to get his exercise using exercise equipment, it can be hard to always tell how many calories he is burning while exercising.__11__, as long as your child is getting his 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day and maintaining a healthy diet.
Youth Exercise and Fitness
Remember that kids, even teens, don't usually stick with exercise programs.__12__.Instead, kids do better with lifestyle exercise programs, such as active free play and organized team sports.
A.Fortunately, it doesn't matter
B.Regular exercise is good for kids
C.So they will be able to burn even more calories

9.选G 上文“It is recommended ...per day.”表明建议锻炼时长为60分钟,再结合下文“For example, ...that day.”可知,60分钟的锻炼可以不是连续的,因此推断G项符合语境。

11.选A 上文“Since your child ...exercising.”讲述了判断孩子锻炼燃烧了多少卡路里是困难的,下文“as long as your child ...diet”说明只要锻炼就有好处,不能判断燃烧多少卡路里并不重要,因此推断A项符合语境。
12.选D 上文“Remember that kids ...programs.”
