I wanted to join the science club, but they had no spaces left, so I had to change my decision. At first I thought I was not interested in this, but IT has turned out to be amazing. We are always learning amazing facts about nature. For example, did you know that ninety seven percent of the earth's water is actually salt water found in the oceans? That means only three percent of the planets water is fresh water. Yet we can only use about one third of IT as the remainder is too far underground, or is ice. Another interesting fact I learned from the internet is that forests cover thirty percent of all land on the earth. At least a third of that has been completely disturbed by human activity. Speaking of forests, a quarter of all modern medicines come from plants found in rainforests. That is why saving the rain forests is so important. Not only do they provide us with air to breathe, but they also grow things to keep us healthy. I'm going to share this fact with the nature club on wednesday. B Enric Sala is a former university professor, and quit the academic field to become a full-time environmental protector. In 2008, he founded Pristine Seas, a project that combines exploration, research, public policy and media to inspire the creation of ocean protection areas. It aims to protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030 for the benefit of nature and humanity. Less than 8% is currently protected. To date, the project has helped to create 29 of the largest ocean reserves on the planet, covering an area of over 6.9 million square kilometers, an area which is twice the size of India. The achievements are the result of Enric’s 36 trips across the globe, from the Southern Line Islands to Greenland and Alaska. The ongoing ocean protection efforts show Enric’s lifelong passion. He says he admires a famous French filmmaker and undersea explorer. Growing up in Catalonia in the 1970s he would sit in front of TV watching his hero every Sunday. He was fascinated by the amazing places, the brave underwater explorers and the wonderful creatures. All was what he wanted to do in his life. Enric writes that in the last century alone, humans have removed over 90% of the ocean’s large fish, yet less than 8%of the ocean is under protection. It is possible to make the ocean continuously beneficial to people and the planet. All humans must do is rewild the sea. Enric writes that preserving the planet’s wild places, on land and in the ocean, is a matter of human survival and economic importance in his book, The Nature of Nature: Why We Need the Wild, published in 2020. The process of rewilding, or recovering and protecting natural processes, allows nature to do the hard work for us. Mentioning the successes of wildlife recovery in Yellowstone National Park, Mozambique National Parks, and the Southern Line Islands, Enric adds that our natural world can be a lasting and strong engine of regeneration (再生), and that we just need to give it some space. 24. What is the goal of Pristine Seas by the year they set? A. To protect at least a third of the ocean. B. To conserve a minimum of 30% of the ocean. C. To document underwater species in Catalonia. D. To build 29 of the largest ocean reserves on Earth. 25. What inspired Enric to devote himself to ocean protection? A. His dream of becoming a famous sea explorer. B. His tiring experience as a university professor. C. His passion for the unknown underwater world. D. His admiration for what a French filmmaker did. 26. According to Enric, what is essential to hold the ocean’s benefits to humans? A. Rewilding the sea. B. Strengthening fishing activities. C. Increasing ocean exploration. D. Educating people on marine life. 27. Why does Enric mention the example of the wildlife recovery successes? A. To highlight the importance of national parks. B. To prove that nature can regenerate if given space. C. To criticize the impact of human activities on wildlife. D. To compare different methods of environmental protection. C Why did the cow go to Hollywood? Because it wanted to be in the moo-vies! Get it? Because “moo” is the sound a cow makes! This is an example of a dad joke. Anyone can make a dad joke — you don’t have to be a parent. Most of the time it’s just a joke that uses a very obvious and predictable pun (双关语). Dad jokes are usually thought to be pretty harmless, and maybe even cause feelings of love. And researchers have found that humor may actually be an important tool for parents. A team from the US wanted to find out more about the effect humor can have when it is used by parents when raising their children. More than 300 people aged between 18 and 45 took part in a survey. They were asked to say whether they agreed or disagreed with a number of statements about humor in parenting. These included their memories of whether humor was used by their own parents, and if they might use it with their own children. More than 70% of the participants said they believed humor can be a useful tool in parenting. And 55% said that they had been raised by parents who used humor in their parenting. The study also found that people whose parents used humor were more likely to say they had a good relationship with their parents. Many participants even said they’d like to take a course to learn about how they could use humor in parenting. So why does it work? The researchers said family life can be stressful, and humor can be a good way to reduce stress levels in the home. But that doesn’t just mean telling more dad jokes—humor could be used instead of anger to relieve a stressful situation, for example. 28. How did the author introduce the phrase “dad joke”? A. By giving an example. B. By making a definition. C. By explaining where to use it. D. By showing its hidden meaning. 29. In which aspect do researchers plan to figure out the function of humor? A. Family harmony. B. Social gatherings. C. Parenting skills. D. Parenting stress. 30. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The benefits of using humor in education. B. Different types of humor used by parents. C. The disadvantages of humor in family relationships. D. Participants’ views on the use of humor in parenting. 31. What might be talked about in the following paragraph? A. How humor deals with pressure. B. What effect humor has on home. C. Which humor should be stressed. D. Why humor makes people happy. D We’ve launched so many satellites into space that we now have a huge orbital waste problem. The European Space Agency (ESA) noted that over 6600 tons of space waste is currently floating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Space waste consists of various small things. Some are objects created when a payload (the equipment carried by a spacecraft or satellite) explodes or crashes into another in space. Some are objects intentionally launched during the functioning of a payload, such as covers for light-sensing instruments. Rocket bodies, or the orbital stages of launch vehicles and protective shields (盾) and engines also add to the problem. Even tiny pieces of space waste, as small as a millimeter wide, can cause serious damage to spacecraft and satellites. According to Tiago Soares, lead engineer of ESA’s Clean Space Office, a one-centimeter piece of waste has the energy of a bomb. There are at least 1.2 million objects larger than one centimeter speeding around our orbit right now. Each of these can crash into something else, and risk creating hundreds more pieces of waste in a chain reaction, which we call the Kessler effect. In 2024, there were several major fragmentation (碎裂) events, and several smaller ones. This has led to a large increase in objects in one year, with at least 3,000 new ones being tracked. At present, there are no international space laws in place obliging waste to be cleaned up in LEO. However, space agencies like the ESA have rules and suggestions to cut down the making of space waste. The ESA plans to use the ClearSpace-1 spacecraft to take the suitcase-sized PROBA-1 satellite out of orbit in 2028. If these plans actually work out, they’ll be among the first real space waste cleanup missions ever. However, making greater efforts to clear even a small part of the huge amount of waste in LEO will be difficult, and take ages. Hopefully, as launches continue to become cheaper and more accessible, we’ll see more waste removal in orbit. 32. What can be inferred about the creation of space waste? A. It is partially due to human activities. B. It is a result of natural disasters in space. C. It is mainly caused by outdated satellites. D. It primarily originates from private space companies. 33. What does the Kessler effect refer to? A. A kind of energy released by tiny pieces of space waste. B. A chain reaction where space waste gets new energy. C. A creation of new space missions to clean space waste. D. A chain reaction where space waste creates more waste. 34. What does the underlined word “obliging” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Requiring. B. Forbidding. C. Permitting. D. Selecting. 35 What can be the best title for the text? A. The Causes of Space Waste B. The Kessler Effect and Its Impact C. The Growing Problem of Space Waste D. The Danger of Cleaning Up Space Waste Have you had trouble concentrating on tasks or getting things done? Here are four helpful ways to improve your focus and help you reach the finish line. Take a deep breath ____36____. When you’re stressed, your attention narrows. The fight-or-flight response starts working. Your heart beats a little faster, and you might get a little sweaty because you’re anxious. So if something requires your full attention, take a breath and calm your body down. It is your body’s response to that stress that’s causing the limitation in attention. Allow your mind to wander If you are finding it hard to focus, take a break and allow your mind to wander into what’s called the default mode (默认模式) network. ____37____. It’s the place where our minds find innovation and creativity and often make better decisions than the focused mind. Get yourself there with something called positive constructive daydreaming. Try traveling with your mind to someplace enjoyable — maybe it’s a walk through an imaginary forest or sunbathing on a warm, sandy beach. Free your mind for about 20 minutes of this fun and watch what happens. ____38____ You should set some limitations if you often find yourself wasting time on social media, and it’s making you feel stressed and ashamed. Try turning off push notifications (推送通知) and removing social media apps from your phone to create natural obstacles to accessing them. ____39____. Remember your time is precious Think about all the people and things you consider most important — your friends and your hobbies. ____40____. Are the lists the same? Do you keep putting off learning to play a new song because social media won’t stop drawing your attention? If you’re just giving away the only precious thing you have, make sure you spend it wisely. A. This is where magic happens B. Pick what you currently have C. Stress can affect your ability to focus D. Get rid of what takes your attention away E. If they’re not enough, use some tools to help you F. Only in this way can you fix your mind on something creative G. Unlike the first one, it didn’t need any extra ____52____. It stood firm, quietly showing how focusing on the good can bring a stronger, more balanced ____53____. In early 2020, I planned a trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota and arrived there on June 23rd, not knowing I was about to have an adventure. The most exciting part of my adventure in South Dakota happened on July 5th in Custer. I woke up at 3:47 am, crawled out of my sleeping bag, and ate an energy bar. Then I walked to a hot air balloon company in downtown Custer for a 5 am meeting. There, I met other sleepy tourists who were there for the same reason as me. After filling out some paperwork and paying the fees, we got into a car and were taken to a field, followed by four trucks full of colorful materials. In the field, I got out of the car and watched as four colorful hot air balloons were fitted and inflated (充气). A few minutes later, I climbed into a basket along with other passengers. The basket was divided into four sections around the pilot in the center. Two couples and a family were in the other sections. However, all good things had to come to an end. From the pilot’s radio, I learned that due to a sudden change in the weather, the wind became unstable, and we needed to find a safe place to land quickly. We seemed to be descending (下降) very fast. I noticed the pilot struggling against the wind. He was constantly adjusting the burner and the parachute vent (伞阀) to control the balloon’s descent speed, but the strong wind made it difficult. As we continued to descend, he said, “Everyone, I need you to sit down, face backward, and cover your heads.” We followed his instructions. The basket shook violently back and forth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The few seconds, during which the balloon was landing on the grass, was like hours. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高三英语考试 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? What contributes to a quarter of all modern medicines according to the speaker? A. Plants in rainforests. B. Animals in oceans. C. Wildlife in undisturbed areas. C 18. A 19. B 20. M: I recently joined the nature club at school. I wanted to join the science club but they had no spaces left so I had to change my decision. At first, I thought I was not interested in this but it has turned out to be amazing. We are always learning amazing facts about nature. For example, did you know that 97% of the Earth’s water is actually salt water found in the oceans? That means only three percent of the planet’s water is fresh water. Yet we can only use about one third of it as the remainder is too far underground or is ice. Another interesting fact I learned from the Internet is that forests cover 30% of all land on the earth. At least a third of that has been completely undisturbed by human activity. Speaking of forests, a quarter of all modern medicines come from plants found in rain forests. That is why saving the rainforests is so important. Not only do they provide us with air to breathe, but they also grow things to keep us healthy. I’m going to share this fact with the nature club on Wednesday. A If you want to avoid boarding an Amtrak train or a Brightline train to go on more scenic train journeys, here’s what you need to know. Growing up in Catalonia in the 1970s, he would sit in front of TV watching his hero every Sunday. B 25. D 26. A 27. 根据第一段中的“It aims to protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030 for the benefit of nature and humanity.(为了自然和人类的利益,该项目旨在到2030年保护至少30%的海洋。)” 根据第三段中的“He says he admires a famous French filmmaker and undersea explorer. All humans must do is rewild the sea.(让海洋持续造福人类和地球是可能的。人类所要做的就是让海洋恢复野生状态。)”可知,Enric认为,让海洋持续为人类带来益处的关键是让海洋恢复野生状态。故选A项。 根据最后一段中的“Mentioning the successes of wildlife recovery in Yellowstone National Park, Mozambique National Parks, and the Southern Line Islands, Enric adds that our natural world can be a lasting and strong engine of regeneration, and that we just need to give it some space.(提到黄石国家公园、莫桑比克国家公园和南线群岛的野生动物恢复成功案例,Enric补充说,我们的自然世界可以成为一个持久而强大的再生引擎,我们只需要给它一些空间。)” C Why did the cow go to Hollywood? 【答案】28 A 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第一段中的“Why did the cow go to Hollywood? Because it wanted to be in the moo-vies! Get it? Because ‘moo’ is the sound a cow makes!(为什么奶牛要去好莱坞?因为它想参演‘牛影’(moo-vies与movies同音)!明白了吗?因为‘moo’是奶牛发出的声音!)”以及第二段中的“This is an example of a dad joke.(这就是一个‘爸爸笑话’的例子)”可知,作者通过举例介绍了“爸爸笑话”这一短语。故选A项。 根据第三段中的“A team from the US wanted to find out more about the effect humor can have when it is used by parents when raising their children.(美国的一个研究小组想进一步了解父母在养育孩子时使用幽默所产生的影响)”可知,研究人员计划弄清楚幽默在育儿技巧方面的作用。 根据第四段中的“More than 70% of the participants said they believed humor can be a useful tool in parenting. And 55% said that they had been raised by parents who used humor in their parenting. The study also found that people whose parents used humor were more likely to say they had a good relationship with their parents. Many participants even said they’d like to take a course to learn about how they could use humor in parenting. (超过70%的参与者表示,他们认为幽默可以成为育儿过程中的一个有用工具。55%的人说,他们的父母在养育自己时就使用过幽默。研究还发现,父母使用幽默的人更有可能表示自己与父母关系融洽。许多参与者甚至表示,他们愿意参加相关课程,学习如何在育儿中运用幽默。)”可知,第四段主要讲述了参与者对在育儿中使用幽默的看法。故选D项。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“The researchers said family life can be stressful, and humor can be a good way to reduce stress levels in the home. But that doesn’t just mean telling more dad jokes—humor could be used instead of anger to relieve a stressful situation, for example.(研究人员表示,家庭生活可能充满压力,而幽默是减轻家庭压力的好方法。但这不仅仅意味着讲更多的‘爸爸笑话’——例如,幽默可以用来代替愤怒来缓解紧张的局面)”可知,接下来的段落可能会谈论幽默是如何应对压力的。故选A项。 D We’ve launched so many satellites into space that we now have a huge orbital waste problem. The European Space Agency (ESA) noted that over 6,600 tons of space waste is currently floating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). C It is mainly caused by outdated satellites. A. Requiring. B. Forbidding. C. Permitting. D. Selecting. 35. What can be the best title for the text? A. The Causes of Space Waste B. The Kessler Effect and Its Impact C. The Growing Problem of Space Waste D. The Danger of Cleaning Up Space Waste 【答案】32. A 33. D 34. A 35. 根据第二段中的“Some are objects intentionally launched during the functioning of a payload, such as covers for light-sensing instruments. Rocket bodies, or the orbital stages of launch vehicles and protective shields and engines also add to the problem.(有些是在有效载荷运行过程中有意发射的物体,比如光感应仪器的盖子。火箭体,即运载火箭的轨道级、防护罩和发动机也加剧了这个问题。)”可知,太空垃圾的产生的部分原因是由于人类活动。故选A项。 根据第三段中的“Each of these can crash into something else, and risk creating hundreds more pieces of waste in a chain reaction, which we call the Kessler effect.(每一个这样的物体都可能撞上其他物体,并有可能在连锁反应中产生数百个更多的垃圾碎片,我们称之为凯斯勒效应。)” 根据第四段中的“At present, there are no international space laws in place obliging waste to be cleaned up in LEO. However, space agencies like the ESA have rules and suggestions to cut down the making of space waste.(目前,还没有国际太空法obliging在低地球轨道上清理垃圾。然而,像欧洲航天局这样的太空机构有减少太空垃圾产生的规则和建议。)”可知,上下文之间为转折关系,由此可推断,划线单词所在的句子意为“目前,没有国际太空法规定在低地球轨道上清理垃圾”,因此“obliging”意为“要求”。故选A项。 Have you had trouble concentrating on tasks or getting things done? Then think about who and what you actually spend your time on 【答案】36. C 37. A 38. D 39. E 40. 【36题详解】 根据本段小标题“Take a deep breath (深呼吸)”以及空后的“When you’re stressed, your attention narrows. The fight-or-flight response starts working. Your heart beats a little faster, and you might get a little sweaty because you’re anxious. (当你感到压力时,你的注意力范围会缩小。“战斗或逃跑”反应开始起作用:你的心跳会稍快一些,由于焦虑,你可能还会微微出汗。)”可知,压力对专注力有影响。C选项“Stress can affect your ability to focus (压力会影响你的专注力)”中的“stress”与空后内容相呼应,点明了本段主旨,符合语境。故选C项。 【37题详解】 根据空前的“If you are finding it hard to focus, take a break and allow your mind to wander into what’s called the default mode (默认模式) network. (如果你发现很难集中注意力,休息一下,让你的思绪漫游到所谓的默认模式网络中。)”以及空后的“It’s the place where our minds find innovation and creativity and often make better decisions than the focused mind. (在这个地方,我们的大脑能找到创新和创造力,而且往往能做出比专注时更好的决定。)”可知,此处应说明默认模式网络是产生奇妙效果的地方。A选项“This is where magic happens (这就是奇迹发生的地方)”中的“This”指代前文的“default mode network”,且与空后对其作用的描述相呼应,符合语境。故选A项。 【38题详解】 分析语篇可知,此处应为本段的小标题,与其他段落相同,应为祈使句,根据空后的“You should set some limitations if you often find yourself wasting time on social media, and it’s making you feel stressed and ashamed. Try turning off push notifications (推送通知) and removing social media apps from your phone to create natural obstacles to accessing them. (如果你经常发现自己在社交媒体上浪费时间,且这让你感到焦虑不安和愧疚,就应该设定一些限制。试着关闭推送通知,并将社交媒体应用从手机上删除,以此为访问它们设置一些自然的障碍。)”可知,本段讲述的内容与摆脱干扰注意力的事物相关。D选项“Get rid of what takes your attention away (摆脱那些分散你注意力的东西)”为祈使句,且能概括本段主题,适合作本段小标题。故选D项。 【39题详解】 根据空前的“Try turning off push notifications (推送通知) and removing social media apps from your phone to create natural obstacles to accessing them. (试着关闭推送通知,把社交媒体应用从手机上删除,为访问它们设置自然障碍。)”可知,此处应说明如果这些方法不够,还可以借助工具。E选项“If they’re not enough, use some tools to help you (如果这些还不够,用一些工具来帮助你)”中的“they”指代前文提到的方法,承接前文内容,符合语境。故选E项。 【40题详解】 根据空前的“Think about all the people and things you consider most important — your friends and your hobbies. (想想所有你认为最重要的人和事——你的朋友和你的爱好。)”以及空后的“Are the lists the same? Do you keep putting off learning to play a new song because social media won’t stop drawing your attention? (这两份清单一样吗?你是不是因为社交媒体一直吸引你的注意力而推迟学习演奏一首新歌?)”可知,此处应建议思考实际花费时间在哪些人和事上。G选项“Then think about who and what you actually spend your time on (然后想想你实际上把时间花在了谁和什么事情上)”中的“Then”承接前文的“Think about”,且与空后对两份清单的对比相呼应,符合语境。 A touching lesson on healing came unexpectedly for me during a simple walk on the beach with my daughter last weekend. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: The basket shook violently back and forth. We were thrown from side to side as the balloon bounced across the uneven ground. I kept my head covered and held tightly to the edge, feeling the impact with every jolt. One couple cried out, but I focused on staying low and bracing myself. The pilot shouted calm instructions, reminding us not to stand until he gave the all-clear. Dust and grass flew into the air, making it hard to breathe. Finally, the movement slowed, and the balloon came to a stop, half-collapsed on its side. The few seconds, during which the balloon was landing on the grass, was like hours. When the pilot confirmed it was safe, we slowly stood up, shaken but unharmed. Despite the rough landing, everyone felt a sense of relief and even excitement. We had faced an unexpected challenge together. The ground crew arrived quickly, helping us out and beginning the process of packing the balloon. Looking back, though frightening, the experience deepened my appreciation for nature’s unpredictability and the skill of the pilot who kept us safe. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①抛:throw/toss ②专注:focus on/concentrate on ③回顾:look back/reflect on it now/think back 情绪类 ①惊吓:frightening/scary/alarming ②宽慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】【高分句型1】We were thrown from side to side as the balloon bounced across the uneven ground.
