阅读理解 A (2025·河南南阳六校高三第三次联合测试)Often,there is a false idea that one must be “intheknow” to truly appreciate artworks. However, fine art opens the door to everyone.Learning how to look at and understand artworks requires us to take the time to view, identify and think. Look at the Art As the first step,it's necessary to take a moment to identify the artwork's general features: ·Is it a painting, sculpture or craftwork? ·Does it appear chaotic(混乱的) or organized? ·Are the colors bright or soft? Identify the Art and Artist Knowing when or how the artwork was made and learning something about the artist can reveal more context. We all know the famous painting Guernica is a masterpiece created by Picasso in 1937.However,if we can find out Picasso composed the painting to reflect a bombing during the Spanish Civil War,we'll know more about its antiwar meaning. Even if the historical context of an artwork is not obvious, knowing the year of its creation offers more context. Think About the Meaning Use what you observed in the first two steps to think about meanings the artwork could have. Consider what the title, the subjects,or the symbols meant to the artist when he or she created the artwork. What do the colors say about the artist, and how do they apply to the subjects in the art? For example, the owls in Lebo's works represent wisdom, but why are they so brightly colored? In addition, ask how the art makes you feel. Many artists not only have specific meanings behind their art,but also encourage viewers to come up with their own explanations.Still, every explanation is not automatically correct, which is why the techniques described above are helpful in finding clues. The next time you're admiring a work of art, keep these techniques in mind, and its meaning may unfold before your eyes. 1.What is the first step when viewing art? A.Doing some research on the artist. B.Being “intheknow” about the work. C.Identifying the work's general features. D.Knowing the year of an artwork's creation. 2.When thinking about the meaning of an artwork, what should you do? A.Explain it freely. B.Choose a title for it. C.Describe it to the viewers. D.Ask how it makes you feel. 3.Who is the passage probably written for? A.Museum staff. B.Gallery visitors. C.Professional artists. D.Exhibition organizers. 根据Look at the Art部分中的“As the first step,it's necessary to take a moment to identify the artwork's general features(作为第一步,有必要花点时间来确定艺术品的一般特征)”可知,看艺术品的第一步是确定作品的一般特征。 根据Think About the Meaning部分中的“In addition, ask how the art makes you feel.(此外,询问艺术给你的感觉如何。)” B。 B On November 7,Lewis Pugh completed a onekilometre swim in the freezing waters of King Edward Cove, off South Georgia in Antarctica. He was wearing only his swimming glasses, cap and speedos! Pugh is an advocate for our oceans and seas, working to protect these ecosystems with their large diversity of marine(海洋的) life. When asked why he doesn't wear a wetsuit,Lewis says,“I ask world leaders to do everything they can to protect our oceans.Sometimes the steps they need to take are difficult and unpopular. If I'm asking them to be courageous,I must also be.Swimming in a wetsuit would not send the right message.” It took Pugh about 19 minutes to complete the onekilometre swim in Antarctica where the water averaged about 1.6 degrees Celsius(摄氏度).He says that his body can only tolerate about 20 minutes in the freezing waters before it starts shutting down.As he swims, his body temperature steadily drops, which in turn causes his muscle(肌肉) control to drop, slowing him down. When he is done with his swim, his support team rushes him to a hot shower and it takes almost an hour for his body temperature to return to normal. Doctors and Pugh caution that one must receive months of training to swim in such cold waters.Even expert swimmers who are unused to freezing waters can drown within minutes because of the physical shock experienced by the body.Pugh says he trained for six months before this swim. This is not the first time that Lewis has swum in dangerous conditions. In 2007,he swam one kilometre in the North Pole to draw attention to the melting Arctic ice due to climate change. In 2015,he swam in the Bay of Whales in Antarctica's Ross Sea as part of his successful campaign to help set up a marine reserve there. 4.Why did Lewis Pugh swim without a wetsuit? A.To swim faster. B.To show his bravery. C.To build up his body. D.To win public attention. 5.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to? A.His body. B.The water. C.His body temperature. D.The water temperature. 6.What's Pugh's advice about swimming in freezing waters? A.One must be fully prepared. B.One should be expert at swimming. C.One should be ready to take on challenges. D.One must be used to longdistance swimming. 7.What may be the best title for the text? A.Lewis Pugh:Swimming for a Cause B.How to Survive a Swim in Cold Waters C.How to Prepare for Extreme Swimming D.Lewis Pugh:Achieving the Impossible 【语篇解读】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第二段中的“If I'm asking them to be courageous,I must also be.Swimming in a wetsuit would not send the right message.” 故选A。 根据第四段中的“Doctors and Pugh caution that one must receive months of training to swim in such cold waters.” 故选A。 Life is full of ups and downs. You must understand that you will sometimes __1__ in things and it is okay when that happens. To be exact, the artists would mix eggs into their paints to create a thing called “egg tempera (蛋彩画)”.This technique dates back to ancient Egypt and can be found on many of the paintings from the Old Masters such as Botticelli's The Birth of Venus. Scientists study the elements of their paintings and find that there are added proteins (蛋白质) to the works of art.The reason for that had eluded us for a long time until a new study was published, which might tell us why. To reach their findings, the study's authors drew on analysis of Old Masters' paintings such as Botticelli's The Lamentation of Christ and da Vinci's Madonna of the Carnation along with chemical data from labmade egg tempera. They found that the egg proteins essentially created a thin protective cover around the paint with the oil in the eggs. This helped prevent it from wrinkling, discoloration while stopping it from yellowing over time by slowing down reactions between the air and oil in the paints. The findings provide fresh insights into the craft of some of the greatest artists who have ever lived. It just goes to show that while da Vinci and his fellows might be gone now, there are still plenty of artists that we can learn from their processes and artworks. As an old saying goes, you have to crack a few eggs if you want to make an omelet(煎蛋卷)—and, apparently,so does a masterpiece work of art. 1.What do the “Old Masters” have in common according to the text? A.They all kept their works well. B.They shared the same painting style. C.They lived in the same history period. D.They all used egg tempera in their paintings. 2.Which of the following can replace “eluded” in Paragraph 3? A.Excited. B.Embraced. C.Confused. D.Aided. 3.What is the purpose of using eggs in paintings? A.To replace the expensive paints. B.To present different shades of yellow. C.To form a cover to protect the paintings. D.To stimulate the reaction between paints. 4.What can be the best title for the text? A.Chemical Study of Eggs B.Environmental Use of Eggs C.The Egg Wisdom of “Old Masters” D.A New Way to Appreciate Western Art 【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。 根据第二段中的“To be exact, the artists would mix eggs into their paints to create a thing called ‘egg tempera’.” 根据画线词后文“for a long time until a new study was published, which might tell us why”可知,一项新研究可能会告诉“我们”原因,说明在这之前这个问题一直困扰着科学家们。 根据倒数第二段中的“They found that the egg proteins essentially created a thin protective cover around the paint with the oil in the eggs. This helped prevent it from wrinkling, discoloration while stopping it from yellowing over time by slowing down reactions between the air and oil in the paints.” C。 B The far side of the moon is a strange and wild region, quite different from the familiar and mostly smooth face we see nightly from our planet.Soon this rough space will have even stranger features:It will be crowded with radio telescopes. Astronomers are planning to make the moon's distant side our newest and best window on the cosmic(宇宙的) dark ages,a mysterious era hiding early marks of stars and galaxies. Our universe was not always filled with stars.About 380,000 years after the big bang, the universe cooled, and the first atoms of hydrogen formed.Gigantic hydrogen clouds soon filled the universe. But for a few hundred million years, everything remained dark, without stars. Then came the cosmic dawn:The first stars flickered, galaxies came into existence and slowly the universe's largescale structure took shape. The seeds of this structure must have been present in the darkage hydrogen clouds, but the era has been impossible to probe using optical telescopes—there was no light. And although this hydrogen produced longwavelength(or lowfrequency) radio emissions, radio telescopes on Earth have found it nearly impossible to detect them. Our atmosphere either blocks or disturbs these faint signals; those that get through are drowned out by humanity's radio noise. Scientists have dreamed for decades of studying the cosmic dark ages from the moon's far side. Now multiple space agencies plan lunar missions carrying radiowavedetecting instruments—some within the next three years—and astronomers' dreams are set to become reality. “If_I_were_to_design_an_ideal_place_to_do_lowfrequency_radio_astronomy,I_would_have_to_build_the_moon,” says astrophysicist Jack Burns of the University of Colorado Boulder.“We are just now finally getting to the place where we're actually going to be putting these telescopes down on the moon in the next few years.” 5.What's the purpose of building radio telescopes on the moon? A.To research the big bang. B.To discover unknown stars. C.To study the cosmic dark ages. D.To observe the far side of the moon. 6.What does the underlined word “probe” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Explore. B.Evaluate. C.Produce. D.Predict. 7.Why can't hydrogen radio emissions be detected on Earth? A.Because there was no light in the dark ages. B.Because they cannot possibly get through our atmosphere. C.Because gigantic hydrogen clouds no longer fill the universe. D.Because radio signals on Earth cause too much interference. 8.What can we infer from the underlined part in the last paragraph? A.Scientists have to rebuild the moon. B.We will finally get to the moon's distant side. C.The moon is a perfect place to set up radio telescopes. D.A favourable research environment will be found on the moon. 根据第一段的内容可知,月球的背面很快将满是射电望远镜;根据第四段中的“Scientists have dreamed for decades of studying the cosmic dark ages from the moon's far side.” 下文“And although this hydrogen ...impossible to detect them.” 故选A。 根据第三段中的“Our atmosphere either blocks or disturbs these faint signals; those that get through are drowned out by humanity's radio noise.” 根据第四段中的“Scientists have dreamed for decades of studying the cosmic dark ages from the moon's far side.”和最后一段中的“We are just now finally ...these telescopes down on the moon in the next few years.” We all know trees play a very important role in human's life. They are important because they provide food and oxygen. The importance of trees continues to increase. The forests and trees that are planted by humans work together with us to make the world look better and more beautiful.1.______ Some of them are as follows: Trees can clean soil and control soil erosion(侵蚀).Poisonous chemicals and pollutants(污染物) from various factories enter the soil, thus causing soil pollution.2.______ Soil erosion is a serious problem that causes degradation(退化) of soil and leads to floods.Trees and plant roots bind the soil and thus reduce soil erosion.
