Oklahoma School Testing Program for English Language Arts
Purpose
This testing assessment system utilizes different types of assessment to gather multiple pieces of evidence to provide timely, relevant, actionable, and reliable information about what students know and can do relative to a set of standards.
Test Structure, Format, and Scoring
The English Language Arts operational test is meant to be administered in two sessions within one day with a break between sessions or on two instructional days in a row. Each section of the test consists of 25 operational items and 5 field-test items.
Short constructed-response items provide students with the opportunity to respond to items in their own words. A typical response is 1-3 sentences. Each multiple-choice item is scored as correct or incorrect. Technology-enhanced items are worth one point and are scored as correct or incorrect.
Test Administration Details
Paper/pencil testing is administrated in this test. Due to the nature of a paper test booklet, students may have to flip pages to read passages and to read the associated test items.
Students will be able to use scratch paper and/or unmarked grid (方格) paper for the paper. The scratch paper must be collected and destroyed by the test administrator immediately following the test.
1. How many test items are there in total?
A. 25. B. 30. C. 50. D. 60.
2. What is prohibited in the test?

Sweat slips down my cheek as I glide (滑动) my fingers through the cool water. I’ve reached the turnaround point of the day’s kayaking (皮划艇) trip. I attempt a shoulder stretch and look around. It’s just me, a couple of seabirds, and shining freshwater to the horizon. This, I whisper to myself, is awesome.
Solo (独自的) outings had never crossed my mind before because I always had a friend with me. But three years ago, I moved to Cleveland. Meeting friends in a new city was tough.
In October 2020, I decided to take adventure on a solo hiking trip. I went to Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) to admire the autumn leaves. Four miles in, I couldn’t remember the last time I’d felt so alive. I was more aware of my surroundings than I’d ever been while hiking that day. I studied the markings of trees, focused my ears on each forest sound and did something I almost never made time for: I listened to my own thoughts. Every word bubble in my mind pointed to a newfound truth-solo hiking is my happy place.
When spring arrived, I decided to check off another solo sport: kayaking. My chest, initially tightened by nerves, was bursting with happiness when I finally reached the middle of the river that I’d long admired back on shore.
Since that first solo hiking, adventuring alone has become like medicine for me. It has also pushed me to go beyond my comfort zone and to meet new people. Through meetups and social media, my adventure-friend circle has ballooned. But at least once per month, I schedule time to hit nature with my favorite friend: me.
4. What pushed the author to start going on solo outings?
A. A longing for a peaceful life.
B. A desire to challenge herself.
C. Living close to a national park.
D. Difficulty in finding companions.
5. What did the author do during her first solo hiking trip in CVNP?
A. She explored a new route for hiking.
B. She paid attention to her inner voice.
C. She collected a variety of autumn leaves.
D. She recorded the forest sounds on her phone.
6. How did the author feel after her first kayaking trip?
A. Surprised. B. Delighted. C. Nervous. D. Lonely.
7. What does the underlined word “ballooned” in the last paragraph mean?
A. restarted B. transformed C. disappeared D. expanded
【答案】4. D 5. B 6. B 7. D
【解析】

Mind mapping has become an increasingly popular learning technique among senior three students. It is a visual tool that presents information in a hierarchical and interconnected way.
At its core, a mind map starts with a central topic, like a key chapter in history or a complex scientific theory. From this center, branches extend outwards, each representing a sub-topic. For example, in studying a literature work, the main theme forms the center, and branches could include characters, plot development, and literary devices.
One major advantage is that it stimulates creativity. By allowing students to freely associate ideas and make connections, it unlocks new perspectives. Instead of rote memorization, they can understand the relationships between different elements.
Moreover, mind mapping helps with memory retention. The vivid visual layout makes it easier for the brain to recall information. When reviewing for exams, students can quickly glance at their mind maps and retrieve the knowledge stored.
In conclusion, incorporating mind mapping into study routines can enhance learning efficiency, making the challenging senior three curriculum more manageable and engaging.
12. The word “hierarchical” in the second line probably means _____.
A. arranged in a random order B. organized in a step-by-step or ranked order
C. mixed together without any order D. separated completely from each other
13. What can we know about the branches of a mind map when studying a literature work?
A. They only include the names of the authors.
B. They have nothing to do with the plot.
C. They cover aspects like characters, plot development and literary devices.
D. They are used to record the publication date.
14. What is one of the main benefits of mind mapping according to the passage?
A. It makes students study longer hours. B. It helps students remember things better.
C. It forces students to read more books. D. It limits students’ thinking.
15. What is the author’s attitude towards mind mapping?
A. Doubtful. B. Negative. C. Neutral. D. Supportive.
【答案】12. B 13. C 14. B 15. D

Sweat slips down my cheek as I glide (滑动) my fingers through the cool water. I’ve reached the turnaround point of the day’s kayaking (皮划艇) trip. I attempt a shoulder stretch and look around. It’s just me a couple of seabirds, and shining freshwater to the horizon.

D. She recorded the forest sounds on her phone.
6. How did the author feel after her first kayaking trip?
A. Surprised. B. Delighted. C. Nervous. D. Lonely.
7 What does the underlined word “ballooned” in the last paragraph mean?
A. restarted B. transformed C. disappeared D. expanded

They can pose questions, disseminate study hacks, and collaborate on tough assignments.

D They are used to record the publication date.
14. What is one of the main benefits of mind mapping according to the passage?
A. It makes students study longer hours. B. It helps students remember things better.
C. It forces students to read more books. D. It limits students’ thinking.
15. What is the author’s attitude towards mind mapping?
A. Doubtful. B. Negative. C. Neutral. D. Supportive.
