Its influence on the brain is much deeper than any other human experience. Keep on reading to know all about the amazing power of music. A recent study suggests that preterm (早产的) babies appear to experience less pain and feed more when listening to music. A team of experts led by Dr. Manoj Kumar of University of Alberta, Canada, found that music had a beneficial effect on reducing pain for preterm babies experiencing painful medical tests. It also appeared to benefit full-term babies during operations. Many people experiencing brain damage have speech and movement-related problems. Music can help them recover from brain injuries. As a different and effective treatment, doctors often advise such patients to listen to good music to improve the parts of the brain responsible for these two functions. When people with neurological (神经系统的) disorders hear a musical beat,  it helps them to regain a balanced walk. Though music cannot make deafness disappear, it can really stave off the loss of hearing. There was an experiment involving 163 people where 74 were musicians. Participants were asked to pass some listening tests. Musicians heard the sounds better than non-musicians, and this difference got clearer with age. This means that a 70-year-old musician hears better than a 50-year-old non-musician, even in a noisy environment. Besides, music mends a broken heart. It is not about thrown-away love, but about a heart attack. The matter is that music can help people recover from a heart attack or a heart operation by reducing blood pressure, slowing down the heartbeat rate, and reducing anxiety. Listening to the quality music produces positive emotions, improves the movement of blood, and expands blood vessels, thus, promoting quick recovery of the whole cardiovascular (心血管的) system. 4. How does music affect preterm babies? A. It helps reduce their pain. B. It helps develop their potential in music. C. It helps improve their hearing systems. D. It helps repair their cardiovascular systems. 5. What does the underlined phrase “ stave off” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. Lead to. B. Increase. C. Prevent. D. Break into. 6. Why can music mend a broken heart? A. It can help patients recover in a slow way. B. It helps make a person feel optimistic all the time. C. It has a positive effect on human body systems’ work. D. It can help people prevent diseases caused by anxiety. 7. What may be the best title for text? A. Who can benefit from music. B. The best time to listen to music. C. The way to choose quality music. D. How music affects our mind and body. A 5. C 6. C 7. 根据第二段中“A recent study suggests that preterm (早产的) babies appear to experience less pain and feed more when listening to music.(最近的一项研究表明,早产儿在听音乐时似乎会经历更少的疼痛,并且吃得更多)”可知,音乐有助于减少早产儿的疼痛。故选A。 根据划线单词所在的前半句“Though music cannot make deafness disappear(虽然音乐不能使耳聋消失)”以及下文“There was an experiment involving 163 people where 74 were musicians. Participants were asked to pass some listening tests. Musicians heard the sounds better than non-musicians, and this difference got clearer with age.(有一项实验涉及163人,其中74人是音乐家。实验要求参与者通过一些听力测试。结果显示,音乐家比非音乐家更能清晰地听到声音,而且这种差异随着年龄的增长变得更加明显)”可知,音乐虽不能消除失聪,但对听力有积极作用,可推测 stave off意思是 “防止”,即音乐能防止听力丧失。故选C。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“The matter is that music can help people recover from a heart attack or a heart operation by reducing blood pressure, slowing down the heartbeat rate, and reducing anxiety. Listening to the quality music produces positive emotions, improves the movement of blood, and expands blood vessels, thus, promoting quick recovery of the whole cardiovascular (心血管的) system.(问题是,音乐可以通过降低血压、减慢心率和减轻焦虑来帮助人们从心脏病发作或心脏手术中恢复过来。聆听高品质的音乐能产生积极的情绪,促进血液循环,并扩张血管,从而有助于整个心血管系统迅速恢复健康。)”可知,音乐能帮助心脏病患者康复是因为它对人体系统的工作有积极的影响。故选C。 【7题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中“Music is not just a set of sounds and rhythms. Its influence on the brain is much deeper than any other human experience.(音乐不仅仅是一系列的声音和节奏。它对大脑的影响比任何其他人类体验都要深刻得多)”以及全文可知,文章主要讲述了音乐对大脑和身体的深远影响,包括对早产儿、脑损伤患者、听力和心脏健康的益处。可知,D选项“音乐如何影响我们的身心”最符合文章标题。故选D。 C Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), along with Chinese Kungfu and Peking Opera, is one of China’s cultural symbols recognized worldwide. It is a gem of Chinese civilization, and it has also made great contributions to world civilization by improving people’s health and promoting social progress. There used to be a debate in China about whether TCM or Western medicine was better, and arguments can still be heard today. But actually, TCM and Western medicine are two different medical theoretical systems that can not replace each other. In some aspects such as surgery, Western medicine is better than TCM, but in other areas, such as recovery after surgery and treatment of chronic (慢性的) diseases, TCM is more effective. This is why some Chinese hospitals provide both TCM and Western medicine treatments. A combination of both has been accepted by many Chinese people as the most effective treatment. Today, promoting and innovating TCM has become a consensus (共识) in Chinese society. The Chinese government has formulated policies to support the development and innovation of TCM, with a view to establishing a Chinese healthcare development model paying equal attention to both. The supportive policies of the Chinese Government will focus on three aspects. The first is the strengthening of TCM service in medical institutions. The second is to apply Internet technology to TCM management, including setting up a database containing TCM electronic medical records and prescriptions (处方). The third is to give better play to the advantages of TCM, especially acupuncture (针灸) and naprapathy (推拿). The function of TCM in disease prevention and recovery will also be enhanced. As long as TCM keeps its core strengths and respects the rules of development and innovation, it will surely be able to maintain its vitality and bring more benefits to people in China and the world. 8. What advantage does Western medicine have over TCM? A. In some aspects such as surgery, Western medicine is better than TCM. B. It is more effective in treating chronic diseases. C. It is more effective in surgery. D. It is more successful in recovery after surgery. 9. According to paragraph 4, which of the following aspects is NOT included in the Chinese government supports for TCM? A. It calls on the public to support TCM. B. It combines Internet Technology with TCM. C. It makes better use of the advantages of TCM. D. It increases TCM services in hospitals and medical centers. 10. What can be inferred about the author’s opinion on TCM? A. Supportive B. Critical. C. Unclear. D. Skeptical. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. TCM Beats Western Medicine. B. Chinese Government Promotes TCM. C. TCM is One of China’s Cultural Symbols. D. TCM Breaks New Ground. A 9. A 10. A 11. 根据第二段中“In some aspects such as surgery, Western medicine is better than TCM (在某些方面,如外科手术,西医比中医好)”可知,西医在外科手术方面比中医好。故选A项。 根据第四段中“The first is the strengthening of TCM service in medical institutions. The second is to apply Internet technology to TCM management, including setting up a database containing TCM electronic medical records and prescriptions (处方). A top NBA team once used AI to create a special defense strategy that helped them win a champonship. Though no one will say which team did it, experts agree AI made a big difference. Since 2013, special cameras in every NBA arena track players’ movements. These cameras show not just where players run, but even how their elbows and knees move. This helps coaches study moves like “high - quality defensive blocks” — when defenders quickly block shooters. Teams use this data to practice better plans. In the 2010s, teams like Houston, Golden State, and Oklahoma City started using AI first. Now, Oklahoma City leads the league by forcing other teams to make mistakes while avoiding mistakes themselves. AI helps teams pick the best player combinations and find winning strategies. While AI can’t turn weak teams into champions, it can help good teams win a few more games. The data has also changed how basketball is played. Games are faster, and players shoot more three - pointers than ever — double the attempts from 15 years ago. Some players think this makes games less creative, but they admit winning requires following what works. The NBA is testing AI for referees (裁判), too. Soon, cameras might instantly decide who touched a ball last when it goes out of bounds, reducing mistakes. They’re also creating thaumaturgic fan experiences, like video-game-style broadcasts where cartoon players copy real actions. Though teams keep their AI methods secret, experts say basketball will keep changing with technology. As one analyst said, “The next step is turning all this data into simple tips players can use.” From smarter defenses to faster games, AI is making basketball more exciting for everyone! 12. What is the primary role of AI in basketball training? A. Develop effective game plans. B. Design new training equipment. C. Analyze fan behavior for promotions. D. Monitor players’ health during games. 13. Why do players stick to proven strategies? A. To show creativity. B. To increase game speed. C. To reduce personal mistakes. D. To secure victories in matches. 14. What does the underlined word “thaumaturgic” in paragraph 5 mean? A. Simple. B. Exciting. C. Boring. D. Lifelike. 15. What do teams hide about their AI usage? A. Where to set special cameras. B. Game schedule arrangements. C. Specific technical approaches. D. What experts and analysts said. 【答案】12. A 13. D 14. B 15. Though no one will say which team did it, experts agree AI made a big difference.(一支顶级NBA球队曾经利用人工智能创造了一种特殊的防守策略,帮助他们赢得了总冠军。虽然没有人会说哪个团队做到了,但专家们认为人工智能带来了很大的改变)”以及第三段“AI helps teams pick the best player combinations and find winning strategies.(AI可以帮助团队选择最佳的玩家组合并找到获胜策略)”可知,人工智能在篮球训练中的主要作用是制定有效的比赛计划。故选A。 根据第四段“Some players think this makes games less creative, but they admit winning requires following what works.(有些玩家认为这会削弱游戏的创造性,但他们承认获胜需要遵循有效的方法)”可知,玩家会坚持经过验证的策略是为了确保在比赛中获胜。 根据最后一段“Though teams keep their AI methods secret, experts say basketball will keep changing with technology.(尽管球队对他们的人工智能方法保密,但专家们表示,篮球将随着技术的发展而不断变化)”可知,团队在使用AI时隐藏了具体的技术方法。 Sleep Well or Stay Up Late to Study? It's 3 a.m., and there are only eight hours left until an important exam of a piano solo performance. Yet, you still feel unprepared. ____16____ Sleep takes up nearly one-third of our lives, yet it is often overlooked. In reality, sleep is not a waste of time but a vital physiological process. During sleep, the body controls various systems, affecting breathing, circulation, growth, and immunity. Besides, sleep is equally important for the brain, with one-fifth of the blood flow directed to it. ____17____ In the 19th century, psychologist Herman Ebbinghaus proposed the “forgetting curve (曲线)”. ____18____ However, memory can be strengthened through consolidation (巩固). It is a process in which the hippocampus (海马体) plays a vital role. The hippocampus is involved in consolidating declarative memory, like the knowledge needed for exams, but not procedural memory, such as the finger movements required for a piano solo. ____19____ Intense emotions or stress can make memories more deeply impressive, but good sleep is even more important to a good memory. Sleep is divided into four stages. During slow-wave sleep, declarative memories are temporarily stored before being transferred for long-term storage. Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, on the other hand, is associated with the consolidation of procedural memories. Studies have shown that sleeping three hours after memorizing formulas or an hour after practicing the piano is ideal. So, stop sacrificing (牺牲) sleep. ____20____ “Sleep on it first!” truly makes sense. A. It not only affects your health but also your memory conservation. B. At this moment, getting some sleep actually helps the learning. C. The curve accurately shows the different characteristics of our memory. D. It shows that people forget 40% of new information within 20 minutes. E. Many factors have influences on memory consolidation. F. You are so worried about your coming performance that you keep pacing. G. During this period, the brain reorganizes itself, which is essential for memory. B 17. G 18. D 19. E 20. 【16题详解】 上文“It’s 3 a.m., and there are only eight hours left until an important exam of a piano solo performance. Yet, you still feel unprepared.(现在是凌晨3点,距离一场重要的钢琴独奏考试只剩下8个小时了。然而,你仍然觉得没有准备好)”描述了一个面临重要考试但感觉准备不足的情境,B选项“At this moment, getting some sleep actually helps the learning.(此刻,睡一会儿实际上有助于学习)”承接上文,给出应对策略,说明睡觉对学习有帮助,进而引出下文关于睡眠的重要性的探讨。故选B项。 【17题详解】 上文“Besides, sleep is equally important for the brain, with one-fifth of the blood flow directed to it.(此外,睡眠对大脑同样重要,五分之一的血液流向大脑)”强调了睡眠对大脑的重要性,G选项“During this period, the brain reorganizes itself, which is essential for memory.(在此期间,大脑会自我重组,这对记忆至关重要)”进一步解释了睡眠期间大脑的活动及其对记忆的重要性,上下文语意连贯。故选G项。 【18题详解】 上文“In the 19th century, psychologist Herman Ebbinghaus proposed the “forgetting curve (曲线)”.(19世纪,心理学家赫尔曼·艾宾浩斯提出了‘遗忘曲线’)”介绍了遗忘曲线的提出,D选项“It shows that people forget 40% of new information within 20 minutes.(它表明人们在20分钟内会忘记40%的新信息)”具体说明了遗忘曲线的内容,即人们在短时间内会忘记大量新信息,上下文语意连贯。故选D项。 【19题详解】 下文“Intense emotions or stress can make memories more deeply impressive, but good sleep is even more important to a good memory.(强烈的情绪或压力可以让记忆更加深刻,但良好的睡眠对良好的记忆更重要)”提到了影响记忆巩固的因素,E选项“Many factors have influences on memory consolidation.(许多因素都会影响记忆的巩固)”引出下文,说明有许多因素会影响记忆的巩固,包括情绪、压力和睡眠等,上下文语意连贯。故选E项。 【20题详解】 上文“Studies have shown that sleeping three hours after memorizing formulas or an hour after practicing the piano is ideal. 故选A项。 I grew up in a small coastal town where hurricanes were a constant threat. My good friend Anoush was a running enthusiast. So he advised me to lose weight by running and he promised to accompany me to run. Seven years later, I got more serious about running. And I dreamed to participate in Boston Marathon. Anoush wanted to attend the same marathon with me. Every day we spared our time to practise hard, during which time Anoush gave me much professional guidance and encouragement. And then one day, both of us qualified for the 2017 Boston Marathon. We were excited but unfortunately, several weeks before the marathon, we had a serious quarrel. I didn’t talk with him anymore. The day came. Anoush and I stood at the starting line. He said, “Good luck! You will certainly finish the marathon.” Hearing his words, I looked at him, saying, “It’s none of your business.” Then we started running. Soon, I passed Anoush. But I struggled in the heat starting at mile 16. I felt most of my oxygen went to the muscle in my legs and less in my brain, which made me feel a bit light-headed and dizzy (眩晕的). I continually encouraged myself, “Just get to the finish, run bold, and you will win.” But all phrases that I say to myself didn’t work. Gradually I felt out of breath and had to slow down my pace. As I ran down the famous last stretch of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street, I fell down on the ground. Just then, I felt that someone picked me up. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Anoush and I crossed the finish line, the audience at present applauded. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】  Just then, I felt that someone picked me up. Turing around, I found it was Anoush who helped me up. A wave of embarrassment swept over me and I was even at a loss at that moment. “Just stand up and go on to run. I will keep you company.” Anoush encouraged me with a big smile on his face. Looking into his faithful eyes, I realized that he was not cheating me and that he was really helping me. He just forgot the quarrel between us. I stood up and began to run with him. When Anoush and I crossed the finish line, the audience at present applauded. Without any preparation, I was hugged by Anoush tightly. Suddenly, I felt regretful to break up with him. Then, I mustered up my courage to say sorry to Anoush. “Thank you and I am so sorry to you, my dear friend. I should not have quarreled with you.” “Just forget it. You know, we are good friends.” Anoush said. I felt more than happy and lucky to have such a friend in my life. C Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), along with Chinese Kungfu and Peking Opera, is one of China’s cultural symbols recognized worldwide. D How AI Helps Basketball Teams Play Smarter Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing how basketball teams train and play. Sleep Well or Stay Up Late to Study? So, stop sacrificing (牺牲) sleep. ____20____ “Sleep on it first!” truly makes sense. A. It not only affects your health but also your memory conservation. B. Just then I felt that someone picked me up. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Anoush and I crossed the finish line, the audience at present applauded. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
