New rules and behavior standards for middle school students came out in March. The middle school is going to use a new way to decide who the top students are. The best students won’t only have high marks. They should not dye (染) their hair, smoke or drink because they are students. The following are some of the new rules.
Have you ever copied someone else’s work in an exam? Don’t do that again! That’s not something an honest student should do.
Do more at school. Good students love animals and care for other people. April is Bird-loving Month in China. Is your school doing anything to celebrate it? You should join! And you can learn more about animals and how to protect them. Be friendly to the people around you. Try to think of others, not only yourself.
Be open to new ideas. Do you think people can live on the moon? Maybe you’ll find another earth someday. Don’t look down on new ideas. Everyone’s ideas are important. You should welcome them, because new ideas make life better for everyone.
Protect yourself. Has someone ever taken money from one of your classmates? Don’t let it happen to you. If you have to go home late, you should let your parents know.

第三部分 书面表达(共两节, 满分30分)
第一节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分, 满分10分)
In modern society, living without money sounds almost impossible. However, that’s exactly what an Australian couple from a big city has been doing for nearly a whole year.
Rachel Newby, 25, and Liam Culbertson, 27, have come up with creative ways of making it through the year without spending any money. They built themselves a new house. The house was made of used wood and recycled materials. They grew their own food, and at times they didn’t hesitate(犹豫) to look for food in the dustbins(垃圾箱).
But this year has been quite difficult. The soil (土壤)in their garden was too poor to grow vegetables. The climate there was terrible as well. They kept moving their home till they finally lived in a 2. 5-square-meter(平方米)house. They collected cold rainwater to take a shower. What’s worse, they had to share a toilet with the rest of the community.
Even though they had no jobs, they didn’t have a lot of free time to waste. They spent most of the day working for local farmers planting vegetables and picking fruit so that they could earn their next meal. They had five ducks that could provide them with fresh eggs. But when there wasn’t enough food for them, they had to go to look for food in the dustbins.
Not everyone is brave enough to do this. But they really made it work and they felt happy.

【答案】例文
Dear Peter,
You must be excited about coming to China soon. Let me give you some suggestions and advice about Chinese customs and other things.
Firstly, regarding table manners, it’s impolite to point your chopsticks at others. Instead, it’s polite to offer a toast to the elders. This shows respect and is a common practice in Chinese culture.
When it comes to house rules, you’re supposed to take off your shoes before entering someone’s home. This is a sign of respect and cleanliness. Additionally, you’re not supposed to make loud noises, as it’s considered rude.
While visiting school, you’d better keep quiet and avoid walking around freely. This is to maintain a respectful and focused learning environment.
When going out with people, you should always be on time and respect others’ opinions. Punctuality is highly valued in Chinese culture, and showing respect for others’ views is essential for building good relationships.
I hope these tips will help you navigate Chinese customs more comfortably. I’m looking forward to your visit and would be delighted if you could come to my home for dinner.
Yours,
Wang Wei

When middle age comes, people like to listen to jazz and classical. They also like country, folk, and blues, “During this period of life, many people often feel tired because of their work and family, and there is a requirement for relaxing and emotive (动情的) music.” said Jason Smith, a research member.
You must be thinking: “Aren’t there old people who still love rock music?” Of course there are.
