教学用具:Multi-media
教学方法:Group work, discussion
教学实施过程:
1. Have students look at pictures of some natural phenomena and answer the following
questions.
(1) What natural phenomena do you know about?
Rainbows, lightning, polar lights, eclipses and karst landforms.
(2) Which one are you interested in? What is behind the natural phenomenon?
A rainbow. It is really an amazing natural phenomenon. It is an arc of different colours
that you can sometimes see in the sky, caused by the refraction and internal reflection of
sunlight rays that enter the water droplets in the atmosphere. The colours of the rainbow are
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
2. Have students discuss the natural phenomena they are interested in and choose one to
research.

Natural phenomenon:What, When and where,How
4. Have students read the sample on page 13 and discuss the following questions.
(1) What is a mirage?
It is an optical phenomenon that makes you see something that is actually not there.
(2) When and where can you see it?

7. Have students proofread the draft to make sure there are no mistakes. When PPT slides are
finished, each group member should read them carefully and give suggestions on how to
improve them.
8.Have students present their PPT slides to the whole class and explain some scientific
knowledge of their chosen natural phenomenon.
9. Have students evaluate the PPT slides and give comments.
10. Have the whole class vote on which group is the best.
