When I was small, my mom always told me, “I just want you to be happy.” But what exactly is happiness? Is it a place, or a never-ending journey?
Is happiness on social media? It sure seems that way. People love sharing perfect pictures online. But going through posts on platforms like Weibo and Xiaohongshu can actually make you feel worse about your life. They mislead people into thinking that others are better off. ★ Also, a study shows people spending over two hours daily on social media are twice as likely to feel lonely. .
But what if we’re the ones posting? When we share a happy moment, we get excited, but after a while, we return to feeling the same as before. Happiness only lasts for so long, and when it ends, we set out looking for new happiness. And social media has made this search harder than ever.
Happily, there’s still hope for us to find lasting happiness. This happens when we allow ourselves to feel and deal with emotions like anger, disappointment, fear and sadness. It’s not easy, but when we are honest about our experiences, we build deeper and more meaningful connections with others. And those friendships bring us smiles that last much longer than any number of “likes” on a screen!
March 20th is World Happiness Day. Take it as a reminder that trying to be happy all the time is like trying to catch a unicorn (独角兽) — it’s just not going to happen. Instead, focus on your own journey and accept different emotions you’ll feel along the way.

THIS YEAR’S 315 GALA (晚会) drew our attention to a serious problem: Companies are using AI tools to make robocalls.
These AI callers speak naturally and sound very human. They even change what they say according to how people give answers. These robots work around the clock. They can make up to 100,000 calls a day.
Companies use “virtual numbers” to make such robocalls. These numbers often start with 16 or 17. They don’t need a SIM card, so it is usually hard for the police to find them. The companies also use technology to make these calls look like they are from those people may know. This makes people more likely to answer the calls.
The AI-powered robocall is just one example of deepfakes. The technology uses fake voices or pictures to trick people into giving away personal information or money. During this year’s “Two Sessions (两会)”, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also voiced his worries about this problem.
A recent CCTV report showed that some companies secretly collect user data from apps like TikTok. They use AI to put together information, such as a user’s age and address. They even study users’ private information to find out more. This may include if someone is married, has a baby or owns a house. Then scammers (骗子) use the information to trick people.
Experts call for stricter rules to fight deepfakes. They advise people not to answer calls from numbers starting with 16 or 17. If you do pick up the phone, hang up right away. They also suggest not talking to robot callers at all because they may record your voice to do bad things. More importantly, think twice before sharing personal information online!
36. What are robots used for according to the passage?
A. B. C. D.
37. What makes it hard for police to find robocalls?
A. The robots make thousands of calls each day. B. The phone numbers begin with 16 or 17.
C. The phone calls are made without SIM cards. D. The phone calls are from people they know well.
38. What does the word “deepfakes” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Different types of smartphone technology. B. Fake voices or pictures used to trick people.
C. Strict rules for online safety. D. AI tools for communication services.
39. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To introduce the development of AI technology.
B. To teach people how to make robocalls.
C. To warn people about decpfakes’ dangers and give advice.
D. To encourage people to use more apps.

Kites fly when four forces work together: wind lifts them up ____42____ gravity (重力) pulls them down, and the string holds them as air pushes back. According to Bernoulli’s principle (伯努利原理), when kites tilt at an angle, wind moves faster above (with lower pressure) and ____43____ below (with higher pressure). Growing through Hard Times
Life is full of challenges. Last year, I faced a big one: failing an important math test. I felt very disappointed and worried.
At first, I was sad. But I knew giving up wasn’t helpful. I decided to solve the problem. I carefully reviewed the test, found my weak points, and asked my teacher for help. She gave me useful advice. Then, I practiced those difficult problems every day. It wasn’t easy, but I kept trying.
This experience taught me valuable lessons. I learned that failure is not the end of the world. More importantly, I understood that hard work and asking for help are keys to overcoming difficulties. It made me realize that facing problems bravely makes me stronger.
Now, I’m not afraid of challenges anymore. I know every difficulty is a chance to grow. Like light coming through a crack, hard times can lead to brighter growth if we face them positively.

38 What does the word “deepfakes” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
40. What can’t Li Ming do if he receives a robocall?
① Hang up the calls starting with 16 or 17. ② Answer the questions politely.
③ Make no replies at all after picking up. ④ Talk to the callers to waste their time.
⑤ Ask the callers for more information.
A. ①②③ B. ①④⑤ C. ②③④ D. ②④⑤
