So far, China has successfully sent lots of satellites and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving them names.
Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang’e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China’s first man-made satellite to move around the moon was named Chang’e I. More interestingly, the moon rover (探测器) was named after Jade Rabbit, who is the partner of Chang’e in the story. These old stories carry people’s best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true.
Kuafu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kuafu is going with the scientists to “visit” the sun, because we have a space project called KuaFu Mission.
Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2,000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China’s first quantum (量子) science satellite was named after Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground.
From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence (影响) it has on our modern science and technology.
23. What do we know about Chang’e I according to the passage?
A. It moves around the moon. B. It protects Jade Rabbit.
C. It “visits” the sun with the scientists. D. It is the world’s first man-made satellite.
24. How does the writer explain his opinion in Paragraph 4?
A. By listing numbers. B. By comparing facts.
C. By giving an example. D. By reporting a result.
25. Which is the right structure of the passage?(①=Paragraph 1)
A. B. C. D.
26. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Learning the traditional Chinese culture.
B. Explaining how our scientists develop the space science.
C. Introducing the achievements in our science and technology.
D. Telling how traditional Chinese culture influences our space science.
【答案】23. A 24. C 25. B 26. D

Swifts (雨燕) live mostly in the air. These small birds are among the fastest animals on Earth. In fact, swifts can fly two or three days without touching the ground! To get used to life in the sky, swifts use their speed and the saliva (唾液) in their mouths.
Swifts can fly faster than 100 miles per hour. That’s because their wings are like boomerangs (回力镖). This shape of the wings helps them to fly fast. They can also move one wing faster than the other, which allows them to make sharp turns without slowing down. Making fast, sharp turns helps swifts catch flying bugs to eat.
The saliva helps swifts catch bugs to feed their young babies. It is sticky, like glue. Swifts often fly into clouds of bugs such as mosquitoes and open their wide mouths to catch as many insects as they can. The bird collects insects in its mouth gradually and holds the insects in a sticky ball of saliva. One food ball can hold nearly 1,000 bugs.
Swifts also use their saliva as glue to build their nests. The birds catch feathers in the air and stick the feathers together to build a strong nest. Swifts’ short feet are not fit for walking or standing on land for long. But their sharp claws allow them to stick to rocks and walls so they can take a short rest before returning to the sky.
27. What does the second paragraph mainly tell us?
A. How far swifts can fly. B. How swifts turn around in the sky.
C. Why swifts make sharp turns. D. Why swifts can fly and turn so fast.
28. What does the underlined word “It” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A. The saliva. B. The air. C. The shape. D. The speed.
29. Which of the following is TRUE about swifts?
A. They don’t usually live on land because of their wings.
B. They can fly for a long time because of their small bodies.
C. They can’t walk for a long time because of their short feet.
D. They can catch nearly 100 bugs in one go with the saliva.
30. What is the best title of the passage?
A. A small pet. B. Life in the sky.
C. The fastest speed. D. The special saliva.

28 What does the underlined word “It” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A. The saliva. B. The air. C. The shape. D. The speed.
