(2025·福建厦门质量检测)Cordero is the farm manager at Ollin Farms, not far from Boulder,Colorado. The locally grown vegetables on the farm aren't just pretty.“We play an important role in public health nutrition programs,” says Cordero's dad,Mark Guttridge, who started this farm with his wife,Kena,17 years ago.
At a meeting with about a dozen local farmers, two state representatives, and the Colorado officials of agriculture,Guttridge explains how Boulder county has made creative investments in his farm that could be spread to the state or even national level. Before the meeting,Guttridge shows them one of those investments.
A dozen sheep, which Guttridge raises for wool, feed on root vegetables like radishes that have been leftover for them.“So these guys are out fertilizing the vegetable field,” Guttridge laughs.“They'll be out here a couple more weeks, and then we'll get our next summer vegetables planted right there.” Around the field is a special moveable type of fencing that Ollin Farms bought using financial aid from the Boulder County Sustainability Office. It allows them to move the sheep from one field to another, fertilizing as they go.The goal of these investments is “really building up our soil health”,he explains.“That relates directly to the nutrient quality of the foodhealthy soil grows healthy food.”
The county also makes an effort to get that healthy food out to different communities to boost public health. That's where the Boulder County Public Health department comes in.It created a coupon program to give discounts to people buying fruits and vegetables from Ollin Farms.Nutrition incentive programs, like those public health fruit and vegetable coupons, are spreading all over the country, and most are funded through the federal farm bill.Amy Yaroch, executive director at the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition, says “It's a triple win. It's basically good for the consumers who live in that particular community because they're getting the healthy food,it's good for the farmer, and then it's good for the economy.”

(2025·山东日照模拟)More than 50 million people in Asia,Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere follow pastoralism(游牧) as a way of life. The practice has survived for so long because it is designed to change with the environment.Pastoralists move with animals to find new lands and water, leaving behind eaten plants to regrow.
Mongolia is well known for its pastoralism.Agvaantogtokh and his family are herders(牧民).On horseback,he rides with nearly a thousand sheep and goats to help them find water.Sometimes,he and his wife,Nurmaa, stop to help struggling young ones, weak after a difficult winter.
For families like Agvaantogtokh's,pastoralism is more than a profession. It is a cultural identity that connects generations. At its heart is the human connection to animals. While they consider the animals as their property, they also see them as living beings working alongside them.
Researchers say herders believe in “animal agency”.Agvaantogtokh lets his animals choose the food they eat and where they find water. To him, restricting an animal's movement and asking it to eat the same thing each day is like putting a person in prison.
In Mongolia, weather extremes are a part of life. When Agvaantogtokh thinks about climate change,he is concerned about humans and animals.Continuous dry and warm weather affects Mongolia.Since 1940,the government says, average temperatures have risen 2.2 degrees Celsius. To keep their practice alive, pastoralists seek ways to modernize. In Mongolia,Lkhaebum recently began using a small vehicle to more easily search for horses. The family uses electricity and has other technologies including a TV and a washing machine. They also use a cellphone to follow the weather and access social media where herders share information.
One of the biggest threats to pastoralism comes from within.Nurmaa and Agvaantogtokh's 18yearold daughter studies medicine.Their son spoke about becoming a herder when he was a child, but not anymore.“I won't regret anything if my child won't be a herder,” Nurmaa said.“I would like them to do what they desire to do.”
5.What contributes to the survival of pastoralism?
A.Huge pastoralist populations.
B.Adaptation to the environment.
C.Herders'desire to travel to new places.
D.Slow development of modernization.
根据第一段中“The practice has survived for so long because it is designed to change with the environment.Pastoralists move with animals to find new lands and water, leaving behind eaten plants to regrow.”
6.What does pastoralism mean to Agvaantogtokh?
A.The distinct identity of animals.
B.A poorlypaid profession.
C.An outofdate lifestyle.
D.The bond between man and animals.
根据第三段“For families like Agvaantogtokh's,pastoralism is more than a profession. It is a cultural identity that connects generations. At its heart is the human connection to animals. While they consider the animals as their property, they also see them as living beings working alongside them.”
7.What does “animal agency” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A.Animals'living in cages.
B.Animals'eating the same thing.
C.Animals'struggling in shelters.
D.Animals'moving around freely.
根据第四段“Researchers say herders believe in ‘animal agency’.Agvaantogtokh lets his animals choose the food they eat and where they find water. To him, restricting an animal's movement and asking it to eat the same thing each day is like putting a person in prison.”
8.What is a big challenge for pastoralism?
A.Modern technology.
B.No government support.
C.Young people's disinterest in it.
D.Lack of information exchange.

(2025·重庆大联考)The state of Maine is famous for its delicious wild blueberries. The blueberries grow well on barren mountaintops,in abandoned fields, along rural roadsides or where most other plants don't.They are also decidedly native as they have been growing in this landscape for more than 10,000 years.
At David Dickey's small farm, farmers harvest blueberries, packing a burst of sweetness into tiny purple package. They're also harvesting sunshine.A grid (格子) of solar panels stands a few feet above four hectares (10 acres) of the land. The electricity these generate powers a few hundred nearby homes.Under and around these panels are extending fields of the low, thick blueberry bushes.
Solar panels generate electric power without sending out the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that fossil fuels release as they're burned.Fixing solar panels on farms helps solve another major problem: finding the space to collect enough sunlight to produce enough supply of electricity.
This concept is called “Agrivoltaics”.The word combines “agriculture” with “photovoltaics (光伏)”. Photovoltaic materials—such as solar panels—generate electric current from sunlight.
Growing crops requires hard work—often generating only a low income.Agrivoltaic projects can benefit farmers by giving them a second crop: electric power. Also, farmers can pick up some extra cash by renting their land to power companies that will fix their own solar panels on the site.
At the University of Maine in Orono,Dr.Calderwood focuses on finding ways to grow better berries. Her work includes studying how the bushes can be planted to produce delicious berries despite the shade cast by the solar panels at Dickey's farm.
“Although the idea behind Agrivoltaics has been around for decades,it's really just exploded over the last few years.Around the world, farmers and solar companies are working together to combine farming with the production of electricity,” Calderwood says.
9.How is the second paragraph developed?
A.By giving descriptions.
B.By making predictions.
C.By making comparisons.
D.By offering suggestions.
故选A。
10.How do the solar panels make a difference in generating electricity?
A.They take up less space.
B.They produce no pollution.
C.They block out direct sunlight.
D.They avoid the waste of electricity.
根据第三段“Solar panels generate electric power without sending out the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that fossil fuels release as they're burned.(太阳能电池板发电时不会像化石燃料燃烧时那样释放二氧化碳和其他温室气体)”可知,太阳能电池板发电不会产生污染。故选B。
11.What is the main advantage of Agrivoltaic projects?
A.Increased agricultural productivity.
B.Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
C.Additional source of income for farmers.
D.Promotion of sustainable farming practices.
根据第五段“Agrivoltaic projects can benefit farmers by giving them a second crop: electric power. Also, farmers can pick up some extra cash by renting their land to power companies that will fix their own solar panels on the site.(光伏发电项目可以给农民带来第二种作物:电力。此外,农民还可以通过把土地租给电力公司来获得一些额外的现金,电力公司将在现场安装他们自己的太阳能电池板)”可知,“农业光伏”项目使农民有了额外的收入来源。故选C。
12.What can we learn about Agrivoltaic projects?
A.They are a creative idea.
B.They are in a growing trend.
C.They are only useful to farmers.
D.They are a traditional farming.
根据最后一段“Although the idea behind Agrivoltaics has been around for decades,it's really just exploded over the last few years.(‘农业光伏’背后的理念已经存在了几十年,在过去几年才真正盛行)”可知,“农业光伏”正处于一个不断增长的趋势。故选B。
