阅读理解 A (2025·佛山模拟)Initial conversations can have a huge impact on how relationships develop over time. People are often stuck in the impressions they think they might have made the minute they finish speaking with someone for the first time: “Did they like me or were they just being polite?” “Were they deep in thought or deeply bored?” To find out whether these worries are necessary, we have conducted nearly 10 years of research. In our studies, participants in the UK talked with someone they had never met before. Afterward, they were asked how much they liked their conversation partner and how much they believed that their conversation partner liked them. This allowed us to compare how much people believed they were liked to how much they were actually liked. Time and time again, we found that people left their conversations with negative feelings about the impression they made. That is, people systematically underestimate how much their conversation partners like them and enjoy their company — a false belief we call the “liking gap”. This bias (偏见) may seem like something that would occur only in initial interactions, but its effects extend far beyond a first impression. Surprisingly, the liking gap can constantly affect a variety of relationships, including interactions with coworkers, long after the initial conversations have taken place. Having a larger liking gap is associated with being less willing to ask workmates for help, less willing to provide workmates with open and honest feedback, and less willing to work on another project together. There are numerous strategies to minimize your biased feelings. One place to start is shifting your focus of attention. Try to direct your attention to your conversation partner, be genuinely curious about them, ask them more questions, and really listen to their answers. The more you're zeroed in on the other person, and the less you're focused on yourself, the better your conversation will be and the less your mind will turn to all the things you think you didn't do well. 1.Why did the author carry out 10 years of research? A.To dismiss national concerns. B.To check out a potential bias. C.To enhance human communication. D.To develop harmonious relationships. 根据第一段以及第二段中的“To find out whether these worries are necessary, we have conducted nearly 10 years of research.” 2.What is one effect of people's liking gap? A.Fewer chances of new projects. B.Underestimation of their ability. C.Bad relationships with people around. D.Low willingness to interact with others. 根据倒数第二段中的“Having a larger liking gap is ...less willing to work on another project together.” 3.What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph? A.Restate opinions. B.Deliver warnings. C.Give suggestions. D.Make a summary. 4.Which might be the best title for the text? A.Liking Gap May Influence Work Performances B.First Impressions Rely On Initial Conversations C.People Probably Like You More Than You Think D.How People Like You Matters Less Than You Assume 解析:选C 标题归纳题。 B (2025·盐城模拟)Passiveaggressive (消极抗拒) behaviour can feel “normal”—especially if it's how we've grown up seeing others around us deal with relationship issues. Whether done verbally (言语上) or nonverbally, passive aggression is meant to avoid hurting someone else's feelings, escape conflict, or show disagreement without being outspoken in it. It's a more common way of dealing with things than you might think. But why are we passiveaggressive? What are the signs we can look out for to recognize being passiveaggressive? And how does it affect us? There are many reasons why someone might display passiveaggressive behaviour, including insecurity or fear of losing control, as well as using it as a way to handle feelings of stress, anxiety, or depression. It can also be a way to try to deal with rejection or conflict, because of feelings of underappreciation, or due to worry that any natural feelings of anger aren't the right response, and so it becomes an attempt to sugarcoat things. We almost all exhibit signs of passive aggression from time to time, but when it becomes a habit within our relationships, it can become upsetting for the other person involved, causing a divide. And for the person exhibiting this behaviour, their inability to say what is wrong clearly can often worsen the issue as it isn't being dealt with directly. Ultimately, passive aggression prevents change and growth, leading to more negative behaviour, the breakdown of trust, and further relationship problems. Admitting that you have a problem and need to change is not just good for your relationship, but also a huge help in your life. If you're struggling and aren't sure where to begin, ask yourself “Could I unintentionally (or intentionally) be hurting my relationship? Is it worth saving my relationship, or do I want to risk things getting worse? Would I be happy if my partner acted the way I've been acting?” Change doesn't happen overnight, but, with time and effort, you can find new, healthier ways of communicating how you are feeling, and start to strengthen the bonds within your relationship. 5.What is the possible passiveaggressive response to displeasure? A.Turning to rude languages. B.Displaying violent behaviour. C.Hiding his true inner feelings. D.Coming into conflict with others. 根据第一段中的“Whether done verbally ...without being outspoken in it.” 6.What can we learn about passiveaggressive people? A.They are sometimes overconfident in themselves. B.They believe conflicts should be resolved directly. C.Their passiveaggressive behaviour doesn't last long. D.Their behaviour likely leads to more negative results. 根据第四段中的“Ultimately, passive aggression prevents change and growth, leading to more negative behaviour, the breakdown of trust, and further relationship problems.” 7.What do the underlined words “the issue” in paragraph 4 refer to? A.The behaviour. B.The divide. C.The inability. D.The habit. 8.What should you do to make a change? A.Start with a selfreflection. B.Apologize to the other side. C.Copy how the partner acts. D.Let time cure everything. Ⅱ.阅读七选五 (2025·安徽部分重点高中模拟)Phone call anxiety is on the rise, with a quarter of 18-24 year olds avoiding picking up the phone. 9 The avoidance of phone calls isn't just a preference; it's a reflection of anxiety. The immediacy and directness of a phone call, without the ability to carefully respond as in textbased communication, can be discouraging. 10 Even traditional forms of speaking can set off a release of oxytocin, which helps reduce social anxiety symptoms. However, in the absence of physical cues (提示) and the comfort of a known audience, phone calls can worsen these anxieties, making the experience feel more intense. In facetoface interactions, we rely heavily on gestures, facial expressions, and body language to interpret messages, which are absent in phone conversations. 11 The fear of making and receiving phone calls can have negative effects on both your personal and professional lives. 12 Although answering the phone and making calls may seem like a simple task that everyone should be able to do, suffering from phone call anxiety can be terrifying and real. While it's understandable why phone calls can feel awkward in today's digital age, it's essential to recognize the value they hold in effective communication and relationship building. As we navigate this “phone anxiety pandemic”, it is crucial to encourage and relearn the art of phone conversation, balancing the ease of texting with the depth and authenticity of a realtime voice call. 13 A.This anxiety is not entirely new. B.Who are reluctant to pick up phones? C.Why are we making fewer phone calls? D.It represents a sense of being separated. E.Therefore, it is important to take phone anxiety seriously. F.This can lead to misunderstandings and a feeling of disconnect. G.This balance is key to establishing good relationships in increasingly digital world. 10.选A 根据下文特别是“phone calls can worsen these anxieties, making the experience feel more intense”可知,这种焦虑在传统的交流方式中已经存在,只不过打电话加剧了这些焦虑。 选项中的“This balance”与前一句中“balancing the ease of texting with the depth and authenticity of a realtime voice call”相呼应。 习题讲评(二) 语用综合训练 完形填空 (2025·新乡模拟)I'm a teacher at a local high school. [单元质量评价] 习题讲评(一) 主题阅读训练 A (2025·河北部分重点中学联考)In Telangana, southern India, a 17yearold teenager, Hemesh Chadalavada, is making waves with a gamechanging invention that has the potential to revolutionize dementia (痴呆) care. When Hemesh was 12,his grandmother Jayasree, then 63, accidentally left the gas on in the kitchen after making herself a cup of tea. The incident frightened Hemesh who found himself wondering what would have happened if he hadn't been there. Witnessing his grandmother suffer from dementia, Hemesh knew that he had to do something, so he turned to the Internet. After watching robotics courses online and taking advantage of his passion for coding, Hemesh set about creating a smart device. He spent time in a day centre to learn more about the needs of people with dementia. And 20 failed versions later, the Alpha Monitor was born. Using advanced machine learning technology, the device, which can be worn on the wrist, sends an automatic alert to caregivers when any abnormal activity is detected, such as if the user falls down, wanders off, or has an accident. While other devices rely on WiFi and are therefore unable to detect movements outside a limited range, the Alpha Monitor uses longrange technology that can detect a person's movements more than a mile away in cities and three miles away in the countryside. Sadly, Jayasree passed away last year, but her death has only reinforced Hemesh's determination to continue his mission of improving dementia care far and wide. Dhruv Saidava, Hemesh's mentor, said, “I first met Hemesh in 2019 during Ideate for India ... Hemesh stood out. What set him apart was his exceptional talent for thorough research and handson ability.” In the future, he plans to do research at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and improve the Alpha Monitor so that it's ready for market. He has made it clear that he wants the device to be sold at an affordable price so that it's accessible to people in less developed countries. 1.What inspired Hemesh's invention? But that's just the beginning of Raymond's story. A year later, frustrated with the lack of rehab (康复) resources available for people like himself in New Orleans, the former broadcast engineer decided that his hometown needed an adaptive gym to cater for those with injuries and disabilities. Based on the need, Raymond financed the establishment of Split Second Fitness in 2021, with specially designed workout equipment and therapy programs that allow clients to grow stronger without the aim of making money. The inspiration for Split Second Fitness came to Raymond as he spent three months at a stateoftheart rehab center in Sacramento, which redefined his understanding of recovery. “I knew I had to get back home and figure out how to do that,” says the naturalborn networker, who spent three years raising funds and learning how to run an organization. Seated bikes help move disabled users' legs; yoga instructors help stroke survivors increase flexibility and range of motion; mental health experts facilitate the hard transition to a new way of living. “Anybody's life can change in a spit second like mine did,” explains Raymond. “What our organization is really centered around is ‘How do we give you hope?’ and ‘How can we help you transform that hope into action steps for you to create a better tomorrow?’” “The aim is to increase the quality of life of those with a disability,” he says. “Because if I can give you something to look forward to, it will help you get out of the painful process and help you get back on track to a happy and healthy life.” Raymond, who insists he's just getting started, says that he plans to open similar gyms across the nation. “I want to be remembered as someone who moved the needle on disability advocacy issues”. 5.Which statement fits Split Second Fitness? A.It is open to everyone. B.It is made up of many gyms. C.It is run on a nonprofit basis. D.It is funded by TV programs. 根据第二段中的“Based on the need ... without the aim of making money.” 6.What inspired Raymond to set up Split Second Fitness? A.A live broadcast. B.A rehab experience. C.A request from a fitness center. D.A suggestion from a former workmate. 7.What can we learn about Split Second Fitness from paragraph 4? A.Its challenges and difficulties. B.Its facilities and staff. C.Its background and change. D.Its goal and mission. 根据第四段中“Anybody's life can change ... create a better tomorrow?” 8.What is the best title for the text? A.Hope in Motion:a Road to Selfdiscovery B.Life with a Disability:a Painful Experience C.Gyms:Making You Healthier and Stronger D.Instructors:Helping You Get Back on Track 解析:选A 标题归纳题。 因此,A项“Hope in Motion: a Road to Selfdiscovery (运动中的希望:自我发现之路)”最契合文章主旨,适合作为文章标题。 语法填空 (2025·南京模拟)Unlike most of her fellow postgraduates, who found jobs in big cities, Zhang Xiaoyang, after graduation from Zhejiang University three years ago, chose to go to Dunhuang Academy, 1 (land) a job as an archaeologist. Although she was still in junior high school, she found ways here and there to make some extra money for her holiday shopping. She found two vests in likenew condition and asked if I would list them in our local online yard sale group. She set the price at $7 each and it wasn't long before someone replied, wanting to buy them. The buyer replied in a short message with broken English; it was obvious that Spanish was her native language. After a few messages back and forth, she revealed that she couldn't drive to my house to pick up the vests because she lived on the other side of town, but asked if I would be willing to ship the vests to her instead. I hesitated. The last week of school was so crazy busy. I barely had enough time to get from place to place, much less figure out how to wrap up these heavy vests and ship them out. I was feeling overwhelmed trying to get everything accomplished and this one extra task seemed like that straw that would break the camel's back. She must have sensed my hesitation as she sent another message offering to send me a money order (汇票) to pay for the vests and the shipping costs. A money order. I literally froze when I read her message. It was obvious this woman wanted these items, probably for a Christmas gift for a child or grandchild. I knew if she took the time to get a money order, then mailed it to me and if I waited to get the money order then shipped the vests to her, there was a really good chance they would not arrive in time for Christmas morning. That's when I heard the whisper on my heart: “Give her the vests for free.” Knowing the vests were for her disabled daughter, I decided to ship more Christmas gifts. That's when I heard the whisper on my heart:“Give her the vests for free.” Without a second thought, I responded back, inquiring her mailing address. Upon her request for payment, I gently declined, offering to send them for free. Out poured her appreciation for such kindness literally in her Spanish/English messages. It was a ‘humble’ Christmas gift for her disabled daughter, a poor angel confined to a wheelchair. Having spent years littered with severe hardship, they couldn't afford much. Ripples of heartbreak mingled with sympathy swallowing me like wild beasts, I couldn't be blind to it without doing anything. Knowing the vests were for her disabled daughter, I decided to ship more Christmas gifts.Inside the package I mailed were two brandnew coats and hats for the daughter alongside a sparkly scarf for the mom. 阅读理解 A (2025·广州模拟)“You like pottery (陶艺) more than you like science,” a family member said. I knew the comment was made lightly, but I felt frustrated and disappointed. I had worked so hard to achieve a balance between my scientific and artistic pursuits. Why was my creative side still seen as a weakness and a disturbance, in opposition to my science? As a little girl, I created art by breaking up eggshells, dyeing them, and gluing them to a cloth. I also conducted science experiments with my mom, a high school science teacher, on the back porch. In college, I loved my chemistry courses and research work, and I regarded cooking as my creative outlet, hosting weekly dinner parties for friends. Yet I heard time and again that creative expression and science were not possible together. When my college roommate concluded with a personality test that I was the “creative” type, the rest of my friends said that couldn't be right, because “I was a scientist and therefore was not creative.” As I was preparing for graduate school and studying for the chemistry GRE test, I realized I talked about science the same way I would paint a picture, explaining concepts in broad strokes (粗线条地) — in part because I struggled to remember technical scientific terminology. I worried my way of thinking wouldn't fit in with “proper” scientists. In the end, though, my desire to pursue a scientific career won out. I figured I would continue to find a way to balance my research with my creative pursuits, regardless of what others thought. When in graduate school I found pottery, which I could pursue on evenings and weekends. After my first class, I was attracted. It has inspired me to more intentionally mix my art with my science. I keep a notebook at my lab table filled with words of mug (马克杯) designs inspired by my experiments. Through the challenge of getting my paper into its core concepts in such a way that it could be displayed on a mug, I gained a better understanding of my project. Pottery has now turned into a way for me to train my brain to be creative and think outside the box. 1.What did the family member think of the author's pottery? But could you imagine hundreds of people being attracted by the cover of a science magazine? The achievement was completed after Wang Yixi and his team made the cover of an October issue of Structure, a USbased Cell Press journal. The cover shows a Chinese ink painting that vividly shows the process in which a special enzyme (酶) involved in the biosynthesis (生物合成) of an important organic compound is activated―the latest breakthrough by a Chinese scientific research team. Another one of his popular works that carries distinctive Chinese elements is a composite image, describing a scientist as the folk goddess Nyuwa, carrying her newly discovered compound to fill a crack in the sky. While studying chemistry at university, Wang Yixi often came across an experimental preparation process that he had to explain, but the amount of text was too large and abstract. As he had been interested in drawing, and related software like Photoshop, he decided to turn his graphics into a fine art. He went on to study 3D graphics software in order to better display the microscopic structures in his field and improve the presentation of his papers. It didn't take long before his classmates and professors noticed his talents and asked him to help them with their papers. By word of mouth, more people beat a path to Wang's door and were willing to pay for his service. Over the past four years, Wang and his team have come up with more than 10,000 visual works for academic papers across a variety of fields, many of which have made their way to the world's top academic journals, including Nature, Science and Cell. “Every scientific paper is innovative, and graphics are an essential part of scientific papers,” Wang says, adding that what he tries to achieve is an explanation of models or methods, to showcase experimental results, visually process data or compare differences among experiments. 5.What play a special role in Wang's works? A.He preferred painting to Chemistry. B.He developed useful mapping software. C.He had an active mind to solve problem. D.He had trouble conducting his experiment. 7.How does Wang make abstract papers easily understood? A.By visualizing them vividly. B.By showing them accurately. C.By explaining them in detail. D.By constructing them uniquely. 8.Which is the best title for the text? A.The power of art B.Dilemmas of science C.Mysteries of Chemistry D.Inspiration from science 解析:选D 标题归纳题。 Ⅱ.阅读七选五 (2025·广州模拟)Physicist and Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman developed a clever learning method known as the Feynman Technique. It involves explaining what you're learning to others. By teaching what you've learned from memory, you engage in active recall. 9 It also ensures that you understand the topic, because you can only explain an idea if you truly understand it. The technique consists of four repeatable steps. To begin, choose a concept or topic you wish to fully understand. 10 The more interested you are, the faster you'll grasp it. Moreover, a personally interesting topic will keep you motivated and engaged. 11 Write notes and explain it in a way that makes sense to a fiveyearold. If you'd rather avoid actually teaching someone, you can just teach it to an imaginary audience. But it works much better if you use a real person. They'll be able to let you know when something isn't clear. While teaching you may discover gaps in your understanding. 12 Review your notes, reread books, or seek external help to ensure you have a complete understanding of the context before moving forward. Now that you fully grasp the concept, test your understanding by trying to teach it to another person. This will help you identify any remaining areas of uncertainty you need to revisit. The Feynman Technique is a great way for kids and grownups to learn. 13 You need to actively think about the problem instead of passively reading or listening to someone else. However, with great efforts in mastering this method, you'll see your learning results improve quicker than ever before. A.It is mentally demanding. B.This helps the information stick in your mind better. C.Teach it to a fiveyearold, who would give you direct feedback. D.Your curiosity about it will determine the pace of your learning. E.Once you have chosen a topic, you can teach it to someone else. F.Active engagement plays a key role in promoting deeper learning. G.When this happens, refer back to the original material for the missing pieces. 习题讲评(二) 语用综合训练 完形填空 (2025·德州模拟)In Lincoln Elementary School, the students went wild with excitement on hearing the announcement of the upcoming science fair. A few years earlier, he had bought his childhood house and moved in. While Brown wondered about a second career in gardening, he heard a different internal voice. “That child who used to love drawing whispered to me down the years,” he said. Some unacknowledged longing in him was brought out. There was a great oak tree near his home. It had stood out to his young self as a “fantastical giant — a treasure home to birds, insects and animals. There was a cave inside. We used to squeeze in through this hole.” He decided to lock himself away for two months to draw it in all its glorious detail. “While I was drawing,” he said, “there came moments when it was as though the tree was drawing itself. I had spent so much time playing in it. I could feel it. It was deep inside me.” His finished oak held “a real power”, he said. “As you walk towards it, it just grows.” Brown became a tree portraitist. Over the next few years, he travelled across Britain and spent days with the trees selected with the help of the Ancient Tree Forum, the Tree Council and the Woodland Trust. Brown has started work on a 20drawing series of Britain's most important ash trees. “These beautiful old ash trees are going to be lost to us,” he says. “They are 350 years old and they are dying because of a disease that we've spread.” Drawing is not only an act of care and a demand for preservation, but it “gives me that interface between my passion for the natural world and my creativity,” Brown says. It has also given him a different perspective on the passage of time. “I'm an old man yet I'm only 71, and some of the trees I've drawn are 1,000 years old. When I'm with them and when I draw them, I think about the end of my life and the brief nature of human life that passes momentarily beneath them.” 1.What did Brown do at the age of 57? Dawson is immersing himself in sculpting a pot while Molly is buried in learning to weave. Leo is waving his paint brush on the paper and Jessica is killing her time through knitting. It's no surprise to see scenes like these. Many of us like to make things which we can use or give as gifts. Crafting is certainly a hobby that's seen a return and growth, and those who pursue it claim getting creative improves their mood. Many people, especially those who work from home, are turning to hobbies such as craft making as a way to relieve their working burnout. Knitting, weaving, pottery and painting are all crafts that have seen a renaissance, and many of them are being done by youngsters. Besides turning to arts and crafts as an interesting pastime, people take it as a way to make a bit of pocket money. A large number of websites, such as Etsy and Folksy, allow people to sell their homemade handicrafts. Richard Sennett, author of The Craftsman, told the BBC: “A lot of people are finding their day jobs pretty empty, while learning a craft provides a real satisfaction. It's a skill — things like carpentry and weaving are mentally and physically encouraging, and people get essential pleasure out of that kind of work.” The Internet has also been the paradise to turn to to buy craft tools which help you get started with your craftmaking projects, such as candle making. But many people are enjoying designing and making things from the beginning and are doing it just for pleasure or to occupy their minds — and there's evidence that it's good for us as well. According to research conducted by BBC Arts, even the briefest time spent on a creative pastime such as painting, pottery or playing the piano, has an impact on our wellbeing and emotions. The survey of around 80,000 people found being creative can help avoid stress, free up mind space and improve selfdevelopment, which helps build selfrespect. 5.How does the author introduce the topic of the text? Look strange? 10 Chosen from 3,482 submitted images based on the Vermeer's masterpiece, the Algenerated work was displayed at the Mauritshuis Museum in the Netherlands in March. The designer looked on the experience of literally replacing the famous painting by one of his AI images crazy and completely surreal. 11 Though Mauritshuis press officer Boris de Munnick insisted that it was a nice picture and a creative process, many people questioned whether it could be called art and if it was qualified to be shown in the museum gallery. 12 It was regarded as a disrespect for the masterpiece of Vermeer and also for any working artist. In fact, this is not the first time that people have debated AI's role in creativity. 13 But the technology has now become widely available for regular everyday use and the practice of using AI image generators to make art has become more common. A.Coming from a museum, it's really embarrassing. B.However, the AI image raised a fierce argument. C.But look more closely and you may find something different about it. D.One common concern is whether AIgenerated works break copyright laws. E.Dutch artist Iris Compiet described the image on display as almost Frankensteinish. F.It's actually an image made by Berlinbased designer Julian van Dieken using artificial intelligence. G.The emergence of such AI works is believed by many to weaken the enthusiasm of artists with creative skills. 语法填空 (2025·杭州模拟)Museums 1 (be) around for centuries, with the first known museum 2 (found) in the 3rd century BC.For a long time, they were used to showcase traditional artworks like paintings, sculptures and 3 (drawing).
