Talk therapy is a way to solve mental health problems. You talk with a therapist, who is like a helper for your mind. In a safe and friendly place, you can share your feelings, thoughts and problems. It’s a safe and useful way to work through things that are making you sad.
Ohana found that doing therapy in the kitchen can make things work faster. “You get quick happiness when you follow a process while cooking,” Ohana said.
She uses cooking to help people relax. She starts by learning about what food people like to eat, their cooking skills and if they have any allergies (过敏). Then, they prepare dishes together.

When you’re taking a plane, you’ll notice the soft clouds look lighter than air. But don’t be silly—those clouds are much heavier than you think. So how much does a cloud weigh? And how can we weigh a cloud?
Clouds are mostly made of little water drops, so we can know the weight of a cloud by weighing the water in it. To do that, we need to know the size of the cloud and also the density (密度) of the drops.
Margaret LeMone, a scientist, weighed the water in a grey cumulus (积云) cloud. First, she finds out that an cumulus cloud is about 10⁹m³ in size. And the weight of water in 1m³ of a cumulus cloud is about 0.5g. In other words, the density of the drops is around 0.5g/m³. So the cloud weighs about 500 tons—the weight of 100 elephants!
Of course, ▲ . For example, cirrus (卷云) clouds are much lighter because they have less water. A dark storm cloud is a lot heavier. This cloud also has much water. That is why they can rain so much.
But if clouds are so heavy why do they stay aloft? The wind helps a lot. These drops are small enough to stay on even the lightest wind. If they get together, they can come down as rain and snow. Each raindrop is only 2mm. So don’t worry! Those small raindrops lose enough weight and 500 tons of water doesn’t fall down on your head all at once.
So, the next time you see a little cloud passing overhead, just remember:100 elephants.
21. How did Margaret LeMone weigh a cloud?
A By taking a plane.
B. By collecting the water drops.
C. By weighing the air in the cloud.
D. By finding out the size of the cloud and the density of the drops.
22. Which of the following can be put into ▲ ?
A. the result will be different
B. there are some difficulties to weigh a cloud
C. different kinds of clouds have different weights
D. other scientists may have some different ways to weigh a cloud
23. What does “stay aloft” mean?
A. Change weight. B. Stay high in the air.
C. Look soft and bright. D. Look like an elephant.
24. Which of the following is TRUE?
A A cloud weighs 100 elephants.
B. Raindrops get weight when falling down.
C. Scientists use special ways to weigh the exact weight of different clouds.
D. Only dark storm clouds are heavy, while other kinds of clouds weigh almost nothing.
25. What is the main idea (主旨大意) of the passage?
A. Where does the rain come from?
B. What are the clouds made of?
C. Why are clouds heavy but fly high in the sky?
D. How do the scientists know the weight of the cloud?
D

Every day, a ten-year-old boy walks up the hill with his father. One day, the boy said, “Dad, let’s have a race today. The one who arrives at the top of the hill first wins.” His father agreed.
Then, both of them started running. After a while, the father suddenly stopped. “Are you tired, Dad?” the boy asked. “No. There are some small stones in my shoes. I need to take them out,” the father said. The boy said he had stones in his shoes, too. But he decided to take them out after arriving at the hilltop. He kept running when his father stopped to take out the stones.
Soon, the boy began to feel a lot of pain in his feet and had to slow down. His father asked, “Why don’t you get stones out of your shoes first?” “I don’t have time for that,” said the boy.
Before long, the father overtook the boy. The boy couldn’t even walk because of the pain. He stopped there and cried for help. The father quickly turned back, took off his shoes and noticed that the boy’s feet were hurt. He carried him home and carefully treated his hurt.
“I told you to take out the stones first,” the father said.
“I think if I stop, I won’t win the race,” the boy said.

Making time to talk helps you share your feelings, news and ideas. This brings people together and makes you feel better.
It is important to make time to talk. If you’re unhappy at school or angry with a friend, talking about it with your parents helps you see things more clearly. Your family can give helpful advice. Talking to your family can also help you know what happened in the world. If news stories sound scary, talking to parents helps you understand and feel less worried.
Whether (无论) your day is amazing or awful, it feels good to come home and tell your family about it. But finding time to talk isn’t always easy. Learning and hobbies take up lots of your day, and parents are busy with work or housework at home. The World Happiness Report studied people in 140 countries and found that sharing a meal brings people closer and makes them happier. If it’s hard to find time for this, try to make it special when you do (see Picture 1). It’s also easier to open up outside in nature because you feel relaxed and more focused.
*Pick a theme.
* Choose a menu.
Try easy dishes that everyone can share.
Write down your questions, put them in a jar and pick one out to keep the conversation going.
Knowing how to start a conversation is a great life skill. If you’re unsure of what to talk about with someone, here are three ways to help you.
1.Start by smiling. Say something nice such as “①_________.”
2.Listen carefully. Keep the conversation going by asking more questions.
3.Show you’re interested. Most people like to talk about themselves, so if you show you’re interested, they’ll be happy to have a talk.

But if clouds are so heavy, why do they stay aloft? The wind helps a lot. These drops are small enough to stay on even the lightest wind. If they get together, they can come down as rain and snow. Each raindrop is only 2mm. So don’t worry! Those small raindrops lose enough weight and 500 tons of water doesn’t fall down on your head all at once.
So, the next time you see a little cloud passing overhead, just remember:100 elephants.
