It's Necessary to Get Along with Neighbours
Neighbourhood is a place for each of us to live, and it is
supposed to be peaceful and friendly. Having a good
relationship with our neighbours is really necessary for all
of us.
Last Friday,when I reached home, I couldn't get in.
Because of my carelessness, Ilost my keys. What was worse,
neither my mother nor my father was in. At that time,my
neighbour,Aunt Li,passed by and asked me what happened.
Then she invited me to her house to wait, and offered me a
delicious meal. I was really moved then.
Above all,a good relationship among neighbours is
necessary for each of us. When our neighbours are in need,

My Favourite Invention
As you know, there are so many inventions in our life.
My favourite invention is the smartphone.
Smartphones bring us great convenience. First of all, we
can easily communicate with family and friends far away on
the phone. Second, it's easy for us to get all kinds of
information from smartphones in time. Besides, if we want to
get relaxed after finishing homework, smartphones can
provide us with music, pictures, movies and so on. It has
truly changed the way we live and work.
I hope more amazing inventions will come out to make
our lives better.

(阜阳一模)Are you troubled by housework, such as cleaning tables or tidying your room?A new robot
is here to help! At the beginning of 2024,the robot Mobile ALOHA made by scientists in the US became
popular online.
In the videos posted, we can see the robot preparing dishes, from cutting vegetables to breaking eggs.
t's also good at watering plants, petting cats, cleaning the floor and washing clothes.
Sounds good?Well, another video posted by researchers may disappoint some people. Mobile AL HA
isn't good at doing housework on its own. Instead, it learns from human actions before doing each kind of
housework. When the situation changes, it can't work well without a human“teaching”it. Then it may
break dishes, hit things and even burn a pot. The robot can successfully move chairs 80of the time. For
cooking dishes, the success rate is only 40?n short, it's far from perfect.
In fact,AI robots are good at tasks such as solving maths problems and playing chess, but they face
challenges when it comes to simpler actions like cleaning. And it's the same for Mobile ALOHA. For
example,if its body doesn't move accurately—even just with a small deviation(偏差),its arm may move
too far to pick up a glass.
“Robots are not ready to take over the world,”said some scientists.
( )5.What can we know from paragraph 3?
A.Mobile ALOHA isn't useful at all.
B.Mobile ALOHA is far from perfect.
C.Mobile ALOHA learns from computers.
D.Mobile ALOHA can do most of the housework.
( )6.What is Mobile ALOHA good at?

The First Shenzhen'International'Intelligent Sanitation(卫生)Cleaning Robot Competition was held in
March 2024.
A total of 37 robots got awards at the competition.Four of them won first prizes, seven second prizes,
ten third prizes, and the others received merit(优秀)prizes.
At first, companies developed cleaning robots based on their understandings of market demands. This
competition, also the world's first sanitation robot competition, however, was set to change this situation. It
aimed to help the high-quality development of sanitation cleaning robots.
The driverless sweeper S330,developed by a company from Shenzhen, won one of the first prizes. It
was the only one to sucessfully finish cleaning on a 20-degree slope(斜坡)at the competition. The sweeper
S330 is a highly intelligent outdoor driverless sweeper and it has a large rubbish box. It can dump rubbish by

Recently,a group of thin-legged robotic dogs are working to carry trash on the
narrow and steep(陡峭的)paths of Mount Taishan.“Please don't litter! work very
hard every day and I don't want to be too tired," one robot dog says in a short video.
The video has received millions of likes online.
Keeping Mount Taishan clean is a big headache. In 2023,there were over 8.6
million visitors and they left nearly 24,000 tons of rubbish behind. As big machines couldn't be used there,
the area has depended on porters, also known as tiaoshangong in Chinese, to carry trash up and down the
mountain on foot. However, fewer people now want to do this job.
The robotic dogs, also called Unitree B2,are produced by Unitree Robotics,a Chinese technology
company in Hangzhou. “The robots can carry up to 120 kilograms and can climb for four to six hours on a
single charge,"said Ma,a manager of Mount Taishan. In a recent test run,a robotic dog finished the 9.5-
kilometre route in just two hours, about twice the speed of a human climber. The robot has a built-in camera
and can monitor things around so that it won't knock into tourists.
People had different views on the robots. Some gave a thumb-up to the use of new technology. Others
worried that porters would lose their jobs. A few even joked,“Can the dogs carry tourists too?”Ma said,
“Robotic dogs are of great help but they cannot fully replace humans.”
( )13. Why are robotic dogs working at Mount Taishan?
A.To keep tourists safe. B.To pick up and carry trash.
C.To make funny videos. D.To bring more visitors.

A.Robotic dogs could carry tourists one day.
B.More porters will be needed in the future.
C. Humans are stillnecessary even with technology.
D.Tourists love the new robotic dogs.
( )16.What is the best title for this passage?
A.Robots are changing Mount Taishan
B.Porters and robots work together on Mount Taishan
C.Robotic dogs help clean Mount Taishan

Nature is full of great ideas. 17.___
Many blind people use canes(手杖)to move around. They tap their canes on the ground in front of them
to feel if anything is in their way. One amazing invention was a new cane to help blind people. It helps them
move around more safely. This invention was an idea from bats. The cane works by sending out sound waves
or signals. 18.___
How bats get around
Bats make sounds when they fly at night. People cannot hear these sounds, but they help bats fly in the
dark. Bats send sound waves out of their mouth or nose. These sound waves hit objects around them. Then
they come back as an echo(回声). The echo tells bats how far away things like trees are. 19._____
An amazing idea
The scientist who invented the new cane watched how bats fly. Then he built a lightweight cane.He
added something that sends and receives sound waves. Finally, he tested the cane. It worked!
20.
The cane sends out signals. When an echo is sent back, the cane's handle vibrates(振动). This helps
the person holding the cane know how far away an object is. They will also know how big the object is.
This cane shows that great ideas really can come from nature.
二、完形填空(共10小题,每小题1分;满分10分)
A.How the cane works
B.It also helps them know where to find food to eat.
C.These signals are almost the same as the bats use when they fly.
D. People will get more new ideas from the bats and other animals.
E.Some inventors get ideas from nature to make some useful things.
阅读短文,理解其大意,从A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

新素材29 December,2024,was a wonderful moment for China's high-speed trains. Two samples of
the CR450 high-speed train were shown in Beijing on the day. This kind of train can reach a speed of 450
31. __(kilometre)per hour in the test. When it 32._____( start)to be put into use for business,
it will be the quickest high-speed train in the world, much 33._____(fast)than the CR400 that runs at
350 km/h.
The China State Railway Group, which made this train, said that the CR450 has set new global
standards in many important parts like speed, using less energy, making less noise, and braking(刹车)
performance. Even though it goes at 34._____higher speed, its braking is as good as the 350 km/h
trains. This is because the great engineering design helps to keep the train steady and safe even when it runs
35.___(quick).
The CR450 also cares a lot about making passengers feel comfortable.36._____using good noise-
cutting technology, the inside of the train is as quiet as the 350 km/h trains. What's more, its running
resistance(抗性)has been reduced by 22 percent,37._______its weight has been reduced by 10 percent,
which helps to save energy. The inside has been made again, with 4 percent more room, and there are better
38._____(place)to put baggage.

(盘锦开学考试)Across the world, humans buy around 1.3 billion single-use plastic botles a day. However,
only about 9of them are recycled and most of them end up in landfills, the ocean or elsewhere in nature.
When beach-loving Madison Checketts noticed that many plastic bottles polluted the sand during her
family trip to California, the 12-year-old American girl realized that this needed to be changed. So for her
school science project, she decided to focus on reducing plastic litter.

During her research,Madison came across a special method of packing water within an eatable
material—a gel membrane(凝胶膜). At that time, the girl got her idea: She would design an eatable water
bottle called the Eco-Hero.
To carry out her idea, Madison developed the method by doing scientific tests with common food
additives. She also learned from previous research on eatable water botles. Based on the past research, she
improved the method and made her bottles bigger and able to last for a longer time. She found that water,
lemon juice and other chemicals could be used together to make a gel bag that wouldn't break. And the bag
could hold up to 3/4cup of water and could be kept in the fridge for three weeks.
“My biggest goal with this project is to help the world,”says the young inventor. She hopes her
invention can encourage others to take better care of the planet. “It doesn't necessarily have to be in a big
way,"she adds. “People can make a difference to the world, even if it's just in a small way."
41.How many plastic bottles are recycled a day across the world?
42.What did Madison's school science project focus on?
43.How long could the gel bag be kept in the fridge?
44.As a student, what can you do in your daily life to take care of our planet?Write 30 words or more.
