Lesson 1
I. Teaching Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. talk about holiday activities and experiences using target vocabulary
2. understand and use indefinite pronouns in context.
3. express feelings and opinions about holidays
4. develop listening skills by identifying key information in holiday-related conversations.

(3) extract details by listening like locations, activities etc.
2. Teaching Difficulties:
(1) use simple past tense and indefinite pronouns correctly and naturally in speech.
III. Teaching Procedures
1. Warm-up (5 mins)
Look & Share:
(1)What is the relationship of the people in the photo? (e.g., family/friends)
(2) Where are they? (e.g., beach/mountains)
(3) What are they doing? (e.g., hiking/celebrating).
Purpose: Activate prior knowledge and introduce the topic.
2. Pre-listening (8 mins)
Activity 1: Vocabulary Brainstorming
(1)Students tick activities they did in summer (1a: took music lessons, visited grandparents).
(2)Add more activities (e.g., played soccer, traveled abroad).
(3)Ask&answer
Share their lists using:
"I went to… / I visited… / I didn’t…"
Activity 2: Predict Listening Content
- Ask: What activities might Yaming and Emma do? (Based on 1a options).
3. While-Listening (12 mins)
Task 1: Listen and Circle (1b)
- Students listen and circle activities heard.
-Speak out their answers and check answers.
Task 2: Gap-Fill (1c)
-Listening tip: listen for key words and write down the first letter of each key word.
-Listen again and complete summaries.
4. Post-Listening (15 mins)
Activity 1: Role-Play (1d)
- In pairs, students act as Yaming/Emma:
A: Where did you go on holiday?
B: I went to… I saw… It was…
- Encourage using adjectives (fun, tiring...).
Activity 2: Indefinite Pronouns Practice
- Write prompts on board:
"Did you meet anyone special?" / "I didn’t go anywhere crowded."
- Students create 2 sentences about their holidays.
5. Summary (3 mins)
(1)Recap:
- Key vocabulary (holiday activities).
- Grammar (indefinite pronouns).
- Listening strategies (focus on keywords).
(2)Think "What makes a great holiday?" (Link to BIG Question).
IV. Homework
1. Speaking: Read and remember the conversations.
2. Listening Practice: Find an English song/video about holidays; list 3 activities mentioned.
