Step 2 Work on 1a-1b 1.Ask the students to read the sentences in 1a,and check the statements that are true for them,and present the new words while doing it. 2.Ask the students to finish 1b. (1)Ask the students to think about the question “What other things are difficult for you?” and add the answers to the list in 1b. (2)Ask some pairs of students to do like this: S1:I can't pronounce some of the words. S2:Well,some of the words can be difficult to read.You could ask the teacher or other classmates for help.Another good way is by listening to a tape. 3.The teacher gives proper advice,and then lets the students give advice by themselves. Step 3 Work on 1c-1d 1.Ask the students to read the sentences in 1c and 1d.Then let them prepare for the listening. 2.Play the tape and ask the students to finish the task in 1c. 3.Play the tape again and ask the students to finish the task in 1d. 4.Play the tape for a third time and let the students follow and understand the dialogue.
