Over the years I tried every diet you could think of. I tried personal trainers and fitness camps. The result was always the same — I’ d lose 30-50 pounds; then gain back 40 pounds. I tried C25K(Couch to 5K) so many times because my husband enjoyed running and I tried to like it as well. I hated it and couldn’t help but be reminded of my school days and collecting popsicle(冰棒) sticks for each circle(I was always last). More time went by and the only activity I could bring myself to do in public was Zumba. February 2017 was a game-changing time in my life. Something clicked after an embarrassing moment that involved burpees(立卧撑) in front of a group at my kids’ school event. The next day I asked my husband if he would join me in figuring out my health.(At this time I was 280 pounds.) After losing 15 pounds, I decided to give C25K one more shot(after more than a dozen failed times). In June 2017, I ran for five minutes without stopping. By the end of July I ran my first mile. Reaching the mile was huge in my world because I had built up a mile as if it were a marathon. By December 2017, I completed C25K successfully! A few months later I ran my first race, Texas Ragnar relay. After that, I completed my first half marathon. I caught the running bug and by July I hit a huge milestone — 100 pounds down! After the half marathon, my husband and I were determined to continue running. We kept training for no event in particular. We needed more support for what we were planning — a full marathon. 24. What might C25K be? A. A fitness course. B. A marathon event. C. A school game. D. A running program. 25. What made the author determined to restart running? A. Her husband’s advice. B. Her terrible overall health. C. Her Zumba class experience. D. Her burpee embarrassment. 26. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase in paragraph 3? A. Fell in love with running. B. Joined a running club. C. Showed a gift for running. D. Found running partners. 27. Where can the text be read? A. A lecture for fund-raising. B. A report from a running club. C. A forum for running stories. D. A speech about running benefits. C Given the ability of AI to imitate humans’ problem-solving ability, it’s not surprising that many people are turning to AI-powered fitness coaches to help them plan exercise routines, track their nutrition and set goals for losing weight. Sridhar Narayanan, a professor of marketing at Stanford Graduate School of Business, said, “I am interested in weight loss apps. They are less costly than hiring human coaches. By tapping into users’ private health data like goal setting and food intake logs, AI can give guidance to users. However, I am not sure about their effects. Given that weight loss journeys may bring emotions like shame, anxiety and frustration, can technology be as effective as a live person in helping customers in this aspect?” To find out more, Narayanan compared data from customers who only used weight loss apps with those who used AI paired with human coaches. He found that on average, people using weight loss apps lost about 1.5% of their starting body weight, compared to 2.7% for those with AI-plus human plans. “To explain the result, I also looked into the users. Customers who picked human coaching tended to set higher weight loss goals and logged their weight and food intake more frequently. Customers may also feel more responsible for their actions when being supervised(监督) by a live person. It takes more efforts and courage to cancel a training session than to ignore an AI-generated notification on your phone. Being firm and tough may be more effective than offering emotional comforts in terms of being a fitness coach,” Narayanan said. More research into human coaching versus AI is likely on the horizon. Next, Narayanan will focus on app users who are tracking and getting coaching for serious health issues like diabetes(糖尿病). Finding a way to measure how effectively technology helps customers deal with their overall health could make AI-driven health monitoring more valuable for the tech industry. People are paying more attention to their health and experts in fitness training are rare and lacking. The demand for AI coaching is growing and every technology company is trying very hard to cut a slice of the cake. 28. According to Paragraph 2, what did Narayanan think of weight loss apps? A. They are more expensive. B. They lack emotional comfort. C. They may give wrong guidance. D. They may give away private information. 29. Why are AI-plus-human plans effective? A. Human coaches can offer advice on users’ diet. B. Human coaches can help users set achievable goals. C. Human coaches are more responsible for users’ plans. D. Human coaches can provide strict guidance and supervision. 30. What can we learn about the market of AI coaching in the last paragraph? A. AI coaching is less effective than human coaching for serious health conditions. B. Tech companies will be quite interested in expanding their presence in the market. C. The demand for AI coaching is declining as fitness experts become more available. D. Measuring technology’s impact on health is unnecessary for tech industry’s success. 31. What is the best title for the text? A. Technology can monitor human health B. AI-powered apps can help you lose weight C. AI-powered fitness coaches have become popular D. Combining human and AI-powered coaching works better D In the ever-changing world of health trends, the claim(声称) that green tea is a powerful fat-burner has caught the public’s fancy. Driven by marketers and the spread of information in the media, this idea has become a hot topic. Being the curious cat I am, I reached out to two experts for their thoughts: computer scientist Chris Johnson, who’s really good at seeing through false claims, and physicist Philip Taylor, who bases his ideas on research. Green tea has a long-standing reputation for health benefits, but the recent craze about its fat-burning abilities has taken it to new heights. Health magazines and online articles are full of stories and supposed scientific evidence suggesting that a few cups of green tea a day can speed up metabolism(新陈代谢) and burn fat effortlessly. However, Johnson warns that such claims are often not based on scientific research. “The green-tea-for-fat-loss industry is a classic case of people just following the crowd,” he says. Companies are going along with the trend, making grand promises without scientific backing to support them. This over-promotion of green tea as a fat-burner is risky. Consumers, hoping for a quick and easy way to lose weight, may waste their money on ineffective products. When these products fail to deliver, it can lead to disappointment and a loss of trust in the health and wellness industry. Taylor, though he knows what’s going on, has a more balanced view. From his research, he thinks there might be a little bit of truth to the claim that green tea can aid in fat loss, but only when combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise. So, does green tea really burn fat? Well, it’s not a simple yes or no. There might be some small effects on your metabolism, but it’s definitely not a magic pill for losing weight. As consumers, we should be careful about these claims and only believe information that’s based on real evidence. In the end, a healthy and lasting way to lose weight involves proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and a realistic understanding of what different foods and drinks can do for our bodies. 32. Why did the author ask two experts for their thoughts? A. To satisfy his curiosity. B. To find new consumers. C. To test a theory. D. To join the crowd. 33. Which may Johnson agree with about the green-tea-for-fat-loss industry? A. It does the trick for people’s health. B. It lacks reliable evidence to support the claims. C. It encourages consumers to buy fitness products. D. It transforms people’s understanding of getting into shape. 34. What can we infer from the last paragraph? A. Green tea can be made into a magic pill. B. Green tea is the first choice for weight reduction. C. Proper diet and exercise contribute to weight loss. D. It’s easy to tell the weight-loss effect of green tea. 35. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Does Green Tea Really Burn Fat? B. Does Green Tea Remain a Mystery? C. Green Tea: A Magic Weight-Loss Solution D. Green Tea: A New Focus of Scientific Research Mistakes I Made While Trying To Lose Weight In this article, I’m going to share with you several mistakes I made on my quest to lose weight. I started to skip(略过) breakfast. Most people trying to lose weight believe simply eating less and skipping meals can help get rid of the fat. 36 And in fact, breakfast is easily burnt throughout the day. I bought diet food. When I went shopping, I always looked for the foods marked diet, low-fat, healthy, etc. 37 I bought these foods because in my mind it meant I could buy more. I would totally pay no attention to the amount of the food. If you eat too much any food, you’re not doing yourself any favors. 38 Eating salad is a good way of keeping my calorie intake down. But I found that only a moment after my meals, I was looking for more food. I learnt that I was better off eating a balanced meal with few more calories than simply eating a salad and snacking afterwards. I was too awkward to go to the gym. Joining a gym was one of the hardest things I ever did. I was always worried that people in the gym would be staring at me and talking about me. I really thought I was too fat to join. My advice is to join a gym! 39 I set my goals too high. Setting long-term goals is great, but these goals always seem too far off. You need to set smaller, more reachable goals. 40 Set yourself weekly and monthly goals. Once you meet one short-term goal, set a new one for next week. A. I thought I’d always be fat. B. I promise you’ll be glad you do. C. But it doesn’t keep you full for long. D. I started eating salads as main meals. E. But I was buying these foods for the wrong reason. F. So you can achieve them now and then and cheer yourself up. G. However, if so, you’re much more likely to eat more for lunch. At my heaviest I weighed 370 pounds. Most of the time, I avoided parties with my friends, afraid of how ugly they would think I looked. One day, I found a slim girl on TV was so attractive that I wanted to look like her. If you will be traveling out of Ontario at the time of your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. We will reschedule your appointment.( 我们的医疗保健专业人员只能为身在安大略省的学生提供护理。 和文章最后一段“For more detailed information, please click here.(更多详细信息,请点击这里。)” D。 B Hi there! My name is Erica. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old. At my peak, I weighed 320 pounds. D 25. D 26. A 27. 根据第一段中“I tried C25K(Couch to 5K) so many times because my husband enjoyed running and I tried to like it as well. I hated it and couldn’t help but be reminded of my school days and collecting popsicle(冰棒) sticks for each circle(I was always last).(我多次尝试C25K(从沙发到5公里),因为我丈夫喜欢跑步,我也试图喜欢它。 根据第二段中“February 2017 was a game changing time in my life. Something clicked after an embarrassing moment that involved burpees(立卧撑) in front of a group at my kids’ school event. The next day I asked my husband if he would join me in figuring out my health.(At this time I was 280 pounds.)(2017年2月是我生命中改变游戏规则的时刻。 根据划线短语所在句“After that, I completed my first half marathon. I caught the running bug and by July I hit a huge milestone — 100 pounds down!(在那之后,我完成了我的第一个半程马拉松。 故选A项。 27. My name is Erica. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old. At my peak, I weighed 320 pounds. Over the years I tried every diet you could think of.(大家好! Combining human and AI-powered coaching works better 【答案】28. B 29. D 30. B 31. Narayanan“Given that weight loss journeys may bring emotions like shame, anxiety and frustration, can technology be as effective as a live person in helping customers in this aspect?(考虑到减肥之旅可能会带来羞耻、焦虑和沮丧等情绪,技术能否像真人一样在这方面有效地帮助客户呢?)” 根据文章第四段““To explain the result, I also looked into the users. Being firm and tough may be more effective than offering emotional comforts in terms of being a fitness coach,” Narayanan said.(“为了解释这一结果,我还研究了用户。 根据最后一段“People are paying more attention to their health and experts in fitness training are rare and lacking. The demand for AI coaching is growing and every technology company is trying very hard to cut a slice of the cake.(人们越来越关注自己的健康,而从事健身训练的专家却少之又少。 D。 D In the ever-changing world of health trends, the claim(声称) that green tea is a powerful fat-burner has caught the public’s fancy. Green Tea: A New Focus of Scientific Research 【答案】32. A 33. B 34. C 35. 根据第一段中“Being the curious cat I am, I reached out to two experts for their thoughts(出于我的好奇心,我联系了两位专家听取他们的意见)”可知,作者询问两位专家的意见是为了满足自己的好奇心。故选A。 33. 根据第三段中“However, Johnson warns that such claims are often not based on scientific research.(然而,Johnson警告说,这些说法通常没有科学研究依据)”以及“Companies are going along with the trend, making grand promises without scientific backing to support them.(公司顺应这一趋势,在没有科学依据支持的情况下做出重大承诺)”可知,Johnson认为绿茶减肥产业缺乏可靠证据支持其说法。故选B。 34. 根据最后一段中“In the end, a healthy and lasting way to lose weight involves proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and a realistic understanding of what different foods and drinks can do for our bodies.(最后,健康而持久的减肥方法包括适当的营养、定期的体育活动,以及对不同食物和饮料对我们身体的作用有现实的理解)”可以推断,合理的饮食和锻炼有助于减肥。故选C。 35. A选项“Does Green Tea Really Burn Fat?(绿茶真的能燃烧脂肪吗?)” 故选A。 Mistakes I Made While Trying To Lose Weight In this article, I’m going to share with you several mistakes I made on my quest to lose weight. G 37. E 38. D 39. B 40. 36. 根据前文“Most people trying to lose weight believe simply eating less and skipping meals can help get rid of the fat.(大多数试图减肥的人认为,只要少吃和不吃饭就可以帮助摆脱脂肪)”再根据本文标题“Mistakes I Made While Trying To Lose Weight(我在减肥过程中犯的错误)”是说的作者犯的错误,所以接下来应该讲述不吃早餐对减肥的坏处,所以G项(然而,如果是这样的话,你午餐很可能会吃得更多)符合文意。故选G项。 37. 根据本段首句“I bought diet food.(我买了减肥食品)”可知,本段主要讲述了买减肥食品是错误的,再根据前文“When I went shopping, I always looked for the foods marked diet, low-fat, healthy, etc.(当我去购物时,我总是寻找标有减肥、低脂、健康等字样的食品)”以及后文“I bought these foods because in my mind it meant I could buy more. I would totally pay no attention to the amount of the food.(我买这些食物是因为在我看来,这意味着我可以买更多。 38. 分析设空可知,空处位于段首,是本段的中心句,讲述自己犯的另一个错误,所以根据后文“Eating salad is a good way of keeping my calorie intake down. But I found that only a moment after my meals, I was looking for more food.(吃沙拉是降低卡路里摄入的好方法。 39. 根据本段首句“I was too awkward to go to the gym.(我太尴尬了,不敢去健身房)”可知,本段主要讲我不敢去健身房的错误,再根据前文“My advice is to join a gym!(我的建议是加入健身房)”可推知,接下来应该讲述这么做的好处,所以B项(我保证你会很高兴的)符合文意。故选B项。 40. At my heaviest I weighed 370 pounds. I came to believe that I could do nothing about my 43 . When I was 50, my weight problem began to affect me 44 . I didn’t want to live the rest of my life with this extra weight any more. That year, I 45 a seminar where we were asked to create a project that would touch the world. A seminar leader shared her 46 story — she had not only lost 125 pounds, but also raised $25,000 for homeless children. 47 by her story, I created the As We Heal(痊愈), the World Heals 48 . My goal was to lose 150 pounds in one year and raise $50,000 in support of a movement founded 30 years ago to end hunger. This combination of healing myself and healing the word 49 me as the perfect solution. As I began my own personal weight program, I was filled with the fear that I would 50 the same difficulties that beat me before. While the 51 hung over my head, there were also signs that I was headed down the right path. I sent letters to everyone I knew, telling them about my project. It worked perfectly. Donations began 52 in from hundreds of people. Of course, I also took some practical steps to lose weight. I consulted with a physician(内科医生), I hired a fitness coach, and I began to eat small and 53 meals. My fund-raising focus also gave me new motivation to exercise 54 . A year later, I 55 my goal: I lost 150 pounds and raised $50,000! I feel that I’ve been given a second life to devote to something that is meaningful and enormous. 41. I have work in Spanish class that I can’t miss!” My mother gave me a sad look. “You have to get a checkup(身体检查),” she explained. I screamed, “NO!” My father pulled me over to the couch. “Alison,” my father said in a tone that was quiet but powerful. “You’re in the state of malnutrition(营养不良). And you know that. You can have all in the world, but if you don’t have your health, you have nothing.” For some reason, I believed him. I hadn’t wanted it to be this way. I was a girl who didn’t like doing sports but was fond of snack food. I weighed 50kg at my age of 14. Most of the time, I avoided parties with my friends, afraid of how ugly they would think I looked. One day, I found a slim girl on TV was so attractive that I wanted to look like her. I forced myself to do exercise and started going on a diet for a good-looking body shape. During the summer, I did weekly weigh-ins(称重) and kept a strict diet. I memorized the calories of almost everything that I may eat. My only goal was to lose weight. Later, when it became too cold to run outside, I restricted my calories even more to make up for not being able to burn them. Gradually I lost my weight a lot. But things turned out to be worse. My hands were especially dry, peeling and wrinkled. My sister called them old people’s hands. Once, I went shopping with my mom. While we waited in line to pay for our items, I felt I was going to faint(昏厥). I felt dizzy and standing was getting harder and harder. As my mom tried to figure out which exit we should go through, she noticed my pale face. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Incidents(发生的事情) like the one in the store were in my thoughts as my parents had a talk with me that morning—the morning when I refused to see the doctor regularly. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 As my mom tried to figure out which exit we should go through, she noticed my pale face. “Alison,” her voice sounded alarmed, but also far away. “You look like you’re going to pass out. Are you OK?” I couldn’t answer with more than a mumble. My mom was suddenly speeding things up, taking charge and locating the nearest exit. She told me to wait inside. She soon drove the car over and took me to the hospital. Later, I was told this was a symptom of malnutrition. I was told to visit the doctor twice a week. Incidents(发生的事情) like the one in the store were in my thoughts as my parents had a talk with me that morning—the morning when I refused to see the doctor regularly. I finally decided to see the doctor instead of going to school. Dad was right—without health, nothing would I own, including that morning’s important exams or Spanish class. Before, I suffered a lot from my eating disorder and weakness. Now, I put my wants of a healthy body above the needs of a slim girl. Remembering the doctor’s advice, I add healthy foods to my meals and keep doing proper sports. I become both happy and strong. 词汇激活 行为类 ①昏迷,晕厥:faint/pass out/ lose consciousness ②告知:tell/inform ③决定:decide/determine/make a decision 情绪类 ①开心的,快乐的:happy/delighted/joyful ②惊恐的:alarmed/frightened 【点睛】 [高分句型1]Later, I was told this was a symptom of malnutrition.(运用了省略that的宾语从句) [高分句型2]I finally decided to see the doctor instead of going to school.(运用了动名词作宾语) [高分句型3]Remembering the doctor’s advice, I add healthy foods to my meals and keep doing proper sports.(运用了现在分词作状语) ( 19 / 21 )学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$听力考试正式开始。Are you going to work today? Looking forward to hearing from you!                                                                                                                                                                                        Yours, Li Hua 第二节 (满分25分) As my mom tried to figure out which exit we should go through, she noticed my pale face.
