experiences. This early interest inspired his dream of becoming an engineer.
Larry studied mechanical engineering in college but didn’t realise he could
design roller coasters as a career. Later, a friend told him about a job opportunity
at Six Flags. This excited him, and he decided to become a roller-coaster engineer.
Today, he is responsible for engineering work at Six Flags parks worldwide. He
oversees the design and construction of rides, including over 1,000 rides in North
America alone, with 157 of them being roller coasters.
One of Larry’s current projects is Falcon’s Flight, the tallest, fastest, and
longest roller coaster ever built. It is constructed at Six Flags in Saudi Arabia.

Larry’s job requires creativity and problem-solving skills. For example, he once
worked with engineers to make rides more accessible for people with disabilities,
showing his care for inclusivity.
Larry often visits the Six Flags Great Adventure park in Jackson Township,
New Jersey, where his office is located. He watches visitors understand what
makes rides enjoyable. He believes creating fun rides is harder than just making
them tall or fast. “If I want a ride to be tall, I can make it tall. But figuring
out how to make it fun is the real challenge,” he says.

Among the rides he has designed, Larry is especially proud of the Iron
Rattler in San Antonio, Texas. This roller coaster takes riders past beautiful rock
walls before dropping almost straight down. Larry feels happy knowing his
designs bring daily excitement to visitors. His journey from a roller-coaster-loving
child to a chief engineer proves that passion and hard work can turn dreams into
reality.
