Step 2 Work on Activity 5 1.Ask students to observe the differences between the two sets of sentences in Activity 5 and think about the meanings they express. 2.Show more sentences from the reading passage with the present perfect tense. 3.Guide students to summarise the grammar rules of the present perfect tense when used to express an action or state that started in the past and continues to the present.Explain the usage of for and since，and give some examples. 4.Have students look at the grammar rules on p128 for further understanding. Step 3 Work on Activity 6 and 7 1.Ask students to complete the sentences with for or since in Activity 6. 2.Have students complete the news article with for，since and the correct form of the words in brackets. 3.Check the answers together and explain the reasons for each choice.
